Chapter One: Story Telling

slayers help and starting a prophecy that may lead to the end of days.

Story Telling

The gang were all there sitting at the dinning room table. Boxes of pizza 
were open around the table. Joyce looked at her daughter impatient for an 
explanation for why she now had a vampire in the basement chained to the 
staircase.

?Her name is Usha Nicole Jacarr.? Buffy said breaking the silence. ?Here 
Will, you can do the research thing later.? Buffy handed Willow a note with 
the girl?s name and address on it.

?Her parents live in town, her mother reads fortunes. Mostly she just makes 
stuff up, but she is a real seer. I think Nikki is 17 years old. At least 
that is how old she was when she died two nights ago. She also is a member, 
along with her parents, of a gypsy clan that was cursed.? Buffy then did a 
quick check of the room to make sure everyone was on the same page following 
her before she continued. It was a dangerous time for all of them.

?Nikki rose as a vampire with a soul. She is still a kid, and she hasn?t 
killed anyone other than her sire. She killed her sire just as she was 
dying. It was part of the curse and a prophecy all in one thing. To keep 
herself she had to kill her sire at the moment she was both dying and being 
made undead. I can?t really explain it.?

Giles with a seriously worried face on, asked, ?Where did you read this??

?I never said I read it, Giles. It came to me in my dreams. It always comes 
to us in our dreams. The journals must talk about it. I know it has happened 
before.? Buffy said with her eyes still closed reliving the dreams.

?What has happened for before?? Riley asked only he was looking at Giles.

?I don?t know if Buffy is right yet, Buffy please finish telling us what you 
know about the vampire.? Giles said carefully praying for another 
explanation to what he suspected had now happened.

?The prophecy says she has to come to me for help. To the slayer. The 
first few months she will have trouble controlling the demon inside. I have 
to take care of her, help her. She and I have a shared fate. I have seen it 
in my dreams.? Buffy said all of this distantly. Reliving her visions of the 
present and future. They were merging into one and the same in her mind. In 
a way she was having a hard time focusing on what she saw in her mind and 
what she saw with her eyes. The voices in her head where shouting dreams 
across the expanse of time in her head.

?Giles, tell them the truth, I will live only as long as she does. From the 
minute she rose, our fates became a single thread, wrapped together.? Buffy 
suddenly stated staring at Giles wildly.

?Giles is that true.? Willow asked.

?I don?t know, I ?I..I have to check my books and?and the dreams could just 
be images of the past. There are so many?? Giles was cut off by Tara.

?Yes it is true.? The blond witch stated, ?Giles tell them the truth.?

?But I don?t know? Giles said embarrassed. Even now all his soul screamed to 
stop being a watcher, but the one time librarian could not give up the 
principles of the watchers.

?Tara what do you know about it?? Riley asked deciding that nothing any of 
them said made any sense but Tara seemed to be more together than Giles. The 
poor man looked like he was ready to self implode.

?It?s a gypsy folk story mostly. Only? ? Tara stopped for a moment trying to 
find the best way to explain.

"It is kind of a long story. Way back when, and I really do not know how 
long ago, there was a slayer. Only she was different from the slayers before 
her. I really don?t know what the different part was, everybody I ever heard 
tell the story tells the story different. Sometimes she is a he; other 
times she is evil. It all depends on who is telling the story.? The witch 
continued as her friends looked on with very confused facial expressions.

"Ok, so that is not important. Slayers, in those days worked with witches. 
It was long before the counsel started burning them at the stake. Anyway the 
witch was married to a rich king who let the slayer use his army. And the 
warriors of light started winning. Then the slayer does this whole Romeo and 
Juliet thing with the son or daughter of the witch and king. Sorry, my 
family all have different versions.? Tara nervously continued.

"Anyway, the slayer and the witches daughter or son fall in love, which is a 
big no no. They believed and even still believe the slayer gets her power 
from her virginity.? This time Tara blushed.

?Well, that leaves Buffy out.? Xander said before being stared down by angry 
faces.

?OK, so the kingdom falls because the slayer wasn?t a virgin, which was the 
moral of the story. Only it doesn?t end there. Both of them get killed, and 
a witch curses them for eternity. They will keep repeating their lives, 
always opposing each other. One a slayer, the other a vampire, always 
finding each other and killing each other. When one dies so does the other, 
making sure they are both reborn at the same time. The curse will end at the 
end of days in the final judgement. There is also a part about the vampire 
killing its sire with its last breath and regaining its soul. There are a 
bunch of other trials they both have to do to break the curse. To be honest, 
I never did understand most of the story.? Tara finished.

