I knw that I am just a lowly lurker here but I have a question about all
this 'flame' commotion. Why are we wasting valuable time and bandwidth
giving these flamers exactly what they want- attention. Just ignore them and
they will go away. If you have to say something to support the victims of
such flames, send it to them! I personally love fic in most all of its
forms, and relationships (well almost. Buffy/Riley just doesn't do it for
me.)I find few, if any, fic on this list or any of the three other Buffy
lists I am on to be 'bad' fic. If I see errors I try to point them out
constructively and politely. To me reading fic is not just about Buffy,
Xander, Willow, Oz, Cordelia, Giles, or any of the other characters on the
show. It's more about what the author feels about them. The authors show
alot of themselves when they write. I try to write Xander fic 'cause I see
myself in him. Others are different. I have read some stories that I didn't
particularily like, but were nevertheless, good stories. Well written and on
the money in character development. That's what I look for in fic. Not an
opportunity to ridicule others. I've had that in RL and I can say that I
ahve never been more hurt than when someone found a story I was working on
and ridiculed it piece by piece. That's just WRONG. But now I know I would
have handeled it differently. Never let them see you sweat. Ignore them.
Don't waste energy on simple-minded hurtful fools who probably wouldn't know
a good plot if it bit them... well you get my drift. Ok, here ends the
rant. I hope this has been constructive, or at the least, amusing. We now
return you to our regularily scheduled fic, already in progress.
