Dragon Dating

"Buffy you don't always have to walk me home." Cordelia stated though she
was honestly glad of Buffy's company.

"I know, besides I really need to check on Kelm. Her aunt worries me. I just
hope they took her to the doctor. She is really ill." Buffy said sadly. She
liked Kelm but there were just some things in the world she couldn't
control.

"Yeah her family is pretty cringe worthy. Plus her aunt yells at her a lot.
Only she yells in Russian so nobody knows what she is saying. Still I don't
want to change families." Cordelia said as they continued to walk home.

"I know, her aunt sets off my spider sense every time. I think she is a
psychic."

"That would explain the people going in and out of her house to have their
palms read." Cordelia replied.

"Are you serious, about the fortune telling?" Buffy said grabbing Cordelia's
arm and stopping her in her tracks.

"I thought you knew. That is how her aunt makes a living. She is really
good. My moms friends, well her friends before we became poor, all raved
about her." Cordelia replied.

"So she is a psychic. I guess I am a dyke." Buffy said lost in her internal
thoughts. Cordelia finally realized why the news about Kelm's aunt was so
important to Buffy.

"Buffy, you are who you are. Don't sweat the little stuff."

"It doesn't matter. At least I know why my radar goes off every time I get
near the woman." She replied.

They walked along quietly for a while then Cordelia reached out and touched
Buffy's arm. "I have a stupid question. What does your spider sense do
around Angel?"

"With Angel it is different. They go off but not like they do with normal
vampires. It's kind of like how they go off with Kelm's aunt. I can sense
that they both have souls, I just sense that they are also magical. That is
why I didn't know Angel was a vampire right away. My senses tingled but they
didn't scream duck. They are like that with Kelly too. Only different."
Buffy said the last part with a smile and a faraway expression that screamed
schoolgirl in love.

"Oh brother." Cordelia said out loud. As she began to realize that Buffy was
lost and they were all in trouble.

"What?" Buffy said looking at her friend.

"Nothing, does anyone else give you the buzz?"

"Oz but only around the full moon. And Willow a little after she has been
casting spells. Amy too but with witches it is just a small little buzz.
It's really more of a vague thing. Giles is always nagging me about honing
my gift. How I need to be able to sense vamps in a crowd thing. It's not
that easy, especially on the Hellmouth. The whole city buzzes so it is
really hard to pick out one buzz from another, kind of like static." Buffy
said thinking about it for the first time.

"That makes sense." Cordelia said wondering at her own sanity as she said
it. She had always wondered why Buffy hadn't picked up on Angel right away.
She had seen Buffy stop them hundreds of times when she sensed a big bad
near by but Buffy had not even realized Angel was a vampire for months after
they met.

"So Kelly gives you a buzz but a good Angel like buzz not a hey I am evil
buzz?" Cordelia asked to clarify.

"Oh yeah, a good buzz. Plus she has a soul." Buffy said happy to be talking
about her crush. Cordelia just looked at her friend's face and smiled. Why
fight it, was her only thought.

(((((((((((((((((((***********))))))))))))))

"But it hurts." Kelm cried to her aunt.

"Yes but it will make you better. So roll up your sleeve and give her your
arm." Anna McVey said to her niece.

"Kelm did as she was told and rolled up her sleeve. The other women in the
room laid out her arm and then quickly inserted the needle. Within a few
moments blood was filling the bag. Kelm started to feel faint and was
quickly slapped by her aunt. "You can sleep when we take you home."

The bag was filled and Kelm was given a large glass of orange juice. On her
queezey stomach it would not go down easily. "No thank you." Kelm said
weekly hoping she would not have to drink the fluid.

"Fine you can just take the medicine." Her aunt replied handing the other
woman back the juice.

The woman shrugged and set the juice aside. Then she opened the
refrigerator. She took out a jar of blue liquid and poured it into a glass.
She returned and handed the girl the glass. Kelm closed her eyes and drank
the liquid. It tasted terrible but she knew she would have to drink it all.
Seconds after she drank the substance her skin began to glow and her eyes
began to change color. Seconds later her eyes too were glowing a deep blue
in blue glow that matched her skin. Her body began to shake a little and
then just as quickly it passed. Her eyes and skin returned to normal.

"Feel better." Her aunt asked.

"Yes Aunt Anna. Can I go home now and sleep?" Kelm asked just above a
whisper.

"In a minute, now go wait for me in the car."

After Kelm had left her aunt turned to the other woman in the room and said,
"You will want my blood as well to feed your demon I suppose."

"Sit down in the chair. Besides it is the least you can do. I did cure the
girl." The woman said rudely.

"Your demon cured the girl. And has now left its mark on her. She lusts
after women. When I picked her up at school today she was in the hands of
another girl. A sinful girl, I had a vision about her. They were both
lusting in that way, lusting after women. This is your doing." Anna McVey
ranted.

