They could have been a: Russian Orthodox Monks, monks pretty much look the

since the 1960s so its entirely possible, however the best bet is a if Joss

"Being of pure energy doesn't really mean that much I don't think. If you 
subscribe to the teachings of the Catholic Church then everyone has a soul 
which can best be desribed as "pure energy" (at least that's what my priest 
told me in Confirmation class) so Dawn being made of pure energy doesn't 
really make her any different than Buffy or Joyce or Willow.

Okay, first of all let me say the Cheese Man is cool to the nth degree. So 
very David Lynch. Anyway, I hope to hell this isn't what he's planning 
because I watched a couple of these bizzarely religious new episodes of Xena 
(and this might make me a little unpopular here but...) they were retarded. 
I saw one a couple of weeks ago wherein Xena it turns out, not God, was 
responsible for sending Lucifer to Hell. Ouch. Anyway totally off topic, 
the point is I think that Xena started to fall apart when it started getting 
overly religious and I hope Joss doesn't do the same thing to Buffy. 
Although now I do have this hiliarious image of Joyce wearing blue dresses 
all the time and buffy eating locusts and honey in the wilderness.
