FF: Eternal Slayer (1/?)

Disclimers: I make no money, little of this is mine.
I can't for the life of me remember the dates on the gravestone. So I
adlibbed. Keep in mind, this is a trial run. so be kind with the
(abundandt?) feedback.

Eternal Slayer: Chapter One - Awakenings
By MacBeth

The Clouds hadn't parted since they lowered the casket. The tears
had been shed, the goodbyes spoken. Around three A.M. a shuffling in
the grave mound startled a squirrel and it ran off into the bushes.
The shuffling grew more panicked and finally after agonizing
minutes a hand rose from the dirt to grasp futilely at the air. Time
seemed to slow down as the hand grew to an arm, then a shoulder and
finally a dirt covered, gasping head rose into view. The half
submerged blonde twisted in her hole and paused at the gravestone
standing behind her. The clouds previously blocking the moonlight
parted as though on cue and exposed the words to view.

She Saved The World

A Lot.

"They? buried? me? I thought I already added dying to the "Do Not
Do" list." she moaned and slowly crawled from her grave. Taking a
moment to rest, Buffy sat against the Tombstone and caught her
breath. "How in the hell am I going to explain this one?" Hearing
footsteps approach, the blonde slayer quickly filled the hole and
crouched behind a hedgerow.
Peeking through the hedge, she saw her best friend in the world,
Willow Rosenberg. The slim redhead had obviously been crying. She
knelt beside the grave and pulled a slim leather bound book from her
jacket. `Oh gods!' Buffy thought. `That's my diary! Why does she have
my diary?' her eyes bulged. `She hasn't? Don't read it! Don't read
it! Don't read it!' The blonde in the bush mentally chanted her new
mantra as the Wicca opened the book.
"Hello Buffy. I know we just buried you this morning, but I had to
come back. Dawn asked me to pack your belongings for storage. I found
your diary in your pillowcase." Even in the moonlight Buffy could
tell she was blushing. "I did read it. In fact, I had to reread it. A
part of me is angry that you never told me. The rest of me is amazed
that you held back for so long. I came so close to telling you.
Something even Tara knew. I've been in love with you since I looked
up from the water fountain." Buffy felt faint. She closed her eyes in
agony. `Please not now. That's it, I'm coming out.' And paused as she
heard Willow talk again. "But I never told you. I'll hate myself for
never telling you. There was a moment when I was ready. And I swear I
was going to tell you. Then I saw you."
Buffy winced, `Oh no, she didn't?' Willow closed her eyes. " I saw
you and Faith in the Library during a training session." `?She did'
Buffy rubbed her temples. "At first I couldn't tear my eyes away from
your body." Willow's blush deepend, "Then you two started kissing,
and making out and I still couldn't turn away. Until that moment I
had never wanted to be Faith, and I think that's when I started to
hate her." Buffy felt a tear slide down her cheek. "It was also then
that I realized that I never had a chance with you. I honestly
thought you would never look twice at me." Buffy stayed in the bush,
paralyzed, as she contemplated her options.
"Well, I have to go Buffy. I had to come here and finally do what
I never had the nerve to do when you were? here. I will always love
you Buffy." Tears falling freely, the slim redhead reverently touched
the engraved letters of her love's name, stood and slowly walked away.
Buffy waited until the sobbing girl was away before standing from
the bushes. Deeply in shock, she never remembered walking from the
graveyard to the bus station. Sitting on a bench, she allowed her
held back tears to flow freely. `She loves me. I could have told her.
All this time and I could have?' Her internal monologue was cut short
by an incredible flash of energy that started in her stomach and
coursed through her system like lightning. She collapsed against the
seat back, until the sensation passed. Instinctively, she looked down
the deserted station terminal to a tall dark woman leaning calmly
against a support beam. She casually pulled a cutlass from her trench
coat and said in Buffy's direction. "I'm Morgan O'Cameron of Eire.
And I have no quarrel with you."
Buffy shook her head and eyed the Irishwoman closely. "Ok, first,
I'm unarmed, Second, I have no money, and Third, I thought muggers
used guns these days." Morgan paused at this response.
Slowly, ever so slowly the tall Irishwoman stalked towards the
young slayer, saber at the ready. Buffy fell into a defensive stance
and eyed her possible opponent through a Slayer's eye, her Slayer
sense tingling but for no apparent reason. Finally the older woman
stood no more than a yard from Buffy and calmly surveyed the young
blonde. Not sensing a threat, she sheathed her saber in one smooth
move. "Either you've given up on the game or have absolutely no clue
what is going on." Morgan slid onto the station bench and gestured
for Buffy to join her. Cautiously, Buffy sat. "The second option
would be a safe bet."
"What I'm about to tell you might sound bizarre and impossible,
but trust me, every word is true." Buffy couldn't help but
grin. `Where have I heard this one before??' "From the beginning of
history there have been Immortals. No one knows why we walk the
earth, only that everyone of us is a foundling."
"Um, Foundling?" Buffy interrupted.
"Adopted, my dear young girl. Now, as I was saying, All Immortals
grow as humans until there first violent death. From that moment
forth we no longer age. When we near another Immortal, we sense a
taste of what is known as The Quickening."
"That shocky kind of thing? Like the exact opposite of an Orgasm?"
Morgan looked at Buffy strangely for a moment then shook her
head. "That's a new one. It's been called everything from a really
bad case of food poisoning to early labor pains and that one came
from a Frenchman. C'mon, Let's walk a bit." Standing, Morgan guided
Buffy out of the station to a nearby diner.
