STRANGE PLACES (2/?)
"Spike, I want you to leave town for a little while and don't come back
until Angel comes for you," Willow said to the young drummer just
outside of Kate Lockley's magic shop. The meeting with the Watcher had
not gone very well, the mortal automatically assuming that the souled
vampire would lead the Slayers to her sire and family. It wasn't that
simple... yes Willow has a soul, yes she was disturbed and sickened over
the things she had done at her sire's bidding, yes she wanted to stop
the family from taking over the hellmouth... but leading the two Slayers
into that death trap Ripper tended to call a lair was out of the
question. She may have a tendency to brood over her past crimes and
struggle with her demon side, but she did not have a stake-wish.
Leading a raid on the lair would just be suicide, for the Slayers at
least; she didn't want to think about what her fate would be. She knew
how obsessive her sire could be and of the lengths Delia would go to get
her back.
"Come on Red... I can take care of myself," Spike replied with his
trademark smile, "no vamp is going to get their teeth into me... I'm too
adorable to be a happy meal." He added, his blue eyes shining as he
said the words.
Despite herself, Willow found herself smiling, sometimes Spike's logic
was even worse then Darla's. "Spike if my sire got a hold of you, being
just a happy meal would be the least of your problems," she said with a
defeated sigh, she wasn't stupid she knew Delia had done her homework.
The older vampire knew what mortals were close to her cursed childe and
would use that knowledge to get what she wanted; namely Willow at her
side once more.
"You mean she would turn me," Spike replied, a sinking feeling forming
in his gut as the words set in, the images of meeting his vampire self
he ran into last year racing through his mind. He still had nightmares
of that night, his vampire double murdering two innocent people in front
of him and not being able to do a damn thing about it. Then there was
that other little thing his double had taunted him about, how in his
world Willow was his little pet and how much he enjoyed dominating the
cursed vampire. "No... no - no turning for Spike... been there done
that... hated the bastard. I wore leather pants and drained people...
and... and gottoshagyouintounconsciousnessallthetime. Nope no turning
for Spike... I like my blood right where it is thank you very much... I
can't pull off the 'look at me I'm the great big bad' attitude. I look
terrible in leather pants and a dog collar... really I do. What the
hell was the other me thinking anyway? A long black leather duster I
can see, but running around half naked." He babbled before giving
himself a shake to ward off the unwanted image of his vampire self who
apparently lost all sense of fashion after getting turned. "You'd think
I'd have enough sense to get turned by a vamp with some kind of style...
but no he had to pick a 'Mad Max' refugee for a sire."
"Don't worry... Delia is more into expensive suits then leather," Willow
assured him as the two walked away from the magic shop. "She may even
make you dye your hair back to normal."
"Expensive suits!" the young man groaned making a cross with his two
index fingers and holding them up to the vampire, "back... back I say...
that is evil and mean and just evil! I look terrible in those things...
makes me look just like that wanker sperm donor of mine." He said with
a shudder sure he really was going to have nightmares that night.
"Don't worry Spike... if anyone is going to turn you it will be me...
and I like you in old denim jeans," the vampire replied without
thinking, her demon moving forward a bit straining against the chains
that imprisoned it. 'He's mine!' the demon fumed, having already
claimed the boy for herself. 'Mine to turn and mold as I see fit.'
"Really? You would?" Spike said, feeling unbelievably pleased about
learning that one of the deadliest vampires in history wanted to turn
him. Then something occurred to him, "you're not planning on doing that
now are you? Because I was thinking about actually getting out and
working on my tan sometime soon."
Shaking her head at her young friend's antics as they walked back to the
vampire's flat, Willow turned her attention to the matter of her sire
and the rest of the family's presence in Sunnydale. They were up to
something, she could feel it in her bones, and that usually meant
nothing but trouble for a lot of innocent humans. If she couldn't get
Spike to leave town willingly she would just have to find another way to
keep him save... even from herself if she should lose her soul.
**************************
Outside her flat, Willow stiffened for the second time that night, her
vampire sense once again picking up her sire's presence. "Spike get
your stake and water gun ready," she said in a low emotionless voice, as
she pushed open her front door. 'Trust Delia to get a key made and not
have the door jimmied,' she thought ruefully, remembering how her sire
loathed brute force, preferring to make a grand entrance whenever
possible, even when she was essentially breaking and entering.
Stepping inside the dingy little flat, the souled vampire found that her
sire had indeed made herself right at home, "I don't remember inviting
you in," the little redhead growled, annoyed that her personal space had
been invaded.
"You were off playing the Watcher lapdog when we arrived, so we let
ourselves in... you would have preferred we lurked in the corridor and
snacked on your neighbours?" Delia questioned, seeing the fire in her
wayward childe's eyes she had so missed. "And who might this be?"
"What do you want Delia?" Willow growled, noting Faith coming out of
the kitchen area with a goblet of blood and three glasses. 'They just
made themselves right at home didn't they?' she silently fumed, even as
her demon continued to hum in pleasure. Her sire and one of her former
lovers in the same room with her once again, even took the trouble of
breaking into her home to see her, what more could a vampire want?
"Tsk... such manners... I taught you better then that," Delia admonished
as Faith set down the goblet and glasses. "Faith be a dear and bring
something for Willow's young friend... I don't think he would like the
taste of blood... just yet."
