Ah but which one? The three main naval bases in and around
Portsmouth are HMS Nelson, HMS Daedelus and HMS Collingwood.
there are other bases but those are the ones which I've spent
time on.

Daedelus is a small Air-Sea-Land Helicopter rescue base which
covers pretty much the entirety of the English channel and the
south of England and Wales.

Nelson is a port base mainly used for the bigger ships (mainly
carriers) and their adjuncts.

Collingwood is an engineering training school, mainly dealing
with weapons systems and ECM. It's also the base I spent most of
my time on.

Of the three Collingwood is the one most likely to host a ball as
it has the best faccilities. They frequently host events both
internal to the Navy and for the public, they also have the best
mess hall I've ever been in (the Royal Navy believe in good food
and lots of it).
