Regarding Buffy and Riley, in "The Replacement", Buffy wondered whether Riley would prefer her if she wasn't the Slayer, and Riley said something like "There is nothing about you that I'm not in love with". Now, from what I understand, the November sweeps plotline will involve not only the secrets of Tara and Dawn, but a major revelation regarding Buffy. I wonder what that revelation will do to Riley.

Regarding Riley himself; I don't quite hate him as much as I did last season, but I still don't see him and Buffy going long term. I think the real problem with Riley is that he's "Buffy's Boyfriend", and that's all he is. I mean, he has no identity beyond being Buffy's boyfriend. Now that he's out of the Initiative, he has no real purpose. What Joss should have done was flesh out Riley last season before getting him and Buffy involved. That way, if it didn't work out, we'd still have a decent character. As it is, she may as well date a cardboard cut-out for all the chemistry they posess.

Other things I like this season; they're doing more with Willow than making her the resident gay character. If she and Tara ever break up, there will be a problem however, namely that there is no other gay female character for Willow to get involved with. Joss will only have three choices; 1) have Willow go back to guys and forget she's gay, 2) have her become celibate, and in all likelyhood drift into the background(God forbid), and 3) the preferred choice of the list, have her and Buffy explore a more romantic relationship. I hope that if it doesn't workout with Tara, Willow will still be as vibrant and lovely a character as she ever was.