"Leave him alone!" Willow growled, her eyes flashing yellow/gold, she
didn't like that way her sire was looking at Spike not one little bit.
"He is not a part of this."
"But he is... he is one of the Slayers' little helpers, he is known in
the demon community as packing stakes and holy water at all times, he is
very much apart of this," Delia corrected the younger vampire, shifting
a bit more comfortably in her chair. "The ONLY reason he is here now is
his connection to you... I harm him and I will alienate you even more...
so for the time being he and the other boy... the tall quiet one... are
off limits. At least until you return to my side... the protection will
remain but I have this feeling it will be most unnecessary... I'm pretty
sure you will be claiming the two as your first childer," she added with
a purr, "and what lovely childer they will make."
For his part, Spike gripped his stake more securely, trying to control
his fear knowing full well that the vampires in the small flat would
smell his terror. 'Okay... I'm standing here being talked about like a
piece of furniture and being told my safety is basically up to Red
keeping her soul intact... because I 'so' do NOT want to be a vampire.
Why am I not wigging out more?' he thought to himself watching the other
vampire reenter the room carrying a glass of ice and one of the sodas
Willow kept for the gang when one of them would stop by. 'It's official
Spike me boy... you are ready for rubber room city and eating jello five
times a day.'
"Oh... he's cute... and those eyes," Faith purred holding out the glass
and soda can. "When you turn him... can I play with him? Just a little
bit... show him how to do that tongue thing you like so much?" she asked
regarding her old lover eagerly. "Bet he'll be ever so much fun in
bed... lot better then any of mum's little toys.... even Graham and he's
had a century of practice. But you're Spike... he'll be better then all
of them... well except for my Darla. Sorry Spikey... but my Darla-pet
is going to out shag you."
"Oh... okaaay," Spike said uncertainly eyeing the vampire cautiously,
sticking his stake back into its hiding place, but keeping his water gun
at the ready... just in case. 'Yup Spike me boy you have finally gone
off the deep end. Wonder how Darla is going to react to the news that a
vampire has plans for her?'
"Oh come sit down... it's a day of celebration, we are together once
again," Delia said with a roll of her eyes. "Really... if we wanted to
start something we would have jumped you at the door."
Waiting for Willow's signal, Spike took the offered glass of ice, his
other hand firmly on his water gun, trying to remember everything he had
ever read about Willow's sire. His instinct screaming to get out of the
flat as fast as he could and get help, because there was no way in hell
this was anywhere near a friendly visit. Within moments the souled
vampire and bleached blonde drummer found themselves sitting on Willow's
couch, the two carefully eyeing the vampires.
"Why are you here?" Willow demanded, opening the soda for Spike and
pouring him a drink. While she really didn't like the young mortal
anywhere near her sire, or Faith for that matter, Delia did claim he was
off limits for the moment so he was relatively safe. Her sire was a lot
of things; but a liar wasn't one of them.
"I told you... I am here for you and your future childer. Ripper on the
other hand is here for the hellmouth; he wants the power and prestige
that comes with being the Master of Sunnydale. Beth... well she is here
to shag every human and minion that strikes her fancy but what else is
new? And dear Faith here... wants to turn that blonde Slayer and bath
in Watcher blood," Delia replied honestly, taking a moment to enjoy how
pale the drummer had become at her words.
"She'll make a beautiful childe... you'll see Delia... her and Spike
here can learn together, just like me and Willow did," the insane
vampire said helpfully, pouring the blood into the glasses.
"Should I be concerned that I am being talked about like this? Because
I'm pretty sure I should be appalled right about now... leather pants
and a dog collar... I 'so' do not want to be wearing that for the rest
of eternity," Spike said looking at Willow with wide eyes, before taking
a nervous drink, one foot tapping the floor in a rhythm-less beat.
"My dear boy... if you expect to live under my roof you most certainly
WILL be wearing more then that... I don't care what you and Willow do in
you're private rooms but everywhere else you will be dressed properly,"
Delia assured him, with an arched eyebrow, wondering why he was so
convinced he would be allowed to run around like that.
"You seem so certain that I'm going to turn him," Willow noted, not
liking her sire's smug attitude one little bit, she most defiantly was
up to something. "Its not going to happen Delia not now... not ever!"
she growled ready to call an end to this little celebration here and
now, her sire was growing too fond of the thought of Spike as a
grandchilde. 'Best get these two out of here fast, before they get any
funny ideas,' she decided taking a swallow of the blood Faith had
poured, realizing too late that neither vampire had touched their drinks
yet. "What did you do?" she demanded standing suddenly immediately
feeling dizzy as she did, her game face slipping on in instinct.
Beside her, Spike tried to stand, ready to defend himself and his
friend, only to be backhanded by Faith, even as Willow's whole world
tilted on its axis and she plunged into darkness.
"What has to be done my darling childe... you are going to be back at my
side one way or another," she whispered, before leaning down to hoist
her unconscious vampire over her shoulder. "Bring the boy too Faith...
wouldn't want him getting any ideas about warning the Slayers just yet."
She said, already walking out of the flat, an evil light glowing in her
eyes. 'Soon, soon baby you will be back to normal and at my side once
again,' she told herself as she disappeared into the night.
End Part Two.
