Kryptonite Repost (Minor Changes)

Okay, a friend of mine brought up an interesting question, about why Diana raised Adrienne, why not Lois and Clark, since they can't have kids. Okay I felt bad about that and frankly it was a good point. I cannot stress this enough, it is a minor change as in an added sentence here and paragraph there; but it does make more sense this way. Bear with me.

Thank you, Carmen

REPOST

Title:	Kryptonite (1/?)

Author: Carmen

E-mail: ortiz_c4021@xxxxxxxxxxx

Disclaimer: None of these characters belong to me. The Scooby Gang and friends belong to Joss Whedon and Mutant Enemy. All characters from the DCU do not belong to me I?m just taking out for a ride through my twisted imagination, Adrienne Mackenzie Prince is mine.

Rating: For now PG-13 to R depending on your point of view.

Summary: In the DCU eighteen years ago during a battle with Darksied, a strange and mysterious anomaly occured , unleashed by an experiment by Julian September at a critical time and out of this anomaly was born a child to two of the most powerful heroes of the JLA, now attending UC Sunnydale, she will become the Slayers greatest ally.

Author?s Note: This is really more of a Faith/Other romance with Buffy/Willow pairing as well. Faith redeemed herself and is still part of the Scoobies in my story. Also I?ve messed with the timeline on a lot of stuff. Joyce Summer lives!!

Distribution: I like sharing, just give me a heads up.

Feedback? Yes please!!

Gateway City

Adrienne waited for her mother to come back from the JLA Watchtower, she knew that her mother was anxious to know what her descision was regarding her future. She was lucky, her mother and father both agreed that she would be allowed free reign when it came to her life, they didn?t want or expect her to follow in their footsteps until she was ready.

?Adrienne, she back yet?? Cassie asked.

?Nope, I?m kinda nervous too.?

?You shouldn?t be, besides you at least decided to go to college, that ought to give you some major points with Diana.?

?You mean it would if she was a normal parent, right??

?Nah, their not that different, ask my mom.? Cassie replied with a grin.

Adrienne smiled at her friend, she was lucky that this time she could tell her about who her parents were, unlike when her mother had lived in Boston. Ever since she has born her mother continued to fight the good fight against the evil of the world and beyond, and while she did that her daughter was enrolled in the local school forever hiding in a mask of anonymity.

Her father and Lois Lane had married right before she was born, before though they were trying to come to an agreement about how she would be raised, they sought out Batman to help with an unbiased opinion. His solution was that she would be known as Kents? daughter, but because of his profession and the dangerous enemies his writings made him she would be raised where she would have the mimimum danger, until they knew the extent of her abilities.

Soon through at the age of fifteen she had decided that she wanted to me closer to her mother, feeling that the settlement they had reached was not in her own best interest she told them to make it public she was attending a boarding school, who?s location was being kept confidential. In that manner she would be able to stay with her mother, and visit her grandmother.

What really irratated her growing up was the over protectiveness of the JLA, and TeenTitans, luckily Young Justice were not like the others, they treated her like a friend, of course it did help that Cassie and Kon were in the group.

?Hi sweet-heart,? her mother called as she landed through the opened window.

?Mom,? she began, ?I?ve got news.?

Diana Princess of Thymescria, known to the world as Wonder Woman looked at her daughter with pride in her eyes. She could understand how difficult her descision must have been.

?Well,? Diana prompted her.

?First I want to say that I love you and Dad very much, and thank you for not pushing me to try to do what you do, I know I?m not ready for that. Um, well I just applied to a college in Texas, UT in Austin and if I get accepted I plan on enrolling.?

?What?s in Austin?? Diana asked, wondering what must have gotten her daughters attention.

?Well that?s the thing, nothing. I wanted to get away and really try to be more independant and go somewhere I?ll have some real anonimoty, I want to just get away, really.? Adrienne said hoping that she hadn?t hurt her mother in any way.

?Well, if you get accepted then go for it, but you know that your grandmother expects you to spend your summer on the Island, don?t you??

Adrienne smiled, ?I?ve never missed a summer yet, have I??

2001
UC Sunnydale,
Sunnydale, CA

After having talked to her father last summer Adrienne thought that it would be best if she enrolled under a new name in a new college, Adrienne Mackenzie. So here she was a Sophomore in UC Sunnydale. Already she made a friend in Willow Rosenburg, she was a little bit strange but nice and smart.

She had a few classes with Willow and Buffy Summers, Willow?s room-mate and best friend. She was nice and they seemed to all get along even though there was something about this place that was kinda quirky.

