RE: FF snippet/crossover

Thank you for the great crossover story. Stargate SG-1 is one of my favorite
shows. I am waiting eagerly for more.

A Slayer at the Gate

Crossover: BtVS & Stargate SG-1

The Magic Box was unusually quiet today. Normally
at this time of day, a fairly short blonde could be
found pounding on a heavy bag or spinning around on a
pommel horse.
Yet today, the training room remained empty, the few
people allowed in this special room were seated out in
the main portion of the shop, either leaning against a
counter or seated at a table that defied physics by
not collapsing under the weight of so many books and a
pizza box.
Buffy summers looked up from "Sir Thomas Colson's
Manual on Egyptian Demons"; "I'm can't read anymore.
My eyes can't focus." Across the table, Willow
Rosenberg looked up from her own heavy book and cocked
an eyebrow. "I'm serious.I need a break." She blinked
owlishly before standing. She immediately fell against
the table with a chuckle. Again the eyebrow rose on
the redhead. "My foot's asleep." she grinned and hid a
blush as the blonde Slayer stumbled around the room to
re-circulate blood into the tingling appendage.
Anya growled and turned a page in Grayman's
almanac. Only two customers the entire day and then
all this reading had made her angry. The former
Vengeance demon would have at that moment thrown the
book at the Ex watcher who'd made her read stuffy
books all day when the phone began to ring. Everyone
jumped at the welcome yet sudden interruption. Anya
picked up the receiver, "Magic Box, you're one stop
occult shop for all your mystical needs, how can I
help you?"
Giles turned to Tara and whispered across the
counter, "She's gotten better with the telephone." The
blonde witch smiled and nodded before returning her
eyes to the musty tome before her. "I still can't
identify this Egyptian Demon."
Anya's eyes widened slightly and she held out the
phone. "Willow, It's you're Mother." Blankly, every
eye in the shop turned to Willow.
"You're mom knows the phone number here?" Buffy was
still amazed the redhead's Mother, a woman whose
neglect of the girl was legendary, would bother to
find the store's number.
Willow simply shook and put the receiver to her
ear. "Mom? Yeah, Uh, no. Uh huh." Buffy's curiosity
was rising and reached a high point when Willow's
green eyes widened and she smiled brilliantly. "Ok,
mom. I've gotta go. Yes. I'll be over in a few
minutes. Bye." She deactivated the telephone and set
it on the telephone. "My Uncle's coming."
Xander snapped his head up from the shops only copy
of Egyptian Hieroglyphics for Dummies. "Jack? Your
Uncle Jack is coming?"
"Uh huh." Willow's smile grew even wider as she saw
the confusion in the Slayer's eyes. "My Uncle Jack is
pretty cool. He's an Air force Colonel, assigned to
all sorts of covert stuff." Seeing Buffy's eyes narrow
she hastily corrected herself, "Not like Initiative
covert, more black ops type. No vampire and demon
studying." Her eyes grew wide in fear of scaring her
friend.
"Oh. When's he coming?" Buffy asked, wondering if
she had enough time to get out of Sunnydale, maybe go
to L.A.
"Tomorrow morning, he's on leave and he a few
friends are coming out to visit."

Stargate Command
Cheyenne Mountain

Daniel Jackson leaned back in his office chair and
looked across the book and paper strewn desk at the
older man lounging cross armed in the doorway and
wondered how he was going to finagle his way out this
time. "Honestly Jack, I have to much work to do here,
we're still translating all those jpegs of glyphs
taken from. from P39-244; and I still."
Colonel Jack O'Neil sighed and dropped his arms.
"We're not going Fishing, Daniel."
"Oh. I'm in." The flustered civilian scientist
suppressed a sigh of relief and stood.

Jack got virtually the same response from the rest
of his team, blatantly disguised reluctance to go
fishing yet equally hidden relief at the real trip. As
he walked back to his quarters, Jack decided to just
not ask his "friends" to go fishing with him anymore.
In his quarters, Jack sat at the desk and propped his
boots on the surface of the desk, the corner of which
was heavily scuffed and scratched from just such
repeated acts.
Opening a drawer, he pulled out a framed picture
and looked at it, taken about five years ago, shortly
before his son. Jack steered his mind away from that
thought before the tears came again. Charlie stood
next to his bike while his cousin Willow stood next to
hers.
The redhead was the daughter of his adopted
brother, Ira and his wife Sheila. They lived in the
small California city of Sunnydale. It would be good
to see some family again. After Sam's Father, visited
from the Tok'Ra; he'd been missing his own family.
SG1 rarely had leave simultaneously, so they, on
occasion, took their leave together. Major Samantha
carter probably would not have agreed to go had her
adopted "little sister" Cassandra not gone off to
summer camp. Two weeks at the beach sounded perfect
after gating to two hot and humid jungles and a
particularly cold tundra region. And a brief stop over
to visit some family was an added bonus.

Major Samantha Carter suppressed a wince as the
Chief Medical Officer of the SGC pulled a third glass
fragment from Sam's hand. "Sam, next time you feel
inclined to change a light bulb, don't. That's what
the maintenance staff is for." Dr. Janet Fraiser
remarked amazed at how accident-prone the members of
SG-1 could be. The spritely doctor irrigated the small
lacerations on her friends hand with saline and began
to wrap the Major's hand with clean bandages. "Now,
Sam. What did we learn from this?" the Doctor's tone
dripping with playful sarcasm.
"Run with scissors?" The blonde replied cheerily,
half eager to leave the Doctor's company, half looking
for ways to injure herself more; simply to stay in her
company.
"Funny." Janet felt the tips of her fingers burn at
the contact with the one person she couldn't have.
Having long ago locked away the desire she felt, Janet
Smiled as calmly as she could as Sam left the
infirmary and resolved herself to a long, cold shower.
