I'm kinda liking it. I'm still not happy about Buffy being on
death row. I'm hoping she gets out of it somehow (did I mention
I have a gun, and know how to use it, apropos nothing of course,
I wonder why I thought of that? :-)).

Deathrow inmates have no contact with the general prison
population and virtually none with each other. The cell blocks
are even designed so that people in one cell can't see into
another. Death row inmates shower alone (well watched by 2-3
guards but no other prisoners in the shower room at the time).


For 24 - 72 hours (depending on the local procedures and the
state of the victim of execution (official DoC term)) before the
sceduled time the prisoner is kept in solitary confinement in the
Death House. They are frequently drugged to keep them malleable.

Incidentally the net cost of keeping a prisoner in high to medium
security for 40 years runs to about 200,000 - 300,000 US$. To
keep them on death row for 14 years (the average length of time
between sentencing and execution) costs between 1.5 and 2 million
US$ (figures supplied by US DoJ/DoC report 1995).
