AUTHOR'S NOTES: Yet another short story 'series' about Willow/Buffy coming
together and the interactions of the other Slayerette (ie Xander). Not
directly linked to any other story, just a common theme.

They stood before me, Willow draped over Buffy like a red haired blanket.
Their contempt for me evident in their body language. They knew the infinite
pain I was going through just looking at them like that, but they cared not
one bit.
"Xander, you are so pathetic. Look at you. Standing there like some lost
little boy, hoping someone will take pity on you and take you home. Well,
nobody is coming for you Xander." Willow said in such a condescending tone
that I had to force myself not to hit her. Buffy smiled at the visible sting
that Willow's comment caused.
"What's a matter Xander? Truth beginning to hurt? It's no wonder that I
turned you down. You are pathetic, lame, a loser, the world's greatest joke.
You don't see the blindingly obvious until it is far too late. Isn't that
right Will?" Buffy asked.
"You could have had me, Xander. I was yours for the taking. Even after I
went out with Oz you still could have had me. But no, you chickened out; let
Oz take what was yours. You are a coward, you let others step all over you."
Willow sneered.
"Damn it Willow! I loved you. I loved both of you. I would have done
anything for you. But I wasn't going to ruin the friendship we had. If you or
Buffy were going to love me, I wanted it to be because of me, not what
display of testosterone I could give. Buffy, remember the time that you came
onto me while under that love spell. I meant everything I said. If you didn't
fall for the real Xander then too bad!" I yelled.
Buffy looked at me with the eyes of a cold hearted killer. "I don't fuck
losers."
"Oh yeah? Does the name Parker ring a bell? I know that being a slayer
make you hornier than a longboat full of Vikings but.." I smiled a
particularly nasty smile "you've gone down on more people than the Titanic."
I could see that this line of attack was working and I pressed the advantage.
"Buffy, you may have been the chosen one, but when it came to the bedroom
you weren't too fussed on who you chose." I gestured wildly "Step right up
and take a ride on the Slayer! Group discounts available!" I could see Willow
smiling at Buffy's growing anger at my attack. She must have thought it was
funny, but then I have always been able to make her laugh. What came next
wiped the smile off her face.
"Don't you laugh too hard Willow. I know why you liked bananas so much,
and it wasn't for the eating." The smile was gone from her face and wild
anger took its place. "That's right! I saw what you got up to at night. I
used to sit up in the tree outside your room and watch you do it. Poor
Willow. So desperate for dick she had to settle for the banana like a dumb
monkey. I pity Oz, having to spend a fortune on banana flavoured condoms just
so you would get in the mood." I spoke with as much condescending tone as I
could muster. Inside I hurting too much to bear. I didn't like using these
personal attacks but I had to in order to buy time. In the end I knew that
what we said here didn't matter, not in the long run.
"I took everything you loved, Xander. I took away Jesse. I took away
Willow. I took away everything and you can't do jack about it." Buffy flared.
I heard a sound behind me and nodded my head sadly.
"Yes Buffy, you did take everything away from me. Except my love for you
two. You know, you aren't the only one who can take things away." I said
sadly. "Giles!"
The crossbow bolt hummed past me and struck Buffy through the heart.
Willow watched as her undead lover turned to dust. She looked at me with such
sadness that I will never again feel happiness. Her features are forever
burned into my mind and soul. Her last words before my stake claimed her will
hurt me more than anyone could ever hope to do.
"Xander, I lov..." the rest was carried away by the wind which blew her
dust into my face. But it wasn't the dust that brought tears to my eyes. It
was the loss.
