"This," claimed Snyder, "is your new school mascot."
"Its a rat." Buffy pointed out.
"No Miss Summers, although I thank you for your interest. No, this
is a groundhog."
"I wasn't referring to the squirrel." Buffy grinned and headed to
class, away from the principal as he stuttered in rage. From
somewhere in the gathered crowd Xander cheered, a loopy grin
plastered on his face, but he was ignored by all.
"I'll see you expelled!" Snyder called out after her.

*

"Did you do the homework?" Willow struggled to bring the world back
into a realm she could understand. It was currently an inside-out
turvy-topsy world she didn't have a manual for.
"Nope, but no big." Buffy licked Willow's ear and whispered, "I get
the feeling you might have made a second copy of your own, but with
shakier handwriting and poorer spelling." Willow shuddered;
Spooky! "And that's sort of the reason I love you so much."
"Because I do your homework?" Willow looked aghast.
Buffy laughed, her voice turning husky, "No, because you're
probably the only person who really cares about me." Pause. "Who
doesn't wear tweed, or have issues about me learning to drive." she
amended.
Willow pulled some loose pages out of her bag. "I changed the
punctuation too!" she offered with a quirky grin.
"Hey, Will," Buffy gave her friend a dazzling smile. "I kinda love
you."
Willow smiled back, but said nothing.

*

"Ah Buffy," Giles looked up from his text as the Slayer breezed into
the library. "Is something wrong?"
"Not at all." Buffy shrugged. "Oh wait, scratch that. I'm taking a
night off from the whole slayage thing. I'm having a relationship
with Willow and we need tonight to work out the issues."
"What?" Giles dropped his book.

*

Sunset saw the Slayer luxuriating in the embrace of a certain Miss
Rosenberg.
"How long have you felt this way about me, Willow?" Buffy asked as
her hand caressed the redhead's cheek.
Willow ran her fingers through Buffy's hair. "I think I loved you
before I met you," she half-sang, then thought more seriously about
the question. "Actually, I think it was the day we met and you came
over and saw me as a person. Not as loser welcome-mat girl."
"They just couldn't see you properly." Buffy smiled. "Not like I
did. The real you I mean, hidden behind layers of shyness. Like those
things you wrap pearls in."
"Oysters?" The feel of the Slayer's hand against her face made
Willow feel dizzy.
"Yeah. Oysters." Buffy agreed.
"But Buffy, why did you wait so long?" Willow's face clouded in self-
doubt.
"Well, because you had thingy." Buffy frowned as she tried to put a
name to the face.
"You mean Xander?" Willow also struggled to dredge the name from the
dim recesses of her memory.
"Yep. Him."
Willow giggled. "He was never even in the running."
Buffy leaned forward to kiss the witch and found herself in bed.

*

"Then put your little hand in mine. There ain't no hill or mountain
we can't climb. Babe." The music faded away. "Good morning and this
is Sunnydale FM giving you a warm weather forecast on this gloriously
warm Groundhog Day..." The radio abruptly cut out as Buffy switched
it off, shaking slightly.
"Major deja vu," she whispered, and dressed herself at full Slayer-
enhanced speed.

*

Buffy joined Xander and Willow on the grass by the steps to
Sunnydale High's entranceway.
"Hi lover!" she greeted her beloved wicca.
"What?" Willow blinked.
"Oh yeah, I forgot." Buffy slapped her forehead. "We haven't done
this conversation yet."
Xander closed his mouth, ending an amusing goldfish
impression. "Lover?" he asked.
Buffy shrugged as she embraced Willow, fastening her lips against
the redhead's in a reciprocated kiss, spending a timeless moment in
smoochieland.
"Wow!" Willow's smile became full-force blush as the background of
cheering students became very much the foreground. "Oh my god!" she
stated, eyes widening.
Buffy slipped her arm into Willow's and guided the shell-shocked
wicca into school, while Xander stood nonplussed outside the
entranceway, mouth opening and closing soundlessly.
"...?" He asked the universe in general.

*

"This," claimed Snyder, "is your new school mascot."
"You can spot the similarity." Buffy pointed out.
Snyder fixed her with a piercing glare. "Well, thank you for your
interest Miss Summers. You can be in charge of feeding it."
"What is it?" A curious student asked.
"Groundhog." Buffy said. "Its a type of squirrel." She threw Snyder
a cheerful look and headed for class.

*

"There's no way," Buffy stated, "tomorrow will ever come as long as
you're still drawing breath." She shoved a celery stalk through the
bars at Wild Willy, poking the woodchuck hard in the side. "So, time
for your munchies," she stated. "We wouldn't want to see you wasting
away, now would we?"

*

Sunset saw a naked Slayer luxuriating in the sensual embrace of a
certain Miss Rosenberg, equally nude.
"Do you believe in wishes?" Buffy asked.
"I guess so." Willow stated. "I'd like to believe in wishes."
Buffy smiled. "Me too. I think someone granted mine by accident."
"What do you mean?" Willow gazed down at her naked breasts. "Oh.
Oh!" She blushed.
"Strange question for you." Buffy chewed her lip.
"I'm listening, although my perspective on strangeness shouldn't
really be taken at face value right now."
"If, for some reason, you got stuck in a weird time loop, and
whatever you did had no consequences, and you knew how to break the
loop, would you?"
Willow blinked. "No consequences? That's pretty hard to imagine."
Buffy nodded. "It is, isn't it?" she gazed at Willow's satiny skin
and found herself in bed.

*

"Then put your little hand in mine. There ain't no hill or mountain
we can't climb. Babe." The music faded away. "Good morning and this
is Sunnydale FM giving you a warm weather forecast on this gloriously
warm Groundhog Day..." Buffy switched the radio off, a content smile
playing on her lips.
"I love that squirrel." she murmured.
