Greetings one and all!
Before I do anymore writing, I wanted to say a few
things about my future stories. I just finished one of my most
harrowing storylines, Return, and I'm still a little jazzed about it. As I
got to the last few chapters, I realized that I had to continue this story
beyond just bringing Buffy back. So as I finished up Return, plans started
to develop for my next big story arc, which I call "Defenders of the
Night". For the record, it's a crossover between Buffy and Disney's
Gargoyles. I'll be working on that one this week. Probably after the
season premiere actually. I already put together a Photoshop graphic
teaser, which you'll find attached to this letter.
This will be my priority story for the time
being. It's in several chapters and will essentially be an alternate sixth
season. No, I'm not going to copy plotlines from upcoming new eps,
I'll let Joss and crew go their way while I go mine. That's what I like
about fanfic. You can do your own thing, and still enjoy what the pros are
doing.
Anyway, the bad news is that some of my other
stories are moving to the back-burner. Specifically, Somewhere I Have
Never Traveled and the Third Power series. I hope to get to those at a
later date, but for now I'll be concentrating on Defenders. Don't worry,
I'll still be working on On Occasion and my contributions to Sappho's
Spell. As for Planet of Darkness, no I haven't abandoned that one
either, but I'll be re-working that storyline a little. The first four
chapters that I've posted, that's one complete story, which I'll be calling
"Escape from Tatooine". I plan to write two more stories for Planet of
Darkness, making my own little Star Wars Trilogy(it's Star Wars, of course it
has to be a trilogy, doesn't it?).
One more thing that I have to get off my
chest. For those of you who aren't familiar with the Gargoyles, the show
involves a clan of supernatural warriors, or gargoyles, who defended a Scottish
castle in the tenth century, and now defend Manhattan island from criminalsand
other threats. The reason I bring this up is that some of the action in my
story will take place in New York City.
After much rumination, I have decided thatthis
story takes place in an alternate universe where the World Trade Center wasn't
destroyed by a terrorist attack. This is not to belittle the terrible
tragedy, because it deserves to be remembered. I only know that I won't be
able to fully describe the actual attack, to give it the proper weight.
And simply putting it in the background would lessen its impact. I know
this sounds like a copout, but out of respect for those who died, and for those
heroes who were and are part of the recovery process, I cannot put this event
into the background of my story. I thank you for your
understanding.
Okay, so you know my plans. Just hang tight,
this is going to be one helluva ride!