?Alright, so the girl is part of a fairy tale. What are we supposed to do 
about it.? Riley asked wondering not for the first time at these peoples 
sanity. Nothing Tara said made the least little bit of sense.

The conversation got them nowhere after that, so the scooby gang did what 
they always did, research. And they made plans for keeping the souled 
vampire chained up in the basement.

Riley commandeered, ok stole, building material, a metal cage, cot, sheets 
and blankets, tools. Everything they needed to build a cage / bedroom for 
the girl in the basement.

The hardest part turned out to be getting Nikki out from under the stairs. 
She was terrified of people; afraid she might hurt someone. Afraid of the 
demon voice in her head.

They put the cage in the unfinished part of the basement. Anchoring it to 
the walls and floor. Next they put in dry wall to cover up most of the cage. 
It even had a hidden gate inside the door that could be closed at the bottom 
of the stair. Riley added a toilet, shower and sink to the basement in a 
second cage that could be reached inside the first cage.

The women decorated the room, rugs for the floor, throw pillows, a dresser, 
spots for chains and manacles, small refrigerator for blood. All the 
pleasantries of home.

Nikki for her part hid as much as possible. Hiding under the stairs or under 
the bed. She was so shy and quiet, the team began to take her for granted. 
They forgot to lock the cage or chain her up most of the time.

That was the first week. It was end of school, finals time and the team was 
booked. It was Willow?s turn to hit the butcher shop. She was late by about 
an hour. When she walked into the Summers home, she found everything in the 
refrigerator on the floor. The teen was tearing every item open and tasting 
it before throwing it across the room. Glowing blue eyes met the redhead.

?Hungry, witch. Hungry.? The vampire growled her fangs visible now, though 
her face was still human. The girl leapt across the room without even 
standing up first. The next thing Willow knew, the creature was licking her 
neck.

?Hungry?? This time the sound was more that of a child. Closing her eyes 
Nikki forced her eyes to human form. Opening them she saw the bag of blood 
Willow had dropped when she was tackled. The girl grabbed the bag and ran 
for the basement. Willow locked the basement door behind the vampire and ran 
for the phone. She was going to need help cleaning up the mess before Mrs. 
Summers got home.

In mid conference with Giles, Willow heard a scream from the basement.

Across town at the college, Riley meet Buffy outside of her history class. 
He was just about to ask how things went when Buffy screamed and fell to the 
ground. He was more shocked when blood dripped from her back. Looking under 
her sweeter for the source he found what could only be described as a whip 
mark. While he was looking he saw a second mark form across his lovers back 
as she gritted her teeth and held back her scream.

?Riley get me to my moms house, as fast as you can.? The slayer grunted out 
in pain.

Buffy then stood up and started running, fell on the ground when the force 
of another strike hit her. Riley helped her to the car. Buffy apologized 
about getting blood on his upholstery. Somehow, it wasn?t even close to the 
top things on his mind.

They rushed into the house; Willow was in the kitchen trying to drown out 
the sound of the screams from the basement by cleaning up.

?Will, where is Nikki??

?I locked her in the basement, I didn?t think Giles would get you on the 
phone this soon.?

?No time Will, get the first aid kit.?

Buffy unlocked the basement door before running down the stairs followed by 
two confused friends. Nikki was face down on the floor a few feet from the 
bottom of the stairs. Buffy pulled up her shirt and began to count the lash 
marks out loud. ?1, 2, 3, 4-5, 6, 7, seven so far, three more to go, Will 
help me get her shirt off.?

Not knowing why, Willow pulled the shirt off while Buffy carefully held the 
girl up. The vampire screamed and Willow watched a lash mark form on the 
girl?s back. Then she noticed Buffy and the blood covering her white 
sweater. As a pool of blood appeared to form underneath the sweeter.

?Buffy? Willow yelled, scared for her friend.

?It is ok, Will, only two more to go.? Buffy then ran to the bathroom for a 
towel to catch the blood coming from both her and the girl.

The last two came quick and together. Even Buffy was crying from the pain. 
Willow got Buffy?s sweater off of her and after a few minutes of arguing the 
witch got Buffy to lay down on the bed while Riley put Nikki inside the cage 
and chained her to the cage wall.

