On his way up to his office Joe Dawson tried to think of different 
sources of information that he could check for anything sounding like 
the exquickening that Amanda had described the problem was that the 
Watcher's council in the past had taken great measures and gone to 
great lengths to make sure that only they had recorded information on 
the immortals.Joe looked at the screen of his computer which had the 
watcher's symbol on the screen as a screen saver and then looked at 
the picture next to the computer.In the picture was 
Joe,Duncan,Amanda,Richie,and Methos all standing together and that 
was the last time all of them had been together.Joe looked at the 
picture for a moment longer and then seeing Methos gave him an 
idea.Joe pulled a rolodex out of a drawer and he started flipping 
through the cards until he found the one that had the most recent 
date on it along with Methos's name,a phone number,and a room 
number.Joe picked up the phone and he dialed the number and a minute 
and a half a man answered and said Orleans Hotel how may i help 
you.Joe Dawson said i am trying to get in touch with an old friend of 
mine and i recently heard that he is staying in room 626.The clerk 
said can you tell me his name and Joe said well he changes name quite 
a bit but the last name i knew was Adam Pierson and then he described 
what Methos looked to the clerk.The clerk said I'm afraid i have some 
bad news for you sir your friend Adam Pierson checked out of the 
motel early yesterday morning and he didnt mention where he was 
going.Joe thanked the clerk and then hung up the phone.Joe laid his 
head on the desk and tried to think of what else he could do.A moment 
later there was a knock on the door to his office and Joe sat up 
before telling whoever it was to enter.The watcher who had brought 
him the information and pictures of Buffy and Willow that were taken 
when they were with Cassandra opened the door and walked in.The 
watcher said sir i had an idea which i think might be usefull in this 
dillema.Joe said what is your idea.The watcher said sir why dont you 
contact Buffy's watcher who is named Rupert Giles he maybe of some 
help to us because it is rumored that he knows the records of the 
others watcher's council better than almost anyone and something 
might have been accidentally left with the other council when the 
split was made.Joe looked at the watcher and he said thats highly 
unlikely but we cant afford not to take any chances so i will call 
him immedietly and he picked up the phone.The watcher said sir i 
suggest you wait until its morning there or he might not be so 
cooperative.Joe looked at a clock on the wall and he estimated what 
time it was back in California.Joe put the phone down and he said you 
are right of course.The next second the special computer printer that 
was hooked up to Joe's computer started making sounds.The watcher 
said sir it sounds like you got some pictures coming in and Joe said 
yes it does but they can wait.Joe Dawson said i am going to get me a 
cup of coffee i will be back in a minute and then he walked out of 
his office.The watcher accompanied him out of his office and then 
headed back for the archives to continue checking for the information 
that they all wanted to 
find. 

Joe went back to his office after getting a strong cup of coffee 
and for the rest of the night he waited there hoping that one of the 
watchers would soon find something in the archives.Joe Dawson was 
awakened by a watcher who had found him asleep in his desk chair and 
she said sir i brought you some coffee and she sat the cup down in 
front of him.Joe said has anyone found anything yet and the watcher 
said no i'm afraid not but we will keep looking until we do.Joe 
Dawson said i want all of you doing the research to get at least a 
six hour sleep or rest period every twenty four hours or something 
might get missed in our tired states.The female watcher said i will 
spread the news and then she walked out of his office.Another watcher 
walked into Joe's office right after she left and he said whats all 
the big search in the archives for.Joe said a number of hours ago 
Duncan McCleod suffered something which we are calling and 
exquickening.The watcher said what do you mean by that.Joe said from 
what i understand Duncan suffered a reversal quickening which means 
it came out of him but he hadnt even been fighting much less lost his 
head.The watcher said your kidding and Joe said i wish i was but i 
got it straight from Amanda who saw it happening and i also spoke to 
the watchers assigned to her and she told me the same exact 
thing. 

Wallace said sir well is there anything you want me to do for you 
and Joe said yes take a look at these pictures they are from the two 
watchers i assigned to Cassandra and i want to know who the immortals 
who are going to train Buffy Summers and Willow Rosenberg are.Wallace 
got the photos off the printer's tray where things went when they 
were completely printed and then he walked out of Joe's 
office. 

