SPOILERS: Surpise, Innocence..
NOTE: This chapter jumps a bit but I want to get Willow/Oz, Buffy/
Angel done with in three or four chapters. So I jump.

" You think he's too old 'cause he's a senior? Please. My boyfriend 
had a bicentennial." 

"That's true." Willow said unsure, "Uh... I guess... I just..."

"You can't spend the rest of your life waiting for Xander to wake up 
and smell the hottie. Make a move. Do the talking thing."

Willow thought about that for a moment. Buffy was right. She 
couldn't wait for Xander to finally see her as something other then 
'one of the guys'. Oz on the other hand saw her as a woman, someone 
he wanted to go out with. At least that's what Willow hoped.

" Well, what if the talking thing becomes the awkward-silence thing?"

"Well, you won't know until you try."

Willow thought about that for a moment. It made sense. And Willow 
really wanted to try. It was time to give up on Xander and try.

"I'm gonna ask you to go out with me tomorrow night. And I'm kinda 
nervous about it, actually. It's interesting." Oz replied after some 
awkward conversation.

" Oh. Well, if it helps at all, I'm gonna say yes." Willow smiled.

It had taken all of her courage to walk up to Oz and now here he was 
asking her out on a date. The funny part was that her wiggen factor 
was low, well as low as it got when she was talking to non-Xander type 
guys.

"Yeah, it helps. It-it creates a comfort zone." Oz paused, "Do you 
wanna go out with me tomorrow night?"

That's when Willow remembered Buffy's party. Buffy was turning 
seventeen. It was a big deal and the group was throwing her a 
surprise party. 

" Oh! I can't."

" Well, see, I like that you're unpredictable" 
" Oh, it's just it's Buffy's birthday, and we're throwing her a 
surprise party."

" It's okay"

" But you could come. If you want to."

" Well, I don't wanna crash."

" No, it's fine! Well, you could be m... my date."

Willow smiled. She had said the 'D' word, and to a boy no less. Not 
just any boy, a cute, smart, musician type guy. And he said yes.

" Yeah. Hey, did everybody see that guy just turn to dust?" Oz asked 
after the party didn't go as planned.

" Uh, well, uh... sort of." Willow said nervously.

" Yep. Vampires are real. A lot of them live in Sunnydale. " Xander 
gestured between Willow and Oz. "Willow will fill you in." 

Willow and Oz watched as Xander walked off.

"I know it's hard to accept at first."

" Actually, it explains a *lot*."

Willow smiled at the memory as she and Oz sat in Oz's van waiting for 
Xander and Cordelia to walk out with a bazooka. It was all very funny 
in a, 'yeah I live on the Hellmouth and steel government weapons' 
kinda way.

" So, do you guys steal weapons from the Army a lot" Oz asked.

" Well, we don't have cable, so we have to make our own fun."

" I get you." 

Willow paused for a moment, " Do you wanna make out with me?" 

" What?"

"Forget it. I'm sorry. Well, do you?"

"Sometimes when I'm sitting in class... You know, I'm not thinking 
about class, 'cause that would never happen. I think about kissing 
you. And it's like everything stops. It's like, it's like freeze 
frame. Willow kissage." Oz paused for a moment, ": Oh, I'm not gonna 
kiss you"

" What? But freeze frame!"

" Well, to the casual observer, it would appear that you're trying to 
make your friend Xander jealous or even the score or something. And 
that's on the empty side. See, in my fantasy when I'm kissing *you*, 
you're kissing *me*. " Oz looked into Willow's eyes, "It's okay. I 
can wait. We're up."

That's the moment Willow realized that she could fall in love with Oz.

It was also the moment all their lives changed. Angelus was back.
