Saturday Morning
Saturday morning started off with a bang. I was having this wonderful dream
about Faith and ice cream when Mom shakes me awake. I tend to be a pretty
deep sleeper. Anyway Mom is standing over me with her arms crossed looking
all pissed and I figure I must have done something wrong. So I look around
and sure enough I am in Faith's room with Faith curled around me.
When Faith first moved in, Mom made a rule that there was going to be no sex
in the house. It didn't last. Mostly because I was like, "What? Go ahead
ground me." I spend most of my time in school or with the job so I honestly
don't have a lot of free time. My Aunt Helen, moms' sister, a slayer, died
when she was seventeen. So I also play the Aunt Helen card.
"I am not dying a virgin like Aunt Helen."
Anyway Mom and I came to an agreement. I only sleep in Faith's room on the
weekends. On school nights I have to stay in my own room. And for the most
part I abide by Mom's rule. So when I wake up and see Mom standing over me
with her arms crossed looking pissed I figure I screwed up. Sometime I have
these nightmares and I can't sleep so I sneak down and sleep with Faith.
Anyway, I wake up and say, "Sorry Mom, I'll hurry and get ready for school."
And mom says, "Elizabeth, it's Saturday morning."
And that is when I stop and have to think. "Then what did I do wrong?" I ask
because mom has that pissed as hell look she gets. Honestly I couldn't think
of anything I had done wrong in weeks.
"You didn't do anything wrong that I know about, Eek is up stairs. She
scared your sister trying to climb into your bedroom window. It must be
important because she hasn't left yet and Tony threatened to kill her. I
called Rupert and Jenny. They should be here soon."
Tony doesn't like me being a slayer. He hates all the 'hocus pocus' stuff.
Tony really hates Eek. He has hit her several times. I knew if Tony and Eek
had gotten into it, Mom was not going to be happy for a week. Furniture
usually gets broken when they get into it. Mostly because Eek runs through
the house like a chicken with its head cut off screaming and Tony runs after
her crashing into the furniture. The man has no coordination.
"Sorry." I don't know what else to say.
"Just get dressed." Mom says before leaving. I roll over and look at Faith
who is half-asleep. Faith could sleep through a marching band playing in the
center of her bedroom. I lean over and kiss her and shake her a little.
Normally we sleep in on Saturday mornings and make love when we wake up. I
love waking up in Faith's arms. Sometime just looking at her brown eyes I
just want to fall into her and never stop falling.
"Honey we need to get up, Tony and Eek are at it again." I tell her.
"No!" She says covering her head with the pillow. So I pull the covers off
both of us and kiss her breast. Faith sleeps in the nude. I like that.
Anyway I kiss her breast and start kissing my way up until she pulls the
pillow off her face and peeks at me. I kiss her lips and then grab the
pillow and push her out of bed.
"Bitch" She says from her vantage point on the floor. For Faith that is
sweet talk in the morning.
I hop out of bed and grab my robe. I know I need to get upstairs before Tony
decides to try and beat up Eek. Which is really stupid. Eek is a push over
but she is still a demon. Tony would be hard pressed in a real fight. I have
seen her lift huge stones and move them. Glory has Eek do the strangest
things. Glory has a rock garden in her back yard and she has Eek move these
huge stones around the grounds sometimes for days.
Tara has a theory that the stones line up some kind of mystical energy that
Glory is using. Me, I just think it's one more way Glory punishes Eek.
When I get upstairs I can hear Mom and Tony arguing in the living room. Dawn
and Eek are in the kitchen eating cereal.
One look at Eek and I know things are not right. Eek is green. You have to
understand Eek normally holds her human appearance when she comes over.
Especially when Tony is over.
"Joyce why the hell do you put up with your stupid dyke daughter and her
weird friends is beyond me, but exposing Dawn to that Green thing. The girl
was scared, as any normal kid would be. That god damn thing is a demon." I
hear Tony shout at mom from the other room. Mom said something back and they
lower their voices. I could probably hear what they were saying if I
concentrated but frankly I just get tired of being called a dyke by Tony. It
gets really old.
