Interested people might want to try the following link :

This allows you to enter any two actors names and get their links
via Movies, TV shows or Movies and TV shows. It is run by
University of Virginia and uses IMDB as it's source, I didn't use
it for my earlier post.

For example the link from Al Pacino to Sarah Michelle Gellar is
reported back as :

Al Pacino was in Insider, The (1999) with Phil Hawn 
Phil Hawn was in Cruel Intentions (1999) with Sarah Michelle
Gellar 


It isn't perfect as it does break two of the rules of Six
Degrees. Firstly it lets you use TV shows and strictly Six
Degrees links should be movies only and secondly it uses
uncredited roles, Six Degrees only allows credited. In the
example given above Phil Hawn was uncredited in Cruel Intensions
(he played a subway passenger). Also it tends to choose the
first link it finds rather than the best one. For example in
linking Alyson Hannigan with Reese Witherspoon it reports :

Reese Witherspoon was in Jack the Bear (1993) with Lee Garlington

Lee Garlington was in Boys and Girls (2000) with Alyson Hannigan 

Which breaks the rules as Lee Garlington is uncredited in Boys
and Girls. A better link would be :

Reese Witherspoon was in Election with Chris Klein who was in
American Pie with Alyson Hannigan.
