Poem: Willow's little Lamb

"You know," Anne-Lise frowned, "when you get a song in your head,
and it won't stop bugging you? I get that a lot. Saturday, I wrote
the Well of Erin with Paul McCartney's Yesterday looping nigglingly.
And I watched Earshot (Season 3, Part 18) with Principal Snyder
having Lie Like An Egyptian stuck in his head, and then I got it
stuck in mine too. Well, Sunday, I had this stuck in my head. I hoped
by writing it down, I would exorcise it once and for all. Don't
expect it to make sense."

PS. As I post this, I finally broke free of the loop by replacing it
with Boney M's version of By The River Of Babylon.

--

Willow had a little lamb she adopted as her own.
The lamb was stolen by a vampire queen
Who entered unbidden while Willow dreamed;
God wouldn't listen to Willow's screams,
I found her crying outside her home.

Mr. Pointy dripped crimson blood from my fist
As I grimly ascended into His divine light
I walked uncowed within His sight
Through the remains of an Angel who'd tried to fight
Against my rage He couldn't resist.

Willow's little lamb once more is dust;
Heaven's gate fell to her soul's despair.
God wouldn't listen from His tower above,
So I tracked him down to His heavenly lair.

Beside that rain-sodden mound her heart calls home,
Within the Earth where her memories lay;
Nothing to stir those ancient atheist walls,
The mecca for her hopes destroyed by the day.

Anne-Lise.