Her father had talked to the college at Austin and things went down hill from there. Because of who her father was, a famous journalist for the Daily Planet they wanted to treat her with kid gloves, special treatment, the whole nine yards, she was forced to leave the college and transfer.

Thanks to Oracle, her new identity was working perfectly, she did feel sorry that she had to draw the line when her parents had decided to oppose her descision of a new identity. Leaving without warning from the Island that summer, and going to Oracle, she convinced her to keep her location a secret, and left a letter for each of her parents. After talking to her grandparents the Kents, she knew that her descision was accepted, not liked but accepted nonetheless.

So Sunnydale was starting to look up, no kid gloves, no special treatment, no superheroes checking up on her, yep things were going well.

?Hey Mac,? Buffy said sitting down at the table, ?you order yet??

?No, I?ve been waiting for you guys.?

?Willows running late, she should be here soon.?

Just as she said that Willow arrived followed by Anya, looking apologetically at Buffy the two sat and ordered. Mac, as she was known here, didn?t know much about Willow and Buffy?s other friends, Anya and Faith, she knew about Xander, but for some reason the other two seemed to always avoid really meeting her.

Whether this was by accident or design Mac wasn?t sure, but never gave it much thought. She was lucky that she barely even knew them by sight.

Deciding to take the opportunity to find out more about Anya, Mac asked, ?So Anya, where are you from??

?Huh?? Anya responded.

?Where are you from, where were you born, we never get to talk so I thought I?d ask.?

?Oh, right, cause that?s what human er, people do they ask stuff.?

Looking at Buffy and Willow, Anya shrugged her shoulders not really sure if she should say anything.

?What about you,? she suddenly asked on the defensive.

?I asked first,? Mac grinned, she really liked her, she was quirky as hell.

?Okay okay! I?m a 1,100 year old former vengeance demon, geez I?m not even supposed to tell you!?

Mac laughed, ?Okay I?ll bite, um I?m a 18 year old super human Amazon Princess posing as a college student.?

?Really!??

Mac laughed harder this was too much, ?Okay for real now, come on I want to know.?

?Anya?s from Sunnydale, well she transfered during High School,? Buffy said glad that Mac hadn?t believed Anya.

Glaring at the ex-vengeance demon she continued, ?So what about you??

?Well I was born in Gotham, and since my mom moved alot I?ve been to Metropolis, Boston, and Gateway, and Smallville, Kansas. I transfered to Sunnydale from Austin, Texas, and um I guess that?s about it.?

Having listened to Mac tell the condensed version of her life again, both Buffy and Willow already knew this Willow asked, ?What about your Dad, oh I?m sorry I shouldn?t have brought that up, cause maybe you don?t get along and stuff, um I?ll shut up now.?

?No that?s okay, um my Dad well that?s complicated,? she paused.

?You don?t have to say anything,? Buffy said quickly.

?No really it?s fine, it?s just that my family is kinda wierd. You see my Mom and Dad never married, but they were close, and um my Dad married someone else before I was born and they um well they are my parents as far as birth records are concerned, she?s nice and I like her but um, I don?t feel totally comfortable around her cause they can?t have kids, and I always feel really bad about that. It?s not my fault and she never treats me badly but I feel sorry for her, you know? My mom though is great, they made sure that I would know her and in a way all of them raised me.?

?Why didn?t your parents get married?? Anya asked before Buffy could stop her.

?It would have gotten in the way of their um, careers.?

They group talked more and then left to go their seperate ways. Walking through the halls of the University Mac was too preoccupied with what Anya had said earlier to notice that she was walking into the midst of an argument.

?Go away you freak!? an angry male voice reached Mac.

Looking up she say three guys surrounding a younger girl, she was shorter than Mac?s 5?9, but instead of being intimidated she seemed to be angry, at least from what little she could see of her.

?Look jerk-off! I?m just here to find my friends and them I?m gone, ?kay? So get out of my way!? she retorted.

?Oh yeah? Make us.?

?Damn, I promised no messing with humans!? Faith fumed.

?That?d be easy,? Mac said from behind them.

The three guys turned around, and spotted her leaning casually against the wall.

?I just saw the campus police head this way, and you guys know there?s no rule against her being here, it is an open campus.?

Faith caught a glimpse of the gangs college friend, not sure what to make of her.

?Fine, but she better be gone and soon or next time she won?t get off so lucky.?

Mac walked up to the group, as Faith pushed her way through to her, the leader sneered and pushed her roughly. Mac caught her before she fell, and looked the leader straight in the eyes, he waivered and they left the two young women alone.