Anyway I look at Eek and her hands are shaking and she is eating like a
normal person. Eek is normally so hungry she shovels the food in like she is
starving to death. Now she was just eating slowly. What ever it was I could
tell it was really bad.
About this time Jenny knocks at the front door. And I am so glad she is
here. I hear Jenny talking to mom. And then I hear Tony stomp off. Jenny
pisses the hell out of Tony, one more reason why I love her. I sit down at
the table and pour myself some cereal. Faith comes upstairs and does the
same. I can here Mom telling Jenny the long version of what she told me.
Basically Eek climbed up the tree and onto the roof and tried to climb into
the house. She does that sometimes. I think she knows Faith and I sleep in
the basement on Friday and Saturday nights so she would have just gotten in
my bed and slept until I came upstairs to get dressed. Most of the time I
don't tell mom she was there because it worries her. Sometimes during the
week I wake up and Eek is sleeping on the floor by my bed. Its not like she
has anywhere else to go or she does it all the time. Sometimes I don't see
Eek for weeks.
This morning Dawn happened to hear her and looked out the window and it
scared her. All she saw was a green thing breaking in the house. Eek must be
in bad shape to be climbing in without her human persona.
In the middle of Mom and Jenny talking Tony stormed out of the house
knocking over Danny and Willow who were just arriving. "Fucking Freaks." I
heard him say as he got in his truck and sped away. Giles arrived just as
Tony was driving away.
Giles came into the kitchen and told me to go get dressed while Jenny and
Mom were recapping for Willow and Danny. I really wanted to hit Danny up for
a cigarette but Mom hates for me to smoke. This is weird; not only can I
smell hormones and when people have sex but I can smell people's moods.
Weird I know. I could smell Tony and Moms argument and Tony being a general
asshole all over the house. I could also smell Eek's pain and fear. I really
wanted to just not smell it. Danny must have known because as I was heading
up the stairs he slipped me a half a pack of smokes. Danny always has about
3 or 4 packs on him at a given time. Personally I think he could buy a small
house on what he smokes but I am not complaining.
So I hurry up to my room and get my clothes and go into the bathroom. The
only good thing about Tony is he smokes and Mom doesn't know when I smoke
too. Well Danny comes over and smokes enough for all of us. I go into the
bathroom and turn on the shower. We have one of those hand held kind, so I
lit up and hold the shower head with the other hand. I wash below my head
and smoke with the other hand. I bet that is hard to picture but I was
desperate. Finally I have to wash my hair so I toss the cigarette into the
toilet and finish up. It was enough to block the bad smells.
When I get down stairs Faith and Dawn are in the living room watching
Saturday morning cartoons. They get along really well which makes me happy.
I stop long enough to give Faith a kiss and for Dawn to give the obligatory
'Ew.' Dawn really is ok with me and Faith, but she is still a kid so you
have to expect her to say stuff from time to time.
I go back into the kitchen and everyone is sitting around the table looking
at a very uncomfortable Eek.
"Look you either have information or you don't." I hear Giles say in an
angry tone.
"Was just hungry, Beth said I could eat, come here eat." Eek said in Broken
English. No body bought it. Eek was really smart. Even for a Yantrack demon.
She pretends not to speak well around most people but most of us have heard
her speak normally.
"Eshara, please don't play games." Jenny said patiently. I forgot to tell
you Eek's real name is Eshara Zan-Trashkra. Eek is a lot easier to say.
"No games, I was just hungry." Eek said looking at the table. Even I wasn't
buying the story.
"Eek let Jenny look at your back." I said entering the room and taking a
seat. I could smell her pain even after the cigarette.
"I think that is a good idea." Danny added. He must have been able to smell
it as well.
"No it's ok, just hungry." Eek said holding down her shirt and starting to
get up. I actually think she was going to try and run out of the house. At
least she didn't scream. That high pitched scream she has kills my ears.
As she was getting up Giles, who was the closest to her, put a hand on her
shoulders. It less than a second he and Danny had tossed her over the
kitchen table. This time she screamed and Danny and I had to cover our ears.
