"The Twisted Mind of Joss Whedon........."

Greetings List Brethren,

As usual I couldn't sleep so I decided to present something for your
consideration.

This past Sunday my brother, my girlfriend Joni and I were trying to
recover from the previous day's marching band competition. We got best
in class (4A), but only third in overall (WE WAS ROBBED!!!)

Anywho, we spent most of Sunday vegging out while watching Buffy tapes.
Well while we were watching last Tuesdays ep. we started to notice a
couple funny things. First off the monks at the beginning appeared to be
Catholic, the funny thing was they were speaking Russian, not Latin.

I was just reading the subs. when the male parental unit started to
translate. He hadn't seen it last week. Now I don't speak Russian like
dad, actually I only know how to curse in it plus I know a few other
words. After we rewound the tape I was able to pick out the words for
"My God" and something "Lightness and Dark".

Second funny thing; now please don't start yelling: Jesus Freak! This is
just what me and my tribe noticed. If you have a problem with it tell
my dad, he's the history prof. or yell at Joni she was raised Catholic
until I corrupted her. So Buffy is caring for the dying monk when he
tells her that Dawn is a being of pure energy now in human form. That
was when Joni did one of her famous out of character, "OH SHITS!"

As we're staring at her she reminded us that the monks referred to "the
woman in red" as the Beast..... And that Dawn is "a being of pure energy
in human form" and that she is the "Key" or perhaps "the Way?"......

Now don't ask me, I was raised to follow the Laws of Moses and to regard
anything after the Old Testament as not existing. At least until I told
mom and the Rabbi that I would rather dance naked under a full moon than
go to Temple.

Can we say fireworks?

The thing is I don't think I'd laugh it off. Joss did say that the big
battle this season would be between small "G" gods.

Soooo, is the "Beast" the Antichrist and Dawn a 21st. century female
Jesus? Or is Herr Whedon screwing with our heads again, a la Cheese Man.

Like I said, Who knows? But it does add some interesting ideas for new
Buffy fics. And I'm just going to make sure VCR is working ok and that
I've got plenty of new blank tapes. Cause it looks like it's gonna be
one Hell of a season!
