Re: [Re: OT: Tempting fate, Willow]

Greetings,
What with everybody having their own say so about this subject, and believeme
I have been reading with intrest, I figured I'd throw in my two cents.
But..let's face it..it's worth it's weight in gold.

Random Passerby: Uh..Hamlet, it's weights nothing. It's text on a computer
screen. Devoid of any mass.
Mad-Hamlet: Oh...nuts.

I am at a slight disadvantage. I havn't actually SEEN the episodes. But hey, I
wrote Prisms after not having seen BTVS for three years and competly missing
seasons three, four and five! Where's the harm in having an incredibly
overblown opinion on something like this eh?

Spike- I find this whole Spike debacble deeply disturbing. Spike was,
originally, someone you _Liked_. He was bad, he was ruthless, he was
effecient. I'd insert a quote here but it would be redundant cause..we all
know what I'm talking about. Oh..okay twist my arm. (It's called an addiction
Angel, we all have them. I believe yours is named 'Slutty the Vampire
Slayer.)

He also told the truth with flair and a sense of style. He liked hurting
people and when his usual talents were...interupted he did what he always did,
have FUN any way he could.
We admired that 'Sod the rules, I'm doing what I can, with what I can, however
I damn well please' attitude. because, at least in my case, an aspect of that
called to me. And yes, the requirements seems to be an aversion to dayling,
bad teeth and a certain lacking in the soul dept but... good lord.. you have
an eternal ability to 'Screw' society. I don't know about anybody else but
even I, happily married, good job AND a child on the way, still can be honest
enough with myself to say 'Y'know, that wouldn't be half bad.'

Spike was(note the 'was')a psycopath. A clinical..or my laymans definition of
one..definition of a psycopath. That is a person who see's the entire worldas
only there for their own benifet. But you LOVED him for it.
Now Spike's this soddin little weenie who's all puppy eyed and only
occasionally has flashes of his old.. nature. And we cannot even bring ourselves to Love Hating him for it.
The iceing on the cake is that even James Marsters is not loving who Spike is
becoming. Or so I'm heard from various grumblings.

Willow-This is scary. I don't know wether this just some very badly done
example of 'Power Corrupting' or as Kirayoshi(Take note here
Danspecter..Ki-Ra-Yoshi) put forth the idea some sort of addictive behaivor. A
Death Spiral to turn a phrase. Does anyone here exactly know what a 'Death Spiral' is? A Death Spiral is when
you bank an airplane to hard or pull up to fast and the engine stalls. Way
back in WWI getting into a Death Spiral was far too easy and nearlly
impossible to get out of. Because for some reason, the exact details escape
me, the aerolong or..whatever those flappy parts on a plane are called, jamor
something. Basically you have no control and the plane is spiraling down,
faster and faster going in a tighenting corkscrew pattern. Even if you get the
engine going again you're still screwed because there's no way out of a
Spiral. Or so anybody thought.
One guy screwed up and got caught in a Spiral and he did the one thing nobody
else thought of doing. He accelerated and pushed the joystick full foward. And
the damn thing is..he got out of it.
Then he did something really ballsy. He put himself in another Death Spiral..ON PURPOSE..and tried it again. Why am I tell you this. Because, IMO, ironically that's what Willow needs to do. The one thing she's sure will get her killed, or hurt or whatever. That being, from my POV, basically unload...say everything that's bothering
her and take the risk of basically hitting the ground at five thousand miles
per hour. Cause everything else she's doing is just accelerating that process
anyway.
Some people have taken comfort in the 'assurance' of Allyson Hannigans long
standing contract.
I wouldn't.

Yes that could mean a good thing. It could also mean the worst thing beyond
any others..or..more than one.

The first terrible possibility but easier to deal with would be that the
information is a Red Herring and in fact her time is almost up. This would be
a mistake because removing Willow would do irredeemable damage to the show.
The second possibility that reluctantly shuffled forth from the shadows of my
mine, to reveal it's corrupting horror, would be that Willow could become the
Major Bad. Something so wrong and terrible it would span seasons. Indeed would
it not be a thing of great dark beauty to see some sort of redemption occur
and things go on apace for the rest of the season and then have the last few
episodes turn incredibly black to only cultimate in the revelation that the
power behind whatever obsidian throne now present is none other than our
beloved Willow.
And it ends on that note, the season leaving us and the Scoobs sitting in a
terrible, hungry silence as Willow, half screaming in laughter, half sobbing
flees into the darkness.

To Be Continued.

And that's where Season 7 could start.

Yeah..that's a chilling prospect. And I could see Joss doing it in a heartbeat. Course it'd be his last one
cause I'd rip his heart from his chest a split second later.

Hey I'm BIASSED people!

I am pretty much prepared to allow almost anything with Willow on one
condition. If the rest of her friends do EVERYTHING they can to save her,
every plan, every spell, every last bit effort to reach out to her and give
her every chance for redemption that they gave that collosal LOSER Angel(Again
Bias kicking in at warp speed) then it will be okay.

But if we get some bullshit along the lines of..

Buffy: Oh God! It's so terrible, Willow has gone evil. She..she was my
confidant.

Tara: I loved her..what happened?

Xander: I've known her all my life. I never thought this would happen. I never
even saw it coming.

Anya: She was nice.

Dawn: She..she used to help me with my homework. And she made such good
cookies too!

Buffy: Okay. Well, I got my axe here.

Tara: I just learned a new fireball spell.

Xander: Raided the depot again. Say 'Ello to my Leetle friend!

Anya: You're not little Xander. I've made comparisions.
Xander: I was talking about my M-16 with additional strap on grenade launcher
babe.

Anya: I know. I brought grendades!

Tara: Willow liked strap-ons.

Buffy: Okay, we're set then. Let's go kill us Willow and save the day. Giles
is buying pizza.

Rest of the Gang: Pizza? Yay!

Dawn: Can I have a gun?

Then I will be so phenomnally pissed off you'll see me the light from my head
exploding on the horizon. Unless you're Quin. He's in Germany. He'd probably
get annhilated in the blast.
(sorry Quin, nothing personal.)

And that's the point I think. One of the greatest and yet most hidesous reason
why we like this show so much. Things happen and things we had no IDEA would
happen can and do happen and...for the most part
*COUGHSPIKELOVINGBUFFYBULLSHITCOUGH* make sense.

I can't say I think Joss is 'selling out' or 'trying to recreate Buffy/Angel'
cause...well..it would be too obvious and I'd like to think he's better than
that.

I'm pretty sure Willow will be okay.
I'm also pretty sure things will never be just the way 'We' want them to be
much like the Xena/Gabby thing which I was never into that much anyway.

And maybe that's for the better because it leaves so much more open to us. Course..I wouldn't mind a LEETLE canon confirmation.

Either way I'm pretty much open on the whole subject as long as it's handled
appropiatly as the tragedy it truly would be and reconciliations were
attempted. Nay, dare say succedeeded with.

Buffy and Willow.

Do not cross a storyteller.
A storyteller is, perhaps, the most powerful thing in all of creation.
At their beck and call they have the powers of What Might be, What Could Be,
What Should Be and What Will Be.
All anyone else has is What Is. All the pontential versus mere reality.
