SPOILERS: Doplegangland - Gotta love Vampire Willow.
Author's Note: Sorry about the wait for this installment- RL and a
short attention span can be hell.
Willow laid on the grass and talked to Buffy. She loved these times,
when it was just the two of them. No demon to kill, no apocalypse to
avert, no world to save. Just Buffy and Willow talking.
"The Watcher Council shrink is heavy into tests. He's got tests for
everything. T.A.T.s, Rorschach, associative logic... " Buffy grunted
and sat up, "He even has that test to see if you're crazy that asks if
you ever hear voices or you ever wanted to be a florist."
Willow looked over at Buffy" Ooo, I used to want... " Willow paused
for a moment, "Wait. Florist means crazy, right? " Willow turned to
her pencil which begins to spin "I never wanted to do that. "
Buffy began some stretching exercises and then turned to look at the
spinning pencil, "Neat."
"Thanks. It's all about emotional control. Plus, obviously, magic."
Willow smiled giddily, "Hey, you wanna go to the Espresso Pump and get
sugared up on mochas? "
"I'm gonna pass. Hit the pool and do some laps. "
"How come the sudden calisthenics? Aren't you sort of naturally buff,
Buff?" Willow smiled at her own joke, " Buff buff."
"Well, they've got us running around on the physical side, too. A lot
of reflex evaluation and precision training, you know. I-I just...
Well, I-I wanna do... "
Willow smiled knowingly "Better than Faith?"
"So very shallow." Buffy said embarrassed.
Willow sat up, "Competition is natural and healthy. Plus, you'll
definitely ace her on the psych tests. Just don't mark the box that
says, 'I sometimes like to kill people.' "
"I know Faith's not gonna be on the cover of Sanity Fair, but... she
had it rough. Different circumstances, that could be me. "
"No way. Some people just don't have that in them. "
"Look, I'm sorry. I-I know how you hate talking about Faith. "
"No, it's okay."
"No, really, we should just... " Buffy glanced at the pencil which
was spinning out of control.
"No. I-it doesn't bother me. I mean it. "
" Uh, Will?"
"Oh." Willow said noticing the pencil
An instant later it darted off and buried itself deeply into a tree.
Willow gave Buffy a concerned look.
" Emotional control?"
" I'm working on it."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------
Willow really couldn't believe her luck. Of all the people Snyder
asked, no ordered, her to tutor it had to be Percy. Just because he
was some dumb jock. And to make matters worse she had to do all his
work as well as her own. It just wasn't fair.
Oz had called her boring and then Buffy had called her reliable. That
was not what she needed to hear. Just once she wanted to be known as
something other then old reliable Willow. The girl you went to when
you were having trouble with your homework. Just once she wanted to
be the party girl. Just once she wanted to raise a little Hell.
That's why she had agreed to help Anya with the spell to get her
amulet back. But the spell failed and she was completely bummed out,
as well as mad at Buffy, Oz, and Xander.
She was still kinda mad when she walked into the library later that
afternoon. What she saw confused the hell out of her. Buffy, Giles,
and Xander were sitting on the steps of the library in a state that
could only be defined as shock.
"What's going on?" Willow asked confused.
They all looked up surprised and then Xander lifted a cross in his
defense. Willow looks on at their surprised faces.
"Jeeze, who died?" Willow looked at their faces and realized she
might have gotten it right, " Oh, God! Who died?"
Xander jumped up and put the cross directly in Willow's face, " Back!
Get back, demon!"
Willow didn't cower from the cross; instead she looked on more panic
stricken then ever. And then she began to think that Xander had gone
completely crazy. After a few moments Xander began to shake his cross
like it was broken. Willow noticed the confused looks on all their
faces.
" Willow, you're alive," Buffy asked.
" Aren't I usually?" Willow asked puzzled.
Without any further hesitation, Buffy ran the two steps to her best
friend and hugged her hard and close. Willow was surprised, and let
out a little groan from the tightness of the embrace. An instant later
Xander was also hugging her for all he was worth. The hug went on for
a long moment before it got too intense for Willow.
" Okay. Oxygen becoming an issue" Willow said trying to breathe.
Both Buffy and Xander let go smiling and with tears in their eyes.
Willow smiled back but still didn't understand what all the fuss was
about.
"Giles, what's going on with these... " Before she could finished
Giles embarrassed her. "Oh!" Again she groaned from the tightness
of the hug.
Giles quickly released her a little embarrassed by his emotional
display, "Oh. Sorry."
"Its really nice you guys missed me." Willow paused, "Say, you all
didn't happen to do a bunch of drugs, did ya?"
"Will, we saw you at the Bronze." Xander began, "A vampire."
"I'm not a vampire." Willow said insulted.
"You are." Buffy paused, "I-I mean, you, you were." Buffy paused
again, "Giles, planning on jumping in with an explanation any time
soon?"
"Well, uh... something... something, um, very strange is happening. "
Giles said unsure.
"Can you believe the Watcher's Council let this guy go?" Xander
smiled.
The next thing Willow knew Angel was crashing into the library telling
everyone that she was dead. Then he noticed her standing thier.
Xander told him that they were all rather confused by the citation.
After awhile they decided on a plan to stop the other Willow. Willow
went back to the library to collect a few things and ran smack into
the face of herself. It wasn't a good feeling mind you. The other
Willow was.....scary.
"Is that me as a vampire?" Willow asked horrified when the other came
back to rescue her, "I'm so evil and... skanky." She turned to Buffy
worried, " And I think I'm kinda gay."
Buffy tried to convince her that there was nothing to it. A vampire
was nothing like the human it was once was. Willow had heard what
Angel had said. She just didn't say she had heard it. At the time
she had thought nothing of it.
Later however she would wonder about that moment.
Because that moment started a change in her that would take her
somewhere she had never thought of going.
