Hey,
You know , here I was , sitting quietly in my chair trying really
hard to catch my breath after reading the latest On occasions piece and
listening to Paul McCrane "Ïs it okay if i call you mine" and thinking how
well it fits Buffy/Willow when i saw this post ...Now, before anything i'd
like to note that i'm a HUGE B/W fan who for quite a long time had happies
when a fic dedicated at least a small part to the b/w relationship (don't
worry , that was awhile ago , we're out of that age of darkness now ), so
i take my B/W fic reading in a very serious way...The thrill i get
when i see a new fic on my mailbox when i get the chance to check it is
the same one i got more than two years ago when i saw new chapters of"Two
of a kind" hitting my mailbox...A LOT has changed since then , real life
got in the way , writers have come and gone (well, some changed only ships
, but still...) , Willow got together with that girl(i'm a little bitter
about that ) , i became the worst listdad ever...You see my point , lot
has changed, but the main reason i like this particular relationship
hasn't : they still complete each other and belong together...This iswhy
i watched season 3 a hundred times, why Wild at heart is one of my fav eps
and why Bargaining has now become my favorite season premiere , even
better than When she was bad , but mostly that is why i can't ever imagine
a fic where they don't end up together , where it doesn't work and that's
it.The end...I can see it happening to other ships , but not them...In
fact , that's one of the reasons why i stopped reading Back in Bostonand
why i won't go back until it's completed...Because i can see hapeningto
B/F or even B/S , because i think between them it is something that
wouldn't work...i can't see anything between them being deep, being
anything other than physical( and even that , i see it on Faith's and
Spike's part , not really on Buffy's) , no matter how good the fic is...I
mean , i may even see it , but only for five minutes , then i'm rightback
to the "nah , they just don't go together"stage...In order for me to
believe in it the character would have to become someone different, like
what they ended up doing with Spike on the show , and i can't see that as
a good thing...
Okay , after having said all that i have to agree with you , it would
be interesting to see how it could be handled , but at the same time i
don't want it to happen, you know what i mean...Which is not to say i
haven't given the matter any thought...While not a writer i do have some
ideas in my mind , mostly general plot lines , things that are never
especific enough to become stories but that travel around my head
nonetheless...And sadly enough that particular thought crossed my mind
quite a few times ( even more so when my own relationship started hitting
a really rocky path...) , how would it be handled , what they would be
thinking , how it would alter their friendship , would it affect the group
dynamics ...Things asked when they get together are now asked after
the break up...It's sad , but it is there...
You know , i'm a big fan of the friends in love thing ...I believe
it's the best type of relationship and the ones i'm usually rooting
for...I mean , Ross and Rachel , Dawson and Joey (yeah , i admit , i
watched it , but don't worry , only first season and half of the second ,
plus it got me in the Buffy world , so...) , Lois and Clark , Ed and Carol
...All these relationships have , in some way or another , made me watch
these shows and root for these characters , and some still do...That's why
i'm going to miss Angel this season , because i'll be watching Ed , and
it's the reason why i'll tune in Friends this season even though i don't
think the show is as good as it used to be...Because i like the
relationships, because i still think they're good couple...I mean , all
you need is to watch the past few seasons of friends to see how a
relationship could ruin a friendship , but also how it can be rebuiltand
even turn into something more , no matter how much both parts deny it...I
can see all of these character break up , hit a rocky road, fall in love
with others and then end up together again...And that's one of the reasons
why Buffy is different...Because with B/W i can never "see" them in love
with another people after having had it other... Maybe it's because ,
unlike these other ships , B/W is not about what you see, it's also about
how they got there , what may be going on inside their heads , it's not
about what they are on the show , but what they could be...And that makes
them a little bit , i dunno , utopic...All the suffering must come BEFORE
they get together, because later , with each other , they reach
perfection...
Now, are you scared of me ? : ) Don't worry , i do have a
live, i just have strong opinion when it comes to these two...
Still, you raised a very good point , kind morbid, but still a good
point...As for my own fics thoughts regarding the subject , i think it
would work if it was done in a Jerry Maguire or When Harry met Sally way
(mostly Jerry Maguire , i've had this jerry related idea in my mind for
months...) or maybe in the friends who sometimes sleep together way
because they are alone , then one gets someone , the oter realizes that
what she feels is more that just sexual and in the end they end up
together, or them having a relationship , willow leaving and then they
meeting a few years later......It doesn't matter how it happens or how
long it takes for them to get there , but by the end of the day i'll still
want them to end up together...
Okay , this didn't have a lot to deal with the original post , i
guess i just like talking about Buf and Will...It's in my DNA...
Okay i'm going now...You know , looking back on what i wrote i
remembered that i really , really , really have to go back to my english
course...I can understand almost everything that is spoken but i can't
write to save my life : (