Still in Macs? embrace Faith looked up to get a good look at her.

?So, um ya think ya can let go, you know I can stand, right??

?Hmm? Oh sorry, hey you?re Faith right??

?Yeah, you seen Buffy??

?Yeah she said she and Willow were going to research something, maybe they?re at the library,? she said, noticing the way Faith snorted softly, her hearing being as keen as her parents.

?Sure thanks, I?ll uh go find them, bye,? Faith said dismissally.

?Are you all right,? Mac asked.

?Five by five, later.?

That night Mac lay awake running everything from that day through her mind, looking back she knew now that when Anya had initially answered her question, she was telling the truth, she had just not wanted to see that.

That was just too strange, her voice didn?t show any signs of strain you?d usually hear in someone not telling the truth, and Faith, what exactly does she do? Why did she seem to be affected by her presense, they never met but in that brief contact she felt something she couldn?t readily identify.

Feeling restless she decided that a quick night time soar through the skies would be just what she?d need to clear her head.

Leaving her single room she put on a light weight jacket and walked across campus to reach one of the more secluded pathways. Just as she prepared to take off she heard the sounds of a scuffle off to her left and stealthily made her way keeping to the shadows provided by the trees.

Mac was in no was prepared for what she saw Buffy, Willow, and their friends were battling ten assailants with yellow eyes, protruding forehead, and fangs. One of them was even fighting his own kind, his bleached blonde hair also making it easier to identify him. What really shocked her was the larger creature that seemed to be the leader of the other group. His red scales, black pupil-less eyes towered over over the tallest of them.

An older man, Mac had never seen before was standing near Willow chanting with her in a terrible Latin.

Mac didn?t know what to do, help or stay hidden.

?Come on uglies, you can?t beat the Chosen Two, and Scoobies.? Faith added dusting her opponent with a wooden stake.

?Wooden stake, and here I thought the Bat was bad,? Mac thought.

The battle raged around them and they pulled together against the odds, Buffy and Faith fighting with strength they shouldn?t have. Willow seemed to keep the ?Vampires? for lack of a better term, at bay with crossed and vials of water. Xander and Anya were also doing the same, but Xander was actually trying to stake them too.

He got hit more times than her hit but after a few weeks with Batman she could see that he had potential.

?Vamp dusting, America?s new favorite past-time,? he quipped.

?Real vampires,? she thought, ?well after all I?ve seen and heard it?s possible.

The battle was winding down, the vamps were dusted and the two ?Chosen Ones? focused their attention on the demon. It was quickly defeated by a mix of Latin chanting and fighting.

?Slayers 1, Demons 0,? Buffy said.

?Well that seems to be all of them, now if we can only find the other group,? the older man said, his English accent at odds with his now scuffy look.

Snap! A twig she hadn?t seen snapped making the gang aware of her location. They all turned startled looking for her. Pulling on the hood she tensed waiting for them to make the next move.

?If it?s another one it?s mine,? Faith said running towards her.

?Fuck,? Mac thought turning and running hearing Buffy call out to Faith to wait up.

There was a third set of foot steps that she heard but she didn?t look back, they were catching up, since she didn?t use her powers.

?No time like the present for that flight,? she thought leaping into the air at a clearing just as Faith and Buffy reached her position.

The two Slayers stood in awe as they saw the figure leap into the air, sure there were super heroes in the world saving people form disasters and aliens, but they fought against the forces of hell and right now what they saw they still couldn?t believe.

?Hey Buffy,? Willow called out followed by the others, ?what happened??

?Whoever that was just flew away,? Buffy said.

?Flew?? Xander asked.

?Yeah, you know up, up, and away, flew,? Faith said still looking to the skies.

?Bloody hell!? Spike cursed, ?Now what??

?We can?t do anything,? Giles said, ?at least not until we know who we?re dealing with, but for now we have more important things to worry about, such as the new prophecy.?

?You know what Giles, one of these days I?m gonna find the guys that make all the end of the world prophecies and kick their butts!!? Buffy fumed.

They left the clearing and headed off to the opposite direction, this time the didn?t noticed the figure standing in the shodows who?s eyes glowed red. He turned and headed off campus.

Mac glanced at him seeing him clearly and not liking what she saw, she had used an old magicians trick on the two Slayers letting them see what the wanted to, her flying away, what they didn?t see was her return as she hovered behind a tree out of sight from the new hidden figure.

So much for a nice normal town.