?Willow please get her some blood.? Buffy asked breathing hard on her 
stomach as she stretched across the cot. Willow picked up the bag of blood 
that the girl dropped on the floor and handed it to the vampire. Once Willow 
gave the vampire the butcher?s blood she was happy and didn?t seem to care 
about being topless.

Riley had gone up stairs and gotten the first aid kit. He had moved over to 
Buffy to look at the wounds.

?Don?t bother fixing them they will be mostly healed by tonight.? Buffy said 
before reaching into a dresser drawer for one of Nikki?s tee shirts.

?Ok, then can you tell me what the hell just happened?? Riley asked with his 
back to Buffy while she put on the shirt.

?We were punished.? Buffy said evenly as she stood up.

?Why?? Willow asked before wondering if she should have added 'how'.

?I don?t know, what did Nikki do to you before it happened??

?She just knocked me down to get the blood bag and ran to the basement.? The 
witch answered.

?She was upstairs?? Riley asked angrily.

?What, you thought I did the mess in the kitchen by myself?? Willow said 
with sarcasm in her voice then added, ?She was hungry, hence the mess in the 
kitchen. She knocked me down to get the bag then ran downstairs, I don?t 
think she meant any harm.?

?Willow, she doesn?t mean to hurt anyone, it?s the demon and she doesn?t 
really know how to control it. She isn?t like Angel. Her soul never left her 
body, and it will take time to control the demon, that?s why we keep her 
chained up.? Buffy said to her friend slowly, knowing most of this Willow 
already knew. The slayer was really just telling herself this, more than her 
friends. It was so hard to know things when you didn?t have solid facts to 
justify what you knew.

?God I want to know how Tara does it.? Then Buffy realized she said that out 
loud.

?What?? Willow asked with concern in her voice.

?How Tara, knows things without facts, like when she knew Faith was in my 
body. It?s nothing and I am babbling and it is not what I need to know.? 
Buffy said

?Are you sure you're ok?? Willow asked touching Buffy?s shoulder lightly.

?What did she do to you, Willow? I really need to know.?

?It was nothing, really she was just hungry.?

?Will, tell me.?

?She licked me, ok.? Riley looked down below Willow?s waist.

?Riley, she doesn?t mean Tara, get your mind out of the gutter soldier boy.? 
Buffy said laughing at her boyfriend.

Both Riley and Willow blushed.

?I like ah, licked her neck, Buffy. I was hungry. It tasted good.? The 
formally silent teen said after she finished her blood.

?So which one of you am I talking to?? Buffy said as she sat down on the 
floor next to the chained girl.

?Both? the girl whispered.

?So you are starting to merge already.? Buffy said the last part as a 
statement then added. ?Can I talk to the demon for a minute??

?NO!? the girl shouted, then whispered ?she?ll hurt you.?

?Just for a minute, you can stay there too, just let her answer, ok ? Buffy 
said in her kindest tone. She knew it was the girl she was talking with now.

?Well the Bitch wants me now, you ready for a roll in the hay yet, or are 
you going to tell me you're still a virgin?? The demon voice roared from the 
teen.

?What can?t wait for me Morgania? So did you enjoy the whipping?? Buffy 
answered in the same tone she used just before dusting a vampire.

?And I bet you are telling all your little friends, Moria, how awful it was, 
please I remember how much you loved to be spanked. Please baby just spank 
me so I can come.? The demon didn?t finish. Buffy had her pinned to the cage 
wall by the neck. Almost braking the chains as she held the girl up.

?One more word and I snap your neck in half.? Buffy said between clenched 
teeth.

?You kill me, you kill her.? The demon reasoned

?She will be reborn just like you, and me. Maybe it would be better if I 
just let her die now before she does lose her innocence. Before the two of 
you merge.? Buffy said out loud.

?And kill yourself, your friends, I don?t think so. If you were going to 
kill us, we would already be on the way to the next soul. The circle of life 
baby.? The demon spat back.

The room was quiet for a long moment. Then Buffy dropped the demon to the 
floor and sat down on the bed.

?So this is your latest Boy Toy. You always did go for the brooding soldier 
types. Dumb, brave, handsome and well hung.? The demon laughed.

?Just let her rant, get it out of her system.? Buffy said before flopping 
across the bed. Followed by a cringe from the pain it caused across her 
back.

?I almost forgot the little redhead, a little witch, Soldier boy you knew 
Moria always swings both ways. The girl always has some little groupie girl 
she uses. Loves to let them eat her pussy. I bet she would let you watch if 
you asked nicely.? The demon taunted.

