Chapter 15

"It's worth more than that!" Faith shouted.

"I'm sorry, but the inscription makes it worth a lot less," The pawn shop
owner stated. "I told you that the last time you were here."

"Bullshit," It's worth ten times what you're asking?"

"Ten times?" The owner laughed, "I doubt it was worth two times of what I'm
asking, when you bought it."

Faith shook her head.

"Look kiddo, if you ask me, you should probably keep it. This guy seems
really important to ya."

"Girl," Faith corrected.

"Yeah, whatever, just keep the damn thing."

"What for? She won't want it."

"You sure about that?"

"Maybe."

"Don't sound so sure to me. Keep it," The owner slid the bracelet back to
Faith.

Faith took the bracelet back and read the inscription once again, before
stuffing it back into her pocket and leaving.

******

Faith slammed the motel room door shut, the icy wind dumping a fair amount
of snow inside before the door closed.

"Damn, where the hell did that come from?" Faith commented, looking up to
see Buffy, Dawn, and Willow engaged in a game of monopoly on the far bed.

"I dunno," Buffy replied, but our flight's cancelled.

"What?" Faith groaned.

"Yeah, Willow just called the airport and all flights back to Sunnydale are
cancelled."

"So we won't make it back for Christmas?"

"Doesn't look like it."

"Shit," Faith muttered.

"What's wrong?" Dawn questioned.

"I just wanted to give your mom a gift, for being so nice and all, letting
me stay at your place and stuff."

Buffy and Dawn couldn't help but smile.

"It's m'okay," Buffy said softly, "you can give it to her when we get back."

"Did you call her, to tell her?" Faith asked.

"Yeah, ten minutes ago," Buffy replied. "She was disappointed, but she said
she'd make a big Christmas dinner for us when we got back."

"That's my Joyce," Faith smiled, before sitting down at the edge of the bed
and messing up the monopoly board.

"Hey!" Buffy, Dawn and Willow yelped.

"Don't blame me. You girls started without me," Faith smirked. "By the
way, where the hell did you girls get a monopoly board from?"

******

Willow moved her monopoly piece slowly, hoping that her calculations were
wrong, and that she wasn't about to land on Faith's heavily hoteled
Boardwalk property.

"Come on, Red, speed it up!" Faith shouted.

Willow grumbled, before placing her piece on Faith's property.

"Bankrupt!" Faith shouted, causing Willow to frown.

"I hate this game," Willow stated.

"Cuz you lost, but if you always win like me, then it's fun, see?" Faith
held up her property cards and cash. "And since I win, you girls get
cleanup duty."

"Fine," Buffy and Willow frowned.

Dawn was more than happy to join in on Faith's victory, as she had
semi-helped her along. Of course, Buffy and Willow had pleaded with Dawn
not to give Faith Park Place in a trade, but Dawn insisted it was a good
deal, knowing Faith would get that entire side with hotels.

"Damn I'm good," Faith sighed, looking at her Monopoly victory.

"I say rematch," Buffy challenged.

"Just say when," Faith replied.

"How about now?"

"Now." Willow whined, "It's 3 a.m."

Buffy looked at her watch, "When did it become 3 a.m.?"

"Just now, which means we should've fallen asleep a long time ago," Willow
pouted.

"Fine," Buffy conceded, "but I want that rematch," Buffy demanded.

"Anytime, girlfriend," Faith replied, glad to get another opportunity to
beat Buffy's butt."

"I'm sleepy," Dawn stated, rubbing her eyes.

"Then go to sleep sweetie," Buffy replied.

"But all this stuff is on the bed."

"Here, just a sec," Buffy used her arms to funnel all the pieces and cash
onto the game board, before lifting it up and putting it on the floor.

Buffy looked up to see Dawn cuddle up to Faith under the covers, while
Willow snuggled into their bed, close to the door.

Buffy shook her head, before going to shut off the lights, and jumped into
bed beside Willow.

The redhead quickly snuggled into the Slayer's side, enjoying the warmth of
her body.

******

Faith awoke with Dawn curled up against her. The younger brunette seemed
content to stay where she was forever.

Faith rubbed her eyes and looked over at the other bed, where Willow was
sleeping alone.

The Dark Slayer did a double take. Where the hell's Buffy? Faith thought.
Faith looked to the bathroom, but the door was wide open with no one in
sight.

Faith looked around the rest of the motel room, which wasn't much, and
couldn't see the petite blonde anywhere.

The snow storm raged on outside, and Faith was sure if she turned on the
news, it'd say no change in the flight cancellations.

Where the hell's Buffy? Faith thought again, shaking her head.

Dawn murmured something incoherent against the Dark Slayer's chest.

"Hey," Faith whispered softly, hoping to wake the younger Summers.

Dawn murmured some more, but didn't wake.

"Hey Red," Faith whispered across the room, but Willow remained asleep as
well.

She's probably training. Faith thought. Yup, training in the snow. Girl
from L.A. training in the snow. Faith repeated in her mind over and over
again before drifting off to sleep once more.

******

Buffy burst through the motel room door, nearly taking the door off it's
hinges, before slamming it back closed.

The Slayer shook off the snow from her body, while Faith, Dawn and Willow
stared.

"What?" Buffy asked, shaking off more snow.

"Where the hell have you been?" Faith asked.

"Training," Buffy answered succinctly.

"In a snow storm?" Willow questioned.

"What's wrong with a snow storm?" Buffy replied.

"Nothing," Willow said, "Except for the fact that's it's freezing cold and
wet."

"I'm a Slayer, doesn't bother me."

"I'm a Slayer too, not to mention from Boston, but even I don't train in a
snow storm," Faith added.