"I forgot how moral you can be at times Anna. Funny coming from someone who
two years ago begged me to feed her niece the blood of a demon. Do you think
your precious niece would drink her medicine if she knew it was dragon's
blood?" The woman laughed.

"We have a deal and I will honor it Mrs. Williams. My people will feed your
demon our blood and you will continue to cure my niece. It is more than
fair. You are supplied with fifteen pints of blood a week and you feed Kelm
two pints of blood a week. That is the deal."

"I don't know if you have noticed but she is drinking more than two pints of
blood a week. She is up to almost three. I will want more blood from your
people. Another five pints. It's not like you haven't got it to spare." The
teacher said.

"Fine I will make the arrangements."

(((((((((((*************))))))))))))))))

Kelly was bouncing off the walls with happiness. Her meeting with Buffy had
gone well. Actually the business part was just ok, but the part where Buffy
agreed to meet her for dinner was awesome. She still didn't know whether it
was an actual date or not, but as long as they were together she didn't
care.

Smiling Kelly began going through her closet again looking for something to
wear.

(((((((((********))))))))))

Buffy put down Cordelias' phone. Her mother had not been happy that she was
not eating at home but she excepted the excuses of slayer business. Buffy
just hoped she was lying about that part. Somehow she wanted it to be a
normal dinner with a friend or possibly more than a friend. She just hoped
her friend was feeling something similar.

"So you are really going to do this, meet her for diner?" Cordelia said
knowing the answer.

"Yes, why?"

"Then I am coming along. You and demons should not be left in the same room
unguarded."

"Cordelia are you nuts."

"No which is why I am going. Besides my mom isn't going to be home from work
for a few hours. I hate to eat alone." Cordelia said batting her eyes the
way she did to guys at school.

"Ok" Buffy said defeated.

"I think I like you being gay. It gives me added weapons." Cordelia said
smugly.

"Great, it's bad enough I have to put up with Faith. Now I am going to have
to fight you off as well?" Buffy said laughing.

"You are so not my type. I might flirt but you will just have to learn to
cope." Cordelia answered laughing as well.

((((((((((((*******)))))))

Kelly got to the restaurant about a half an hour early. She checked her
reflection in the window and wondered if going back to basic black was
really a good idea. Only she did look really good in the black silk shirt
and leather pants. The blue scarf was a nice color touch she thought, hoping
Buffy would like it.

"I am losing it." She finally said to her reflection.

"Depends if you ever had it?" Angel said from behind her.

Kelly was already reaching for her knife in her boot. She had pulled it out
before she realized who it was standing behind her.

"I didn't feel you approach." She said honestly, though she just slipped the
knife into the back of her pants where she could reach it quickly.

"Rupert said you were meeting Buffy for diner." He said frankly.

"Yes, we are supposed to meet at 6." She said surprised.

"She will be late. Buffy is always late for a date. I think it's a teenage
girl thing. You are on a date right?" Angel said evenly.

"I don't know?" Kelly said throwing up her arms. She had no reason to lie.
She had fallen for the girl almost at first sight but she still didn't know
what the slayer felt. They hadn't talked about it at all. She had just
suggested dinner. She really needed to think things through and now she was
going to have to deal with the girls' jealous boyfriend. 'Boyfriend'. Why
the hell can't I remember she has a boyfriend, Kelly thought to herself.
Wondering when exactly she had lost her mind.

Angel just smiled at the demon's reaction. He had expected the woman to lie
to him. He hadn't expected the truth. "She is seventeen years old," The
vampire said flatly studying the woman.

"I know, but I am only two years older. If I were a guy it wouldn't be that
much of a big deal."

"If you were a human it wouldn't be that much of a big deal." Angel
corrected.

"You're right. Our kind shouldn't mix with you're kind. No wait, you're a
vampire; her kind should not mix with your kind... or my kind. What am I
taking about, she is dating you. Why is she dating you? That can't be good
for her. Besides your soul isn't on that tight. No offence but you could
still lose it. I mean how does that happen, a vampire gets a soul, besides
your like tall dark mystery guy, girls have got to love that, of coarse
you're her boyfriend. What was I thinking, this can't be like a date to her.
It's got to be like a business meeting. She may take all her demons to
dinner and talk over terms and business stuff. The ones she doesn't kill.
God I am so stupid, I should have just worn the red pantsuit. It goes with
every occasion." Kelly said lost in babble.

"Do you always talk to yourself like that?" Buffy asked from the sidewalk.

"Hi Buffy!" Kelly said her whole body language changed the minute she saw
Buffy. Sparks were evident and only a fool would have missed the love
pouring from her.

"Oh Brother." Cordelia said then added, "Hi Angel."

"Oh, I asked Cordy to come to dinner with us. I hope that's ok. Hi Angel I
should ask what you're doing here but think I have a clue." Buffy said
crossing her arms and giving Angel her I am pissed at you look.

"Fine then we will all go to diner together." Angel announced opening up the
door of Mr. Wong's Chinese restaurant.

