OT: "Buffy" makes TV Guide's Top 50 shows of all time!
Next week's TV Guide will feature a list of the Top 50 shows of all
time. Buffy clocks in at #41, which is pretty good for a show that gets
no respect.
There will also be a TV special, airing Monday, May 13th on ABC. (Hmm,
wonder what clip they'll play? The end of "Becoming, Part 2" is too
long. Perhaps the "I Quit" scene from "Prophecy Girl"?)
Of course, the list, like all these lists, is crap. I mean, "Star Trek"
doesn't make it, but "Star Trek: The Next Generation" does? WTF??
Or how about "Law & Order" clocking in at #24, but no "Homicide" or
"NYPD Blue"? And where's "Dallas", which not only swamped TV with
nighttime soaps for a decade, but gave birth to the whole concept of arc
storytelling? (Mind you, that would be a vote more for impact than
actual quality, IMO)
And what the hell is "The Andy Griffith Show" doing all the way at #9?
If you want lowbrow, heavily-rerun comedy, you might as well put in "The
Beverly Hillbillies" and "The Brady Bunch" and "Gilligan's Island" and
"Hogan's Heroes", fer pete's sake. Heck, why not "Mr. Ed", while we're
at it?
Anyhow, gripes aside, nice to see "BtVS" honored. Click on the link
below for the full story.
