I love the description of the base! Reminds me somewhat of my
aunts place in the Blue Mountains (in Springwood, about 40 odd Ks
outside of Sydney). They're in the mountains so no roos but they
get a lot of reptiles on their deck so each morning she has to go
out with a broom and herd the smallers ones off, anything too big
(or poisonous looking) gets left and they just don't use that bit
of the deck that day. Apparently the trees around are absolutely
full of Kookaburros (sp?), which have a habit of being noisey
bastards all night and getting pissed on fermented berries any
opportunity they get[1].