"Fine, if you want to tag along on my date that's fine with me." Buffy
replied grabbing Kelly's arm and pulling her inside.

"Oh brother." Cordelia said following them into the restaurant.

"Did you say date?" Kelly whispered with a great deal of hope.

"If that is ok with you." Buffy whispered back.

"It's ok, It's more than ok. I think I love you." She babbled out.

"I think we should get through diner before we come to any conclusions."
Buffy laughed but she pulled Kelly closer.

Dinner was an event in and of itself. Kelly and Buffy kept staring at each
other unable to talk. Young love in their eyes. Angel drank tea and scowled.
It made his brooding look polite, almost angelic in comparison. Cordelia
felt the need to cover the strange situation so she began holding court and
giving a complete fashion review of everyone she had ever met in her life.
Somewhere in the middle of it all Harmony and her family came in.

Cordelia then completely freaked out. From that point on, Angel became her
boyfriend that she kept pointing out to Harmony. Angel just brooded and
scowled and came to the conclusion he would never understand teenage girls.
But he also played along with Cordelia. From the few talks he had with Buffy
he understood what a hard time the girl was having with her life. She seemed
to need the illusion of what she felt other people thought as signs of
successes. From the way Buffy was playing along, when she wasn't staring at
the dragon with long meaningful glances, he knew that Buffy felt it was
important. Mostly the vampire wanted to crawl under a rock. This hurt more
than hell. He knew he would loose her he just didn't think it would be so
soon.

Still as much as he wanted to torture the dragon with a chain saw he also
liked her. She babbled like Willow but in general she seemed honest. So as
badly as he wanted to kill her he also liked her. That was its own kind of
hell. Well at least his soul wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.

((((((((((((((((************))))))))))))))

The dragon pulled against her chains. She was hungry. The blood of the witch
and the girl was good and fresh but only left her thirsty for more food. She
could feel her scales growing and it hurt a lot. She pulled the chains hard
again hoping she could get loose to go hunt. It always burned until she
could go hunting. She then howled and started pulling at the chains again.

Mr. Williams opened the door and picked up the whip by the door. He snapped
the whip across her back several times. "Shut up." He shouted before
slamming the door.

Walking back up the stairs he entered the kitchen. "Honey she will not shut
up. Can we cut her tongue out or muzzle her or something. She is driving me
crazy. You don't know how lucky you are. You don't have to stay here with
her all day." He whined.

"Yeah, I am real lucky. I have to spend the day with a bunch of retarded
pricks. And I won't even tell you what I think of the students."

"About your students, are you going to offer to heal anymore of them. It's
been two years. It doesn't have to be like the last school. Or if you don't
want to charge to heal your student maybe we can find other clients. The
gold, I can only sell it a little at a time. It raises too many questions
otherwise. But the cure is easier to keep quiet." Mark Williams told his
wife.

"None of my students parents have enough money to even bother with. If I
didn't need that gypsy bitches help getting blood I wouldn't bother with her
niece. I hate that kid. No, we stick to getting people off the Internet."
Leah William's was interrupted by yet another howl. "Christ Mark! You will
have to take her hunting again tonight."

"Where? That slayer person is always in the cemetery?"

"By the docks, she should be able to find something to munch on. I am not
listening to her howl all night."

"Fine I will take her out. But you have to help me harvest her scales
tomorrow."

"I will need more of her blood as well. That stupid kid is getting sicker
and needs more cure. If I didn't need that stupid clans help I would kill
the girl myself."

"Where would we get fresh blood or someone to sell the gold for us? It was a
lucky thing the clans' queen was born blind and really sick. That was a
stroke of real luck." Mark said smiling.

"What luck. Do you have any idea what dragon's blood will do to a pregnant
woman. Especially when the blood is from an infant." Leah laughed.

"You mean you made the girl sick." Mark said a little shocked.

"Of coarse I don't take chances. I knew the blood would cause defects in the
girl. Her mothers death in childbirth was an unforeseen side effect but one
for the best. Anna is much easier to manipulate. You should have heard her
going on today. Practically a religious rant on her niece lusting after
women. I never thought I would be glad the weasel Snyder stuck me with that
Summers Girl. Apparently Anna had a vision the summer's girl is gay and is
converting her niece or some other nonsense. I love these overly religious
fools, it makes them so much easier to control." Leah said laughing
maniacally.

((((((((((((((((((**************)))))))))))))))))))

Rupert Giles put down the phone. He was fighting off the urge to tear it off
the wall. He wanted to just let the Ripper inside him lose and destroy his
apartment. He wanted to scream and rant and rave about the world. Instead he
made himself some hot tea, Earl Grey. Then he sat down in his kitchen and
cried.

Buffy was turning eighteen in a few weeks. He had tried every avenue he
could think of to get her out of the coming trail. All of them had failed.
So in the end he had excepted the roll of betrayer. It was too important to
risk letting someone else take over the roll. The might give her too much of
the compound and hurt her in the processes. He would trust no one but
himself with the job. And he hated himself for it.
