I couldn't agree more. It would be an absolute shame to lose ANY writer as
a result of this mess but particularly one as gifted as Shyfox. I voted
for her in some but not all of the categories she won in but certainly
don't begrudge her in ANY of her wins. All the nominees were worthy of
winning IMHO but as in any competition there are winners and others that
don't win.
The real LOSERS in all of this are those who couldn't be bothered to vote.
It's bad enough that the lurkers (including myself here) take advantage of
all the great fics posted here without always letting the authors know how
much we enjoy them. The least that we lurkers should do is to take the
time once a year to vote. Assuming that the count of 50 votes is accurate
and assuming that there is a combined membership of 650 or so (I'm guessing
that 2/3 of the 'loves' list is also a member of the 'wants' list) that
leaves around 600 who didn't care enough to vote. Shame on you all. Let's
do better next year - the writers deserve it. Michael
