Disclaimers;
I don't own them, Fox, Mutant Enemy and Joss own them. Promise guys, I'll
have them
home before midnight, none the worse for wear(although they may have
something new to
think about...)

Going to need to change that one Fox don't have butt kiss to do with
anymore. UPN aka the wonderful folks from viacom/paramont evil grin)
because
fox is a bunch of goofs who let one someone steal one of their gems. With
that said love the disclaimer you use and always have. Also a pretty decent
fic even If I would have liked to be just a touch racier.

Nope, sorry, but Fox still owns Buffy. Fox is the company that produces the
show, the WB was just the network that aired it. The network airing the
show has changed, but the production company owning it has not.

Then they are even bigger fools than I suspected, I thought mutant enemy was
the production company and that's Joss's baby.

Mutant Enemy is Joss's and may own long-term rights to Buffy. But current
rights to the show are owned by Fox through a contract between Fox and Joss.
Copyright stuff gets incredibly complicated, with different people owning
different chunks of the same thing for different time periods. We're not
really sure exactly which bits are owned by Fox, and which bits are owned by
Mutant Enemy and therefore Joss, but we do know that all rights are divided
up between those two entities. The WB was just the distributor for the
finished product.
In a way, the WB were sort of renting the show to run on their network.
Their lease was up and they didn't want to pay the higher rent for a new
one, and UPN was willing to, so now UPN gets to run the show.

And yes, the WB were idiots. They thought that no one else would pay the
higher rent either, and they would get to keep the show for the old price.
They were very, very wrong.
