FIC: Is This Really Happening?

The sunset in a beautifully orchestrated aray of colors, that seemed unending. Nothing upset the peaceful scene, birds quietly chirping in their nests, no cars to cease the peaceful balance.

"Aggggggggghhhhh!"

"Xander! What possesed you to get up their and put up lights?!" Xnader picked himself up off of the ground, checking to see if he had broken any limbs.

"Gee, I don't know. It could be the fact that it's what people do during the holidays!" Anya smacked her boyfriend.

"How was I supposed to know that? I was worried when you fell, I'm sorry."

"S'okay. Now come here and give me sugar." Anya ran over and kissed Xander till he started to lose consciousness.

"Oh. They look so cute!" Buffy Summers laughed at her girlfriend's abstract comment.

"Yes, quite so. Now if we could move this impromptu get together inside before anyone else get hurt."

"Alright G-Man."

"Xander."

Once they were all settled Giles asked what the plan for Christmas was.

"I thought we would get up early, unwrap the presents and then relax/cook. Then there is the whole food thing." Willow smiled at the organized blonde. [I'd like to see Buffy get up early!!]

"Yes! Food!!" Everyone groaned except Xander and Anya.

"Hey he gets hungary and he should eat it keeps him strong. He needs to be strong so that he-"

"That's enough honey." Xnader removed his hand from over Anya's mouth.

"Sounds as if you have thought of everything." Buffy frowned.

"Yup. Well almost everything and I need to go take care of it right now." Buffy stood up and went over to get her coat. "You cool here Wills?"

"Yeah."

"Coming with Xand?"

"Sure." The duo left leavving Anya, Willow, and Giles alone. [I better get the bloody out of here before Anya says something!]

"You know what? I forgot something too! Let's go Anya." Giles looked surprised. "I just, need help with someone else carrying it."

"Great! So now since you found Buffy a gift I don't have to go back to that crazy mall." Giles smirked as Willow pulled Anyan ou the door.

"Come on Anya!"

"I thought you said-"

"Just... let's go."

"Okay, but if you do that loudness thing again I'll leave."

Xnder watched as Buffy went store to store. [Man, I didn't kow Buffy could do a leg sweep and put a figurine back on a shelf!] The blonde paused, her eye seeing somehting sparkle. Buffy went over and picked it up, turning the object over. [Perfect!]

Willow cowered behind the cash register of the department store as Anya repeatedly hit an elderly woman on the head.

"Let go! My friend wants to see that!" The oldere woman stook her tongue out, which was a big mistake. "Ha ha!" The elderly woman tried to call for help, but could not be heard at all, considering Anya was holding her tongue. "Now just let go!" the woman did, causing Anya and herself to fall over. Willow stared in shock as Anya grabbed the would be present from the unconscious elderly lady. [I'm so glad that she is on our side!]

Willow looked at the gift she had picked out for Buffy. [ I know it corny, but I hope she likes it.] The door opened and the blonde in question strolled in.

"Hey baby. What'cha got there?" Willow quickly placed the present in the bag.

"Nothing."

"It didn't look like nothing." Willow paled.

"You didn't see it did you?" Buffy's eyews went wide.

"It's for me?! Let me see it!!" Willow gave a sigh of relief. "Come on! Please!" The redhead shook her head no.

"No way. But if your real nice I'll give you something else."

"Is it better than the gift?"

"Much." Buffy pretended to think about it, and Willow kissed her.

"Your right, much better."

Buffy pulled back from Willow, trying to catch her breath. The redhead sat up also, glad that Buffy had stopped before anything had happened.

"I know we haven't talked about this, but I don't want to rush things." Willow h=nodded her head, straightening her clothes.

"I understand, and me too." Buffy smiled.

"I love you and I don't want to mess this up. And it seems each time my relationships get physical they end badly." Willow grinned, remembering.

"Yeah." Buffy hit her with a pillow

"Hey!"

"You started it." Willow got serious. "That won't happen to us. We have each other and even some parental support."

"But what about my mom? She apologized, but she still hurt me Wills." Willow hugged her girlfriend.

"I know it hurts, but she's trying. When she learned you were the slayer she freaked, but came around. And now that she's had time to get used to the idea of us and she's back." Buffy sighed. "I really think you should try to reconcile with her."

"Yeah, but I'm scared. Will you help me get through it?"

"Ofcourse! What kind of girlfriend would I be if I didn't?"

Joyce Summers sat down and picked at the food on her t.v dinner. [I wonder what Buffy's doing? Probably with Willow.]

KNOCK! KNOCK!

Joyce got up and answered the door. "Buffy! What are you doing here? Hello Willow."

"I- we wanted to talk." Joyce moved out of the doorway, so the girls could come inside. Buffy pulled Willow with her to sit down on the couch, while Joyce sat in the chair. Willow watched the two blondes wondering who was going to speak.

"Are you hungry? Thirsty?"

"Actually a drink would be rerally good Mrs. Summers."

"Yeah me too."

"Is lemonade alright?" The girls shook their heads and Joyce went into the kitchen.

"Remind me again about how I can do this." Willow held Buffy's hand.

"You can do this. I'm here and nothing bad can happen. DON'T worry." Joyce walked back into the living room and handed the girls their drinks.

"So..." Buffy took a sip of her, trying to calm her nerves.

"I wanted to talk about the last few weeks." The blond glanced at Willow, who nodded her head. "I was really hurt when you... did what you did. I wish that we could have talked about what I had said that night, but you didn't allow that. So I want you to ask any questions you might have so we can get over this." Joyce looked at the two girls.

"I know you love each other, and that's good, but how long have you been... you know?" Buffy felt Willow squeeze her hand.

""We've been going out for about two weeks."

"That's not what I meant, although it is nice to know."

"What do you-Oh! Well I don't know about Buffy, but I have always loved her. I don't know exactly when it was that I realized it though. Actually I do, it was the first time she smiled at me." Buffy grinned.

"And how could anyone not fall in love with her the moment they meet her? I know that's when I did."

"But you both went out with boys?" Willow giggled.

"I was nervous because Buffy was like, the chosen one, the slayer, and I didn't want to lose her as a friend. Plus parents kind of look down on that kind of thing." Joyce looked at Buffy.

"I, Willow had this crush on Xander and I got invloved with Angel. And then there was Oz, but it's always been Willow." Joyce sat back stunned.

"So have you?"

"Have we what?"

"Not that it's any of my business or anything, I'm just conscerned because I'm your mother, and I've known Willow for four years, and I just wanted you to be safe, and now i'm really embrassed." Joyce covered her face with her hands. [How could I have just said that??] Willow looked at Buffy and whispered,"That was a pretty good babble." Buffy smiled.

"Mom?" Joyce removed her hands from her face. "We haven't ... you know. We want to wait and not mess up our relationship." Joyce nodded her head. [I can't believe she's really trying! I'm so happy!!] Buffy's thoughts were interrrupted by Willow.

"So is that everything you wanted to know?"

"Yes. I know I reacted badly, but I want to make it up to you. What are you doing for Christmas Willow?"

"Well that gang is staying at Giles's and were doing the Hannukah exchange thing too."

"oh."

"Your going to be there right?" Joyce glanced at Buffy who was smiling at her.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world."
