Hi all! I was just sitting here when I finally got an idea I really liked. I?ve been looking for this song for almost two weeks now and I finally found it. I hope you like it.

Taking The Chance

Disclaimers: Do Buffy and company belong to me? Not in a million years. Buffy, Willow and all other?s belonging in the Buffyverse belong to Joss and his associates at Mutant Enemy. I just got a little boredand they agreed to come out and play with me.

Music is not mine either. "I?d Love You To Want Me" belongs to Lobo. It?s a pretty old song, 71-73 I believe is when it came out. I hope you like it.

Rated: PG. There was really nothing else I could do with this song. Anything stronger would?ve been too strong of a rating. Be warned, there is no sex or violence in this story but it does deal with two very beautiful women in love. If this is not what you?re looking for then why the heck would you be on this list?

Author?s Note: I?ve been reading e-mails asking and talking about just a love story for our two wonderful ladies. So here?s my shot. Lately all that I?ve managed is angst. Hopefully this works out. I didn?t put this into any specific timeline but it should fit somewhere during the college seasons. And on a final note, I don?t believe in the boring curse that is Riley so he won?t be showing up anywhere in this piece.

This hasn't been beta read, I hope it's not that bad.



Taking The Chance

"I know it?s in here," said a frustrated Willow as she searched through her parents boxes. She was looking for a CD, no a record, yes she was looking for a record. It was old but she knew she had heard her parents play it before. The kicker was, she only wanted one song off the record.

"Please, let one of these be it," she continued as she pulled out a pile of her parents old disks. She had found the box with the music, now to find the song. Heading towards the living room she looked at the clock on the wall, "Dang, she?s almost here." Quickly she turned on her dad?s old stereo and began the dreaded process of searching for her song.

It was about fifteen until seven, the sun would be down soon. She had already gone through more than ten records without any luck. She was down to her last two and was losing hope. "Please let it be on here," she said finally down to her last disc.

"Lobo, sounds old to me," she said starting the recorded. As she searched through the record the song finally came. A small smile spread across her face as the doorbell rang. "Got it," she said as she stopped the record.

"Buffy."

"Hey Will, you told me to come over before patrol. What?s up?"

Looking at the blonde the red head smiled again. "We need to talk," she said taking the blonde by the hand and leading her to the living room.

"Yeah, I figured you say that."

"You did?"

"Yeah, so I told Giles to call Xander and cover tonight."

"You shouldn?t ha..."

"I wanted to. I kind of need to talk to you too."

"Great," said Willow as they entered the living room.

"Oh my God, Will, what happened here? Did someone break in?" asked Buffy, smiling, after observing the upside down living room.

"Ha, ha. Very funny slayer," said the red head as her friend through her a mischievous smile. "I was looking for something in my parents boxes."

"Well, for all this mess I hope you found it."

"Ha. Funny again. And yes I did find it."

"Come on Will, you know I?m just messing with you."

"Yeah I know. Help me get these back upstairs, yeah?"

"Lead the way," said Buffy as she followed Willow putting away the various discs.

"Hey, these are pretty old records, did you really find what you wanted?" asked the blonde as she handed Willow the rest of the records she was holding.

"Yes, it?s downstairs. Come on."

"Ok Will. Now can we talk?"

"Yeah, let?s do that."

"So what?s up?" asked Buffy again.

Heading towards the stereo Willow motioned Buffy to have a seat. "I?ve wanted to tell you for so long. I just never had the guts. Now that we?ve bunked together in school...I know that I have no choice but to do this."

"Willow, what are you talking about?" asked a somewhat worried Buffy.

The red head smiled at her friend before she continued. "When Oz left I was hurt, but only for a little while. Now, I look back and know that it was the best thing that could?ve happened to me. He knew what he was doing when he left. He just wanted me to be happy."

"No Will," Buffy said getting up, "when he left he was wrong. He hurt you. You should never be hurt. Not by him, not by anyone."

"Don?t you understand Buffy? That?s why he left. Now, now Tara has helped me understand a few things, things about myself."

"Ok, I?m not sure I?m getting you."

"It?s complicated."

"Why complicated?"

A long paused filled the room before Buffy asked again, "Why is it complicated Will?"

Smiling at her friend it took her another moment before she could speak. "It?s funny. I knew that you?d ask me that. So, since I told you to come over I?ve been thinking of how to answer that question."

"Any luck?" asked Buffy trying to lighten the now tense mood.

"Actually, yes. The song, this song I?ve been looking for...it kind of explains it all."

"So let?s here it," said Buffy, still tense but taking her seat.

"I was hoping you?d say that," said Willow as she set the record.

Silence again filled the room as the music began.

"The song, it kind of says what I?m feeling. How I?ve felt for some time now."


- When I saw you standin' there 
I about fell outta my chair 
And when you moved your mouth to speak
I felt the blood go to my feet 


"Would you like to dance?" asked a hesitant Willow as she walked over to Buffy and extended her hand.

Buffy, not knowing what to do took the offered hand and began to dance. The music was slow and captivating. If they were surrounded by an army of vampires Buffy wouldn?t have known the difference. She was caught in Willow?s warm eyes, and she was showing no signs of wanting to escape.

"Hopefully I?m right about things. I think you feel it too," whispered Willow.

"What are you ta...?"

"Just listen to the song."


- Now it took time for me to know 
What you tried so not to show

"I don?t have blue ey..." began Buffy before Willow covered her mouth with her own.

"Wow," said Buffy in her state of shock.

"I love you Buffy."

"I...I do too," said the blonde leaning into the red head.

Their foreheads touching they continued their slow movements.

For the title that they gave


Listening to the words Buffy?s eyes began to shine with unshed tears. "I love you so much," she said claiming the red head?s mouth this time.

Oxygen becoming an issue the girls had to separate once again. Looking into the eyes of the one they loved both of them smiled. As they moved to the music Willow thanked whatever gods were listening, for bringing Buffy into her life. And she thanked them for letting Buffy feel the same way about her. Buffy just smiled at the red head. She had wanted her for so long, even before Angel, now that she had her in her arms she didn?t plan on letting go.

"Whatcha thinking about?" asked Willow seeing a new smile covering Buffy?s features. She had seen the blonde smile before, many times, but she had never seen her like this.

"Just about you. It was brave...what you did. I could?ve said no."

"It was a chance I had to take. Even if you didn?t love me, I had to tell you how much I loved you. I just had to."

"I?m happy you did Will. I?m so happy you did," she said giving the red head another small kiss.

"Besides," Willow said smiling at the blonde, "it looked good in the movie, so I figured what the heck."

"Wha..." began Buffy as Willow simply smiled and claimed the slayer?s mouth while the song continued.

So there it is. What did anyone think. Mainly I was trying to write something short and to the point. Plus, add in the fact that I've been watching lesbian movies all week, and this is what you get. I hope you like it. Laters all.
