Decaying state of BuffyLovesWillow?  Now how in the world would you know if it's decaying or not?  Just because there's a decrease in posting doesn't mean that it's 'decaying'.  For example,I run the WillowSlashFic list also.... we have a mere 355 members and the last post was on April 1 when Stephen Booth issued a challenge... before that, Alex posted feedback for Triad on March 26th.  It's very sporatic that posting goes on over there......does that mean I should ask the members of that list if it's even worth it to keep it open?  I'd think not.  People are on that list because they want to read WILLOW SLASH FIC.  People are on the BuffyLovesWillow list because they want to read BUFFY LOVES WILLOW fic.  Not everyone enjoys smut or sex scenes and a lot of people find it degrading to the characters as well as the actresses.  It's their perogative to read or not to read.  Those who choose not to, belong soley to the BuffyLovesWillow list.

Never assume anything.

Yes, it is a very bad idea to 'merge' the lists.   They are seperate entities for a reason.  If you haven't read the rules or posting guidelines, let me refresh your memory.  Buffy Loves Willow is for the romantic side of their relationship.  Nothing over PG is acceptable because in reality, no one under 17 is supposed to be subscribed to the list.  If you recall when you signed up, you are required to give your birthdate in assurance that, when a list is listed as 'adult in nature' that you are unable to subscribe to it.  This, of course, is all nice in theory and I know there are a few 'underage' people subbed to BWW, but my philosophy is, if you don't publicly advertise your age, then I can't catch you and unsubb you... now can I?

Now, to back up my very strong statements, here are the offical tally's for BuffyLovesWillow and Buffy LovesWillow:

Buffy Loves Willow members:   400
Buffy Wants Willow members:  681
Number of people who are subbed to BOTH lists:  304

Which brings membership for both lists to a grand total of 777

So there are 96 people subscribed only to Buffy Loves Willow.  Big hairy deal.  Those people are on there for a reason.  Even if there were only 2 people subbed individually to that one list, I wouldn't merge it.  Simply because people are there for a reason.  I've come across a lot of underage people...mostly in the vicinity of 16-19 that are struggling with their identities, sexual and otherwise.  It may be a round about way of doing it, but the answer I get 9 times out of 10 when I ask 'why are you subbed?' is "It makes me feel more comfortable with myself and what my sexuality may be."  Of course this isn't the  main purpose of the lists, but who am I to deny something to someone if they take comfort in it and it helps them?

Lack of honest feedback, IMHO, is a personal matter.  Ask ten people what the word 'feedback' means to them concerning fic and I'm sure you'll get ten different answers.  More often than not I see in "Author's notes:  Feedback appriciated".... but when some people get it, it's just not good enough, or critical enough or praising enough. If you want a specific type of feedback, might I suggest stating so at the topof your fic.  "Honest comments and constructive criticism greatly appreciated", or "Send all feedback personally off-list".  Feedback is nice, but it's not why I write.  I write because I want to...because there's something in my head that needs to make it to the paper or the wordprocessor.  I CHOOSE to share it with 777 strangers.  I have chosen lately to not share simply because the writing isn't 'in me' right now, and I'm having real life issues of which you (collectively) know nothing about.

Another suggesting I can make is posting your fiction to http://www.fanfiction.net but here's the catch.  There are literally thousands of people posting fic for hundreds of genre's.  Anything from Popular to Harry Potter to Pokemonto Backstreet Boys ::shudder::.  I come here and I run this place becauseit's a community.  It's a tight knit community I believe that we've built and have taken time to build.  It's been over a year that these lists havebeen in existance and I can tell you right now, I had 5 people sub to BWW today alone.... subbing and unsubbing happens every day.... I know all of this for a fact... ah the joys of being a list owner.... It's just a part of "list life."

Want to establish a new list?  Knock yourself out.  No one is stopping you.  I for one enjoy reading each and every bit of fic posted on these lists be they epic or one shots.  That's what the lists are for.... fiction based on Buffy and Willow.  How can you subdivide the fiction into a oneshot list, an epic list, etc?  That's just... insane in my opinion.

These two lists are of the highest qualityaround from what I've seen of the crap there is to join on yahoo groups.  Yesthat is a very vain statement, but also a true one.  I didn't make these lists what they are.... the members did... all 777 of them, including the lurkers.  I've gotten feedback from people who have been on this list since the day it was 'born' and have never posted one word publicly.  That....in my opinion... says something.
