Snipet: Chrono Slayer
By MacBeth
Consciousness came slowly and painfully. Buffy opened her eyes and
at first saw nothing, then slowly her vision came into focus. Sitting
up, she took in her surroundings. She was sitting in a shaft of white
light centered on a small cobblestone platform surrounded by a
wrought iron fence. On the wall in front of her was a short staircase
leading to another room. "Where... the hell...." Slowly, Buffy
regained her balance and stood. Squinting her eyes, Buffy tried to
look to the source of the light. Seeing it continue upwards into
infinity, she whispered, "This is beyond wierd..."
Looking past the fence, Buffy saw an endless field of darkness.
Hearing a very human snore, her head whipped to the stairway. Moving
as silent as her Slayer abilities permitted, she stalked down the
narrow stairway and paused at a small wooden gate. Buffy put her ear
to the gate to hear anything, and all she heard was occasional
snoring sounds. Opening the gate, she winced at the squeek of the
hinges, and stepped into a soft light.
At first, Buffy couldn't believe her eyes. In the middle of the
room stood an Elderly gentleman leaning against a lightpost, fast
asleep. Along the wall to her left, she noticed a stone arched wooden
door, while across the room, she spied a bridge that seemingly lead
to nowhere. A sparkle caught her eye and her eyes trained on a circle
of sparks dancing in one corner next to a fopuntain with a
luminescent shape glimmering on top. Across the room, near the
bridge, sat a small pedestal bearing a glowing book. "for some
reason, none of this surprises me." she mumbled to her self when
suddenly her eyes trained on the far corner and she quietly walked
closer.
Sitting in the corner, sat a huge bronze statue. It sat with it's
knees against it's chest, Titanic hands grasped the kneecaps, while a
long grey steel tube sat, bracketed to it's shoulders. The statue
appeared to be ancient, due to the thick blanket of dust settled over
it. Affixed to his (his?) chest with a slim wire was a slim rod
affixed at the top with a disk glowing dimly with an inner
radiance. "Ok... I give up..." She muttered to the statue and turned
back to the old man.
Snoring softly, he was wearing Victorian era clothing and reminded
her heavily of Giles. Poking him gently in the shoulder, she roused
him from his slumber.
That's all for now, This is what happens when you watch tapes of
Buffy while playing Chrono Trigger.
