Re: Beneath You review-addenda

Okay,

I
was

wrong,

I have more thoughts than
just those

All of this has to do with Spike. Clearly, I was trying to repress.

6) Let me get this straightwe're supposed to feel sorry for Spike
because he has a soul? Because he got **exactly what he asked for**??
WTF?

I mean, what did he think a soul does, anyway? You'd think that with
all the years of mocking Angel for the tortured brooding thing, he might
have glommed that vampire+soul=something other than happy-happy-joy-joy.
I grant you that Spike isn't exactly the sharpest stake in the cemetery,
but still...

7) Spike thought that Buffy would love him if he got a soul? Er, why?
(See above about Spike being not very smart.) Does Buffy fall in love
with every souled fellow she passes? Hasn't Xander, the nice soulful
friend, been around forever, and gotten exactly zero Buffy-booty out of
it? Didn't Buffy pretty much make it clear that she only used him
because he **didn't** have a soul, and once she saw him as something
other than an undead dildo, she had to stop?

Maybe Spike should date Faith. Not only does his attraction to Buffy
spring from how Faith-in-Buffy cockteased him ("Who Are You"), but she's
not very smart, either. ("Faith, a word of advice: you're an idiot."
Yup.)

8) If Buffy wanted a vampire with a soul, dontcha think she'd already
be in LA?

9) We're supposed to feel sorry now for Spike because Buffy used him
just for sex? Because Buffy didn't wuvvvv him? Because all he can
think of as his lot in life is to "service the girl"?

Gee, I could see how heartbreaking this would be, except that:

"Spike KNEW Buffy spent time with him not out of affection, but
because she was afraid to be with the ones she really did love (and
since the resurrection was expressly made AllWillow'sFaultbut I won't
go on that tangent), remember?

"A whisper in a dead man's ear, that doesn't make it real"

"Buffy told him right up front that it was purely physical:

"This isn't real, but I just want to feel...."

"When he said she couldn't stop coming back in "Wrecked" he made no
pretensions to her loving him, he just stressed her sexual desire:

"I'm in your blood, now; you're gonna crave me"

"Although he was upset that he couldn't "have all of her" in "Gone" ,
he got over that very quickly, as the "Doublemeat Palace" dumpster sex
proved. Methinks he just was upset that her invisibility gave her too
much control over the situation.

"When Buffy dumps him for EXACTLY THIS REASON in "As You Were" (she's
just using him), he tells her it doesn't bother him and urges her to
keep doing it.

"In the teaser for "Entropy", he wants to get back together with her,
despite the fact that nothing has changed, that she would still be using
him.

But now it's just an awful thing she did to him, is that it? Just as
bad as the rape was, even? Blow me.

Retcons=suck

10) Wouldn't it be humane to stake him? The vampire demon hates having
the soul, and the soul of William should be freed to ascend to heaven (a
heaven that Buffy has first-hand knowledge of its existence, I remind
you), shouldn't it?

Let's not forgetAngel's having his soul is a CURSE, a punishment
jointly inflicted on Liam and Angelus for purpose of a greater good.
Spike has no such raison d'etrelet Spike and William both 'rest', why
don't you? They seem to want it...
