Somebody mentioned having seen a Matrix crossover that involved Buffy
being an Agent designed to fight a "virus" in the system that causes
such things as vampires. I believe that this fic was called "The
Sunnydale Simulation", and I'm sure that fic is currently available on
page 5 of Fanfiction.net's Matrix page, under Movie fic. (If anyone
cares; if not, ignore this)
