Prologue
#1997 - Northern England#
Matthew Blake sat on the grass, moist by the morning
dew. He sat in the centre of Stone Henge as the last
few stray rays of Sun disappeared over the horizon in
the distance. He had waited for this moment for a
'Very' long time. As the final moments of his long
wait ticked away, thoughts of all his past
incarnations came to him, all his other names, of all
the friends and enemies he had made and lost over the
years. His last incarnation came to mind.
He felt the centre of his chest. He remembered the
stake that was driven there. He remembered the pain.
He remembered the face of ----------. Normally
------wouldn't have stood a chance against him.
Unfortunately Matthew, for the last two decade, had
put all his powers in to this moment. Fortunately
Matthew still had enough power so; such a trivial
wound didn't kill him for good.
He hadn't minded suffering the pain of 'Death' for
her. She was 'special', special to the world, special
to her friends and special to him. As a light started
to emanate in the centre of Stone Henge he remembered
his last words to her, a warning and promise. 'And the
Rest is Silence!' They were his last words to her
before the darkness had took him.
He stood and walked forward to the light that was now
pulsating strongly. Suddenly it exploded in a blinding
flash. He inhaled sharply and closed his eyes
savouring the feeling of his power flowing back to
him. He opened his eyes and saw 'her'. The one he had
been waiting for all these centuries.
Moving super humanly fast he found himself standing in
front of her. He gently gripped her shoulders and she
looked up into his eyes.
"Merlin." She spoke hoarsely a smile gracing her
face.
With that one word Matthew Blake died and Merlin, his
true self, was once again reborn. He embraced her
tightly to himself careful not to hurt her. The
'transition' was incredibly draining.
With his love now with him, he could start the final
phase of a plan set in motion many centuries before. A
plan to save his world. He had to get the Chosen ones
to do what was needed. To get the best outcome he had
set in to motion many things over the centuries. Now
all the pieces were in place now it was just a matter
of time...
...Wasnt it.
As he thought about this he again started to
remember. Remembered how their plans had started.
Chapter One
Once Upon A Time...in a far away land....
.... Mighty waves crashed against massive cliffs in
the dead of night. The ellipses of three moons hung
among the stars in the night sky and on the edge of
these cliffs stood a single person, a figure dressed
in a long black coat, its lower half bellowing in the
wind and it's hood obscuring the strangers face.
As the gales swept around the figure the stranger
spoke lightly, with an unusual echoed voice, six
simple words into the silent night air....
..."I know you're their Old friend." After a moment
another cloaked stranger, a woman judging by the brief
view of her legs, dropped from the shadows of a tree
that stood several feet behind the figure. Her face
was also obscured by a long, heavy, dark green, cloak.
She held a staff in her left hand. It was about five
fought tall; made of dark wood it was covered all over
with intricate engravings. She slowly walked towards
the other stranger.
"I got your message. She said with no expression on
her face as she stood next to the figure. "You've
found away to destroy Kallum and there purging light."
"Not exactly."
"But your message said..."
"My message said I may have found away to stop the
kallum and there light." The stranger interrupted.
How?
"With these." The stranger pulled out his hand from
his coat. His companion looked in awe at the hand and
saw four glowing spheres, about the size of a human
eye. Two were bright yellow and two were bright red.
They slowly floated round in a circle above the
strangers hand.
"Are they what I think they are." She asked.
"Yes." Was the simple reply.
"But there no used to us now, they can't destroy the
kallum."
"Maybe not now, and maybe not here, but in another
time and another place they are capable of destroying
the kallums light, when all is complete."
"But how, you can't...." The young woman stared at
the mysterious man for moment. "You've found a way to
get back there haven't you...but I mean how.... it
shouldn't be possible."
"Let's just say that, thanks to the help of R'Temis
and the act of some 'Old' friends. But I need help" He
turned to the other woman. "I need your help."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He had explained his plan to her. They would hold up
their Duty to serve and protect their world. He had
explained his plan to her. His plan to stop the
kallums purging light, his plan to save their world,
his plan to deal with the Chosen Ones. They now stood
opposite each other, on opposite sides of a green,
glowing, circle on the floor of the Temple.
Good Luck! They said to each other. They stepped
into the circle and vanished.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The time, 15000 years before the birth of the one
named Christ. The place, a place that many consider
myth and legend, except maybe for the ones the 'old'
ones consider the old ones. Even by those that are
considered myth and legend by most mortal humans, have
doubts about how real it was.
Along time ago, in a land later to be known as the
mythological island of Atlantis, a battle between
eight powerful beings raged. Four champions of the
light against four minions of the darkness. They
fought one single, but important, battle of the
longest war ever fought. A war that had been going on
since before time itself, longer than mortal men know,
a war that has raged since the beginning of creation
the war between the light and darkness-;
The War between Good & Evil.
In the end the darkness was thwarted, but all except
one of the champions of light were fatally hurt. As
death came to them, as it does to all creatures, they
prophesied that one day the darkness they had fought
would return to the world, and when it did, the
greatest power of good would bring forth four
champions, like phoenixes from the ashes, to stop the
darkness once again. The fallen warriors funeral, was
a magnificent wonder, the likes of which were never
seen before and would unlikely ever be seen again.
Everyone, from average citizens to great rulers, came
out to pay their respects. Even the Gods of the time
made an appearance and paid humble homage to the
fallen warriors.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A female figure, an average citizen judging by her
cloths, stood infant of the monuments that stood in
recognition of them, in the City Square of the
Amenesen capital. She moved away slightly and kneeled
inside a pentagram enclosed in a circle.
In a voice full of beauty, strength and pain she
spoke very softly words in a sacred language, a
language only a few chosen are blessed with knowing.
As rays of light from a just rising sun covered her
body she plunged a crystal blade in to her heart.
A wind suddenly appearing out of no where swirled
around her whipping her hair around her face it seemed
to pull a bright whit light out of her before fading
away as suddenly as it appeared. Looking up at the
bright sky a small smile came across her face, before
her lifeless body fell to the ground.
From a distance a man, hidden in a cloak, had stood
and watched the girl take her own life. He now moved
towards her with an air of purpose about him. He
looked down at the girl. He noted how she looked like
she was just sleeping and how much more peaceful she
looked now. Kneeling down beside her he placed his
hand on her stomach, a glow emanated from below his
hand for a moment, then vanished.
He gently moved his hand down over her face, closing
her eyes. Then he slid the crystal knife from her
chest and slipped it inside his cloak. Waving his hand
and muttering several inaudible words the pentagram,
the circle and the young girls blood stains vanished.
He lifted her into his arms and carried her to the
praying alcove of the 'Champions monument, which was
protected from the elements. Here he left her where
the local people would soon find her. This task
complete, the man turned and left. . . . . . . .
. . . . . .And so it began.
