Greetings,
I've been lurking around here for a while, waiting for an opportune moment
to say hi. Really, that's what I was doing. Honest. And I've been
meaning to write some B/W fic as well, too. But I digress.
I recently dug up an interview with Master Joss... in the Onion, of all
places. I think this quote has some relevance to Season 6:
No one's going to go see the story of Othello going to get a peaceful
divorce. People want the tragedy. They need things to go wrong,
they need the tension. In my characters, there's a core of trust
and love that I'm very committed to. These guys would die for each
other, and it's very beautiful. But at the same time, you can't keep
that safety. Things have to go wrong, bad things have to happen.
(In case you're interested, the full article is in the 6-12 September issue.)
I don't think for a moment that Joss is going to ruin things with Willow
permanently. Not for more than, oh, a season or so. Everyone's in a tough
place emotionally right now (well, except maybe Anya) but once they work it
out they'll be the stronger for it.
I think I'm going to go write some fluff now.