Buffy had closed her eyes on the bed when she heard the sound of Riley 
slugging the girl. The slayer was holding him back before he could hit her a 
second time.

?Riley, you shouldn?t hurt her. That is what the demon wants. Come on tell 
me you couldn?t tell that was the demon talking, the weird voice isn?t a 
clue.? Riley a little ashamed of himself backed out of the cage.

?Nikki, are you ok?? Buffy said examining the girl?s jaw where Riley punched 
her.

?I am hungry again and I smell blood on you.? Her eyes were glowing blue 
again her fangs starting to show.

?I know and I am sorry, Why don?t you go to sleep for a little while and let 
the demon free. I will check the chains and lock you up in the cage. I won?t 
let you hurt anyone.? Buffy said sweetly to the girl.

?Hungry? The girl answered.

?I am sorry, I don?t want you too strong yet. Not until you have better 
control, so you are going to have to be a little hungry, ok?? Buffy was very 
sweet to the girl as she reached for more chains under the bed.

Once the three of them had her chained on the bed comfortably with her CD?s 
and player where she could reach it and work it. They started to leave when 
the slayer stopped Riley and Willow with an arm to each of them.

?Morgania, just to set the record straight, Moria loved to have a good 
playful spank, and she loved to sleep her way through the ranks of the kings 
men. She was a 16-year-old slayer who thought she was going to die and 
didn?t want to miss anything. Just a kid. And Moria liked girls too. They 
call it Bisexuality these days.
But Morg, that was Moria, I am Buffy not Moria. My father never beat me as a 
way of training me to be a slayer, and I haven?t been 16 in a long time.?

?Slayer, you almost convinced me.? The demon laughed

?Wasn?t trying to, Morg, but I will not play the game with you. They will 
find out the truth sooner or later but it will happen when it happens. .? 
Buffy turned to her friends, hoping they would stay her friends. I have 
Moria?s soul; I probably like girls and boys equally. Only I never really 
slept around that much to find out. Angel was my first, Parker was a mistake 
and the second, Riley is the only other person I have ever slept with. I was 
tempted with Willow only she was so crazy about Xander at the time; I just 
didn?t want to lose my best friend. I still get jealous of Tara.? Buffy and 
Willow shared a friendly smile at that confession.

Then Buffy frowned. ? I was also tempted with Faith. Thank God I didn?t. And 
that Morgania is what you have to work with?

?And the kid, you forgot about the kid.?

Buffy was in a ?now or never spot.? The truth would hold back the demon?s 
control. The kid would need to come clean just as Buffy had just done. If 
not the demon would have one more weapon to use against all of them.

?Nikki, tell the truth ok, tell Morgania what she is trying to use as a 
weapon, please tell her about your?ah? Buffy really didn?t know how to ask 
the girl to pour out her private life. ?Sexual side.? Buffy finished.

?I want blood.? The girl stated.

?Sorry? Buffy said patiently after she realized it was really the girl 
speaking. ?Tell her, Brighid, tell her Usha. If it is out in the open she 
can?t use it against us.? Buffy pleaded.

?I think I am gay, only ?.. I ah ?.ah ? the girl stammered finding a spot on 
the ceiling fascinating. Riley and Willow were looking at each other and 
back at the girl. They had an idea what Buffy was doing, they didn?t 
understand of coarse but they had an idea.

?I didn?t think vampires could blush.? Willow whispered to Riley.

?Nikki, how about I help, all you have to do is say yes or no, ok??

?I?ll try? The vampire whispered.

?You kissed a girl before.?

?Yes and a boy."

?But you like girls better right??

?Yes? The vampire was staring everywhere but at Buffy.

?Gay?? Buffy was remaining patient but she wanted the girl to just tell her 
the truth.

?Yes?

?Ever slept with anyone??

?Not .. ah, ah? Finally the blushing vampire lent up and whispered into 
Buffy?s ears.

?I don?t think that counts as all the way, but it is close.? Buffy said. 
?Look, it?s ok, just don?t let Morg bug you about it. Make her tell you some 
of the things she did in human form.

After locking the girl up they found Xander and Giles cleaning up the 
kitchen. Willow seeing the kitchen being cleaned grabbed her best friend and 
pulled the blond to the side.

?Groping beneath the clothes? Buffy said before Willow could ask what the 
girl had whispered in her ear.
