Challenge; Groundhog Day
Hey pals and gals!
I now choose to once again throw down the gauntlet of challenge to my fellow bards. The theme this time is;
Groundhog Day!
I am not talking about the holiday, but the movie. For those who don't know, Groundhog Day is one of Bill Murray's better comedies. Bill Murray plays an arrogant weather reporter who is sent to Puxatawny(sp) Pennsylvania to cover that small town's annual Groundhog Day celebration. But once he's there, he ends up reliving the same day over and over, and tries to figure out why, while taking advantage of knowing everything that will happen on that day.
My challenge is this; write a story where Buffy must relive the same day over and over, and make changes in the course of day's events to end the cycle. There are two options;
1) Have her relive a specific episode of the series. Example; have her try and change the events of "Becoming", so that Angel won't go to Hell, and her murder charge is cleared before Snyder can expel her. Or have Willow, realizing the damage she's done as a result of the Will Be Done spell in "Something Blue", saying, "I wish I had this day to live over!" or something like that.
2) Have Buffy relive a new day, not one in the past. For example, a vampire attack leads to Willow's death, but Buffy, reliving that day, has the chance to relive the event. If you go that route, your story should include two of the following;
-- Xander making a comment about the Bill Murray movie.
-- Willow or Tara attempting a spell to discover what happened to Buffy.
-- A conversation between Buffy and her mother, set after Joyce recovered from her tumor.
-- A photo of Giles, in her Ripper days, dressed as Dr. Franken Furter.
-- A candle(but not the 'extra-flamey' candle from New Moon Rising).
-- Spike singing drunkenly.
-- Buffy visiting the Oracles.
Either way you do the story, I must insist on one rule; the main point that Buffy has to change in her relived day is that she has to confide her true feelings for Willow, and Willow must reciprocate. The story must end with Buffy/Willow smoochies, cuddles, or full-fledged lovemaking.
This is my challenge. Who shall pick up my gauntlet?

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."
