When Spike first appeared in 'School Hard' he said to Angel - 'You were my
Sire!' Also Giles in looking at Watcher Journals says that Spike is close
to 200 years old. Later Joss said in and interview that Dru sired Spike,
causing all sorts of confusion and chaos. (Now we know where Ethan comes
from) Still later Joss has said that he conciders vampires to refer to
every 'ancestor' before them as a 'Sire'. Therefore Dru is Spike's Sire and
so is Angela, Darla and The Master would be as well. 

Personally I say, 'Bollocks, Angel sired Spike, and Spike is 200 years and
to heck with cannon, it's my fanfic and I'll write it any way I like. And
I'm eating this banana!'
