Challenge!!!
I've written the beginning of a scene in script
form. Here's the challenge.
1. Don't continue the script. . .turn it into a
fic
2. Set before "Conversations With Dead
People"
3. MUST include the following:
Dawn, Xander and Anya interrupting
their conversation one at a time at key points
Buffy trying to comfort Willow, and
Willow pushing her away
A conversation about their fight at the
end of "Grave"
Buffy saying, "How can I forgive you
when I can't even forgive myself for letting it go that far?"
Willow's eyes turning
black
Buffy running out on the conversation,
getting into a brawl with vamps in a cemetary and Willow saving
her.
it starts raining (Buffy or Willow use
it as a metaphor for cleansing)
Two 'almost' kisses (one is interrupted
by someone walking in but that person is clueless about what's
happening)

INTERIOR NIGHT. SUMMERS HOME. WILLOW IS
SITTING AT THE DESK IN HER ROOM WITH A BOOK IN
FRONT OF HER.
[PHONE RINGS]
WILLOW: Hello? Yes. . . [A FEW SECONDS
PASS. HER FACE CHANGES FROM CONFUSION TO BEING UPSET] Oh, hi.
Yes, I-I no I can't. . .I appreciate the offer but no. . .[BECOMES MORE UPSET]
No. That's not how it happened, I. . .I can't because it's gone a-and I
wouldn't anyway! I don't owe you an explanantion. [HANGS UP
PHONE]
WILLOW SIGHS AND RISES FROM HER CHAIR. SHE MOVES TO
LEAN ON THE DESK AND LOOK OUT THE WINDOW.
WILLOW: [WHISPERS] That's not how it
happened.
BUFFY IS STANDING JUST OUTSIDE WILLOW'S ROOM. SHE
OVERHEARD THE PHONE CALL AND STANDS IN THE DOORWAY.
BUFFY: [QUIETLY] Will? [SHE MOVES INTO THE
ROOM WHEN THERE IS NO RESPONSE.] Hey. You okay?
WILLOW: That was Amy. She wanted to know if I
was free tonight. [SHE SHRUGS] She, um, heard about [PAUSES] . .
.about the temple. [SMILES BITTERLY] She wanted me to show it to
her.
BUFFY: [CONFUSED] Proserpexa?
WILLOW: [NODS] Yeah. She wanted to know if I could
go have some fun [ROLLS EYES], you know, since I'm this big bad uber-witch
now. [SHAKES HEAD] She doesn't get it, Buffy.
BUFFY: I know, Will.
WILLOW: See, that's the thing. [TURNS TO FACE
BUFFY] You don't. [QUIETLY] No one does.
BUFFY: Willow. I want to. [REACHES TO
TOUCH WILLOW'S ARM. WILLOW PULLS AWAY. BUFFY LOOKS WOUNDED.] I
can't understand if you you don't talk to me. How long have you been
back? How many conversations have we had that *didn't* involve some baddy
of the week? [WILLOW TURNS BACK TO THE WINDOW] Will. [QUIETLY] Why won't
you let us in? *Me* in?
[WILLOW IS QUIET FOR A LONG TIME]
WILLOW: It's complicated.
BUFFY: Will, I. . .
WILLOW: [SHAKES HEAD] No, I-I can't. The
power I have inside of me [PAUSES] it's there all the time. Now I know how
Oz felt. [PAUSES] I feel it humming inside me. Some days, it's
better than others. It's the 'others' part that [STOPS AND SIGHS] I
miss her. So. Much. If she were here. . .
BUFFY: [QUIETLY] I'm sorry I couldn't stop
him. . .[MEEK VOICE] I'm sorry I couldn't save her for you.
WILLOW: [MONOTONE] I don't blame you, Buffy. I
blame myself.