"So?" Buffy shrugged.

"Just saying," Faith said.

An awkward silence fell over the room before Dawn spoke up, "Did you bring
us breakfast?"

"I knew there was somethin' I forgot," Buffy said dryly. "What do girls
want?"

"You're going back out there?" Willow inquired.

"Why not? Already cold and wet."

"Good point," Faith smiled, "I'll take some pancakes, sausages, waffles."

"Okay, not meals on wheels here," Buffy drawled.

"It's fine, Buffy," Dawn interjected, playfully nudging Faith in the side,
"I'm sure we'll be happy with whatever you can muster."

"Okie dokie," Buffy replied, turning around, opening the door, and entering
the freezing cold once again.

******

"This is great, Buffy," Willow stated, stuffing another piece of pancake
into her mouth.

"Yeah, the best," Faith added, "Where the hell did you get his?"

"Some place down the road."

"It's actually open?" Dawn questioned.

"Apparently," Buffy mumbled through a mouthful. "Everything else is closed.
You'd think people were lining up at the DMV."

"I'm just glad I don't have to hear Faith's tummy anymore," Dawn drawled,
poking the Dark Slayer in the stomach.

"Hey, eating here," Faith mumbled, stuffing her mouth with food.

"Will we be eating this good, for Christmas tomorrow?" Dawn questioned.
"You betcha," Buffy mumbled.

******

Christmas Eve went relatively quietly, except for Faith's monopoly victory
and Buffy's demand for a rematch. The blonde Slayer insisted Dawn was
purposely helping Faith win, but Dawn denied it, so Buffy demanded a
one-on-one match with Faith instead.

Faith won anyway, putting an end to Buffy's cries for fairness.

Willow insisted on drawing numbers to determine gift opening order, much to
everyone else's dismay, but they all agreed.

******

Christmas morning.

"This is so rigged," Faith complained. "Willow going first in her own
draw."

"Hey, this was a random draw, how could it be rigged?" Willow said
defensively.

"I dunno, magic?" Faith replied.

"I didn't use magic," Willow cried, "This was all fair."

"Whatever, just open them already," Faith said, leaning against the
headboard of the bed.

"Fine," Willow replied, taking Buffy's gift and carefully peeling off the
wrapping

"The Book of Thesala," Willow read out loud. "How'd you know?"

"You were talking about it one day," Buffy blushed, as Willow brought the
Slayer into a hug.

"I thought you weren't even listening."

"That was my way of throwing you off."

"Well, it worked. I was expecting the Guinness Book of World Records,"
Willow drawled.

Woops. Faith thought.

"Open mine," Dawn suggested.

"Okay," Willow smiled, taking Dawn's gift and unwrapping it. "The Book of
Kalia. How'd you know, Dawn?"

"Buffy told me," Dawn admitted. "You like?"

"I love," Willow smiled, hugging the younger Summers.

"So, I guess it's Faith's gift now," Willow stated, taking the gift, which
promised to be another book, and unwrapped it. "The Book of Guinness. The
Guinness Book of World Records, thanks Faith," Willow said with feigned
enjoyment.

"Whatever," Faith shrugged.

"No really, Faith, I mean, it'll go nicely with all my other editions."

"Sure, whatever."

Willow awkwardly moved to hug Faith, and Faith reluctantly allowed her.

"See, now it's your turn, Faith, how could it be rigged?" Willow asked.

Faith simply exhaled.

"Open mine!" Dawn squealed, shoving her present into Faith's lap.

Faith tore the wrapping off of the tiny box, revealing a silver watch,
"Thanks Sunshine."

Dawn smiled and hugged Faith, "I just figured, you needed one, considering
you're always late, and stuff."

"Yeah, this should help, plus it looks like it could do some damage in a
fight," Faith drawled.

Dawn giggled happily.

Faith reached for the next present on the bed, which happened to be
Willow's, and tore it open, all while, Dawn stayed draped over Faith.

"An alarm clock." Faith trailed off, "thanks Red."

"Your welcome," Willow replied sheepishly.

"So, Buffy, I'm guessing you got me an ogre to bash me over the head when
it's time to wake up?"

"Here," Buffy blushed, handing the medium sized box to Faith.

Faith took it, and slowly peeled the wrapping off, revealing a jewelry box.
Faith, opened the box to reveal a silver bracelet, which remarkably looked
like the one she'd bought not too long ago.

"Wow, B, thanks," Faith stated coolly, although her insides were melting.

"Read the inscription," Buffy suggested.

Faith turned the bracelet over. Oh shit. Faith thought, as she read the two
words in her head.

"Chosen 2?" Willow read out loud.

"Chosen what?" Dawn asked, reading the words for herself.

"Thanks, B, I dunno what to say."

"You already did," Buffy blushed, taking the bracelet from Faith and
carefully placing it on Faith's left wrist.

Dawn frowned, taking the present Faith had gotten her and began opening it,
"My turn," Dawn shouted, tearing the wrapping off the medium sized box.

"No, wait!" Faith cried, trying to stop the younger brunette, but Dawn had
already opened the box, revealing a silver bracelet.

"That looks like the one Buffy got Faith," Willow observed.

Dawn turned the bracelet over and read, "Chosen 2?"

Buffy sat frozen, unable to speak.

"What does this mean?" Dawn asked.

Faith had her face in her palm, shaking her head. Damn it. Faith thought.
"Buffy." Faith trailed off.

"No," Buffy shook her head, "no." Buffy cried, crawling off the bed and
running to the bathroom.

"Shit," Faith muttered chasing after her. "Shit."

To be continued.
