Actually I don't think Buffy is homophobia in the classic you are going to
burn in hell way. Or homophobia in anyway. 

It's more a now I have to deal with it in my backyard thing. It's like my
mother. She has know I was gay since I was in high school but she still
doesn't say the words. And if she does she whispers them. She freaks when
she see two girls kiss on the TV. "It gross" And yet she isn't really
homophobic. She just doesn't know how to deal.

And when I saw Buffy's reaction to Willow in New Moon. I thought, hey how
many times have I seen friends do that to me. And they are still friends.
It's just that it took them a minute or to, to adjust.

That is what I meant by homophobic earlier. I think Buffy has issues with
Willow. Not politics, I think she is still adjusting to her life style
changes. Remember in the last ep where Xander and Buffy are talking and
wondering if it was going to be a wiccian crowd and if the were going to fit
in. 

Joss uses the whole spell casting and Wiccian thing as a cover for lesbians/
kissing/ sex. To me what they were saying is, its going to be a gay thing
and I am not sure we will fit it. 

Now if Dawn was gay as well. I like stories that deal with teenagers coming
out. Anyway that bring those issues home for Buffy.
