I thought I'd offer my 2 cents as our 4th/5th down the line moderator asked from us. I'd just like to say 2 things first. 1) Thanks Dan for adding some spark to this list. Its great to have some interaction. 2) I tend to look for the silvery lining in all eps...because I LOVE BtVS and, well..I just love it...thats all.

I enjoyed the episode.... but it didn't really get going until the 2nd half of the ep. It definitely moved the story along though. There was one, very short scene just after Dawn and Willow went to the Bronze that showed Buffy trying to get the grass stain out of her jacket. She had on some very sad, almost Patsy Cline of the '02's sounding music that I'd never heard before, and looked just as pathetic as ever. That to me was the pivotal part of the episode. That to me was when Buffy finally gave herself the alone time she’s needed away from the convenient distraction known as Spike, and away from running from her&n bsp;SAD life - and dealt.
As far as B/W moments/subtext...I thought Willow was very charming...but there was a time when Riley/Sam, Anya/Xander and Buffy / Willow were sitting all couply in the living room discussing the newest developments (just before Sam asked Willow to do a spell) that I really liked. No, B/W are not together in a romantic sense...but they're together. They live in the house together, Willow is the parent/friend that Dawn needs right now - and Willow watches Buffy's back. I liked that scene a lot.
So, I think they're possibly paving the way for a B/W couple in the future...maybe Season 7. That won't happen however with Tara in the picture...but at least if Tara's around next season (don't know yet cuz she’s not signed as a regular) - B/W's friendship I think its going to start getting strong again.
I've read on several boards how Angel's plot this season is so much more focused than Buffy's plot. I think that’s to be expected...and as much as I've Hated the B/S b.s. we've gotten this season, the arch has accomplished something for me at least. What’s the arch you say?? Well, Buffy has come back from 'heaven' supposedly and she has no fire, no focus in her life. That’s pretty much how the episodes of Buffy have been this season...no fire, and no focus. I feel like I'm re-living my late teens/early twenties all over again when I first started to go through the "Oh my God, what am I going to do with my life" stage. Gosh, this season of Buffy has been unlike any show I've ever seen. Angel on the other hand has a baby, and he’s more focused about his life that’s he’s been. The plots though are pretty conventional...for M.E. that is. Buffy is treading water as its always done...trying things that other shows can't. And I got the feeling from tonights ep that Buffy might just pull it off.
So, to finish up here...I liked the ep. I'm glad there was some closure for Buffy where Riley is concerned...and thank you writers for having someone other than the core Scoobs remind Buffy who the hell she is (a strong woman according to Riley...a woman who can obviously say goodbye to Spike...and hopefully mean it)...cuz it looks like something stuck in her head. Finally, that last scene when she told William she was sorry...then walked out of the crypt and looked up...that was awesome. It showed promise in my mind....I think maybe Buffy is back...at least I hope it this time.