Wallace was only about fifteen feet down the hallway when he flipped 
to the next picture in the stack and he recognized Rebecca Horne 
immedietly.Wallace at first thought that there was a mistake or 
someone was playing a practical joke on him but when he saw the next 
photo which was a perfect clear shot of Rebecca Horne's face he knew 
it wasnt.Wallace flipped through the rest of the photos and he didnt 
recognize the older looking male immortal but he did recognize the 
younger one and he turned and ran back to Joe's office.When Wallace 
barged back into Joe's office he said Joe what the hell kind of trick 
are you trying to pull on me and then he tossed the pictures down on 
the desk in front of Joe.Joe looked at Wallace and he said Wallace 
what are you talking about.Wallace said Joe i dont know who the older 
immortal man in those pictures i but i do know the younger male 
immortal and the female immortal.Joe said well what are their names 
and Wallace said Joe this isnt a joke and Joe said if it is i am not 
in on it and this is no damn time for jokes as far as i am concerned. 
Wallace reached out and spread the photos a bit apart until he found 
a good one of each of the three immortals and then he laid them side 
by side in front of Joe.Wallace said the female Immortal is Rebecca 
Horne and Joe looked right at him when Wallace said that and said it 
cant be her she is dead.Wallace said i know that she is supposed to 
be dead just like Richie Ryan but according to these photos they are 
alive and well and Wallace tapped the two photos of Richie and 
Rebecca that were in front of Joe.Joe looked down at the photos and 
then he picked them up and looked at them.Joe said its impossible i 
was at Richie Ryan's funeral myself and i saw his body inside the 
coffin right before it was closed and locked.Wallace said well then 
someone is going to a lot of effort to make it look like Rebecca 
Horne and Richie Ryan are alive.Wallace said hey Joe which immortal 
took the head of the immortal who killed Rebecca.Joe said it was 
Duncan McCleod of course you should knoe that.Wallace said is it 
possible that this exquickening that Duncan suffered and the 
reappearance of Rebecca and Richie might be connected.Joe looked at 
Wallace for a second and then he said hold on a minute i am going to 
check the reports of both watchers assigned to Cassandra because they 
took those pictures while they were supposed to be following 
her. 

Joe quickly read the reports of the two watchers and then reread 
them to make sure he had read them correctly and then he brought up 
the digital pictures that were attached to one of the reports.Joe 
said Wallace come over here and look at these and Wallace walked 
behind the desk and looked at the digital pictures on the computer 
screen.Wallace said i dont believe it its true they are alive and Joe 
said it seems so but lets see exactly who the third immortal is 
supposed to be because if the theory is correct he must be someone 
either Duncan killed or the immortal Duncan killed had killed the 
Immortal previously.Joe had the computer check the digital image of 
the older looking immortal with any immortals in the watcher's 
database who are supposed to be dead and the immortal that killed him 
was killed by Duncan McCleod.A few minutes later an old sketch that 
matched the man in the digial picture and the name Juan Villa-Lobo 
Ramirez appeared down below the sketch.Wallace said sir thats the 
name of Connor McCleod's first teacher and Duncan McCleod did kill 
the immortal who killed Ramirez.Joe Dawson hit the top of his desk 
hard with a fist and said Amanda did mention that Duncan was 
mummbling about three quickenings that had been ripped out of him 
when he was concious.Wallace said well what do we do and Joe said we 
are going to do what we are supposed to and thats watch what happens 
and then he said assign a couple more watchers to Amanda and the 
others i want to know everything that happens.Wallace said what about 
Cassandra,Rebecca,and the others in Sunnydale.Joe said its too 
dangerous to send anymore watchers there so we will have to rely on 
who we already have there.Joe said Wallace i am leaving you here in 
charge i am going to go check on Duncan and then i am going to do my 
best to find Adam Pierson.Wallace said why and Joe said because he 
might have information that we dont.Joe gathered up the pictures and 
then had the printer make copies of the digital camera photos.