Willow slapped her across the back and said, "Stop it." Eek jerked hard on
the table but shut up. Somehow before she jerked I ended up with my arms on
her. I honestly don't remember moving over and grabbing her. I often do
things on auto pilot. It's like my body just reacts and then decides to tell
my head about it after everything is done.
"Hold her." Willow directs me. One look at Willow's green eyes and I would
follow her into a lava pit. Willow is just so damn hot. Anyway Willow pulls
up her shirt. We are all used to Glory whipping Eek and most of her minions.
The woman is positively bullwhip happy. And that is what we all expected to
see on Eek's back.
I almost threw up when I got a good look at her back. There were fresh
bullwhip marks like always but the worms- gross. Glory had dumped a bunch of
Grisstrell worms into the wounds. Grisstrell worms are these weird demon
worms. They don't do anything to humans, which is really weird. They are
like maggots for demons. They use them to torture each other. If they are
put in wounds they crawl around digging in the skin and well I don't know
what they do other then they are really gross and I think painful. Plus if
you don't get them out in a week or so they are like there forever.
Disgusting in the extreme.
"How long have you had these!?" Jenny asked in a hurry. I think Jenny is
like me, she actually likes Eek.
"Almost three days. She wouldn't let me go until last night. I didn't know
where else to go. The Doctor wanted a lot of money to get rid of them." Eek
said just above a whisper.
The Doctor was a demon who treated other demons. He charged a fortune for
his services. He also did a lot of nasty spells. Trust me, he was on my
personal list of demons to run out of town right after the mayor. Yeah our
mayor is not only a member of the moral majority, right to life and people
who thinks queers should be burned at the stake he is also a demon. Giles
won't let me touch him.
"Why the hell didn't you just tell us what was wrong?" Willow said angrily.
That woman has such fire. Damn she is sexy.
"Fear." Eek whispered.
"Giles would you go get Tara and Danny I am going to give you a list of
supplies we need to get, you may need Xander to help you get everything on
the list." Jenny said taking command. This feel into her department.
"I'll call Tara, Beth would you call Xander?" Willow said getting out her
cell phone.
After phone calls and the guys left Jenny had me get some rope and tie Eek
to the kitchen table. Eek gets scared at the drop of a hat and we all knew
she would try and run sooner or later. Mom was not pleased but in general
Mom understood slaying stuff came first. Eek was important to us. We learned
more about the city demons from her than just about anyone else.
Mom took Dawn out shopping. Mostly just to get her out of the house. Faith
would have gone with her except Kate was coming over in the afternoon to
take her to a softball game. Kate has this whole guilt thing going over
Faith so she takes Faith to her Saturday games and then both of us out to
diner. Kate was ok for a cop.
Giles told both Faith and I to get ready to go out. Dealing with Eek was
going to take most of the day so he didn't think I would be needed. He
assured me that Danny and Xander could handle Eek. I hoped he was right.
Actually Danny could shift into a half wolf that was pretty strong so I
wasn't extremely worried. Still I didn't want anyone hurt. Eek might do
something accidentally. That happened to me a lot. Sometimes I don't know
how strong I really am. I break mom's glasses all the time. When I first
became active Mom made me use plastic cups I broke so many glasses. I broke
the stair case banister, the door to Moms car, and the bookshelf in the
living room. Honestly it's hard to hold back all the time.
So I ended up curled up in Faiths arms watching cartoons waiting for Kate
while the team did stuff in the kitchen. At some point Willow and Jenny came
into the Living room. And I guess Faith and I started staring at Willow
again. It's really hard not to stare at her. She is just totally hot. I am a
teenage Slayer. We have hormone issues; well that's what Jenny tells me.
Well after a few minutes Willow looks at us both and goes, "You're staring
again."
Both Faith and I go into blush factor max. Thankfully Kate showed up to take
us to the ballpark. And that was my Saturday morning. Maybe not typical but
pretty close to normal, whatever normal is.
