Chapter 9

Dawn slumbered peacefully on the couch, while Tara slept restlessly on the
floor. Glory snored away as the early morning light shone through a living
room window, but the little six-year-old was no where in sight.

Leanna had woken up early like every morning for the past five years, since
she found Anna. She rekindled the fire and began work on a big breakfast
for her guests. Leanna figured she had plenty of time considering how late
Tara and Dawn had stayed up reading the books she had brought them. The only
person she knew that liked books as much as herself was Anna, and that was
because she read her a story almost every night.

The Brunette smiled at the sleeping trio and then turned around to turn on
the stove.

******

Dawn awoke to a delicious aroma, her nose awake before her eyes, "Mmmm,
what's that smell?"

"Breakfast," Tara answered, plate in hand.

"Oh, thanks. Breakfast in bed, or couch as the case may be."

"Umm, actually, this is mine. You have to get up to get yours," Tara
motioned towards the kitchen."

"Oh," Dawn said, stretching her muscles, "It was a nice thought."

"Yeah, Willow brings me breakfast in bed all the time."

"Really?"

"Yup. If you ask me though, she wakes up way to early."

Dawn couldn't contain a giggle. "But I bet it's fun?"

"Definitely. Once though, I managed to wake up even before she did and got
her breakfast in bed. She thought she was dreaming, so I had to pinch her
to convince her I was me."

"You two have a lot fun, don't you?"

"The best, that's why I can't wait to get home."

"Me too," Dawn wiped her eyes and looked around the room, "Where's Leanna
and Anna?"

"Umm, Leanna's out watering her crops. She said that Anna's probably just
wandering around the forest."

"Alone?"

"That's what I said, but Leanna assured me that Anna knows these parts
better than anyone."

"Not bad for a six-year-old."

"I know, but I still worry about her."

"Well, if she can scare Glory, I'd say she's pretty okay."

"True," Tara replied, finishing off her scrambled eggs. Normally she would
have had them sunny-side up, but Leanna had already made them and she didn't
want to seem ungrateful to the woman who had taken them in.

"So you think Psycho's ever gonna wake up?" Dawn looked at the sleeping
Hell God.

"Hope so, there's still so much more she hasn't experienced as a human,"
Tara laughed.

******
Glory awoke, her eyes bleary and body aching. The first and only face she
saw was Anna's. The little girl was standing right next to her, staring.

"What do you want Squirt?"

Anna stood there and smiled.

Glory ran her hand through her hair and stopped cold once she felt the bone,
"Oh no, what the Hell did you do to me you little demon child?"

Glory frantically looked for a mirror, but there weren't any in sight. "I
can't believe this, I can't believe this, I'm growing a freakin' horn."

Glory ran around the room and through an open door. Inside she found a
mirror.

"What the." The Blonde tore the bone from her hair.

Anna stood just inside the open doorway and giggled.

"Are you trying to give me a heart attack? It's not bad enough that I got
burnt by that witch, but now you're shoving bones in my hair?"

"You're funny," Anna laughed as she pointed at the steaming Hell God.

"Oh, I'll teach ya funny."

Glory took off after the little girl as Anna ran screaming out of the house.

******

"A Wha." The Slayer slurred.

"A 'Kiss-Me' face?" Willow asked again. "You know, something that says I
wanna be kissed by you only without Marilyn Monroe's voice?"

"I. uh."

Willow waited anxiously as her best friend struggled to voice her answer.

"Just.uh."

"Okay, not very coherent today."

"Well, it's just that. uh."

"Uh huh," Willow nodded. "I dunno, maybe you're the wrong person to be
asking, but it's just that Tara said I had a 'Kiss-Me' face and since you're
the one that's been around us the most, I figured you might have noticed
something that I haven't. Make sense?"

"Sense? Right, sense?"

"Yeah, sense. Remember how Tara and I use to always leave you and Riley
alone cuz you two wanted to."

"Oh yeah, with the. yeah."

"Come to think of it, I don't ever remember you leaving when Tara and I
wanted to."

Buffy's eyes widened, remembering the time she had insisted on staying over.

"We should probably call it a night," Willow yawned, plopping down on the
edge of her bed.

"Night? What Night? There's still plenty of light left," Buffy argued.

"That's moonlight," Tara replied.

"Same diff," Buffy countered.

"Yeah, but Tara and I have had a long day," Willow pleaded.

"Long schmong. I know what we could do," Buffy said, her eyes lighting up,
"Monopoly!"

"We don't have Monopoly," Willow lied.

"Yes you do pants on fire," Buffy headed towards Willow and Tara's closet,
opened it up and pulled out the old Monopoly board she had given her.

"Oh yeah, Monopoly," Willow stated, letting her back fall flat onto the bed.

Tara sat down next to Willow and took her hand.

Willow gave Tara the 'I'm sorry look,' while Buffy busily set up the board
on the ground.

"Okay Sleepy," Buffy got up, went over to Willow and pulled her up by the
hand, forcing Tara to let go of her grip, "Time for you to do the banking."

"Banking?" Willow grumbled, "Why do I always have to be the Banker?"

"Cuz, you're good with numbers and I'm good with miniature models of hotels,
houses and fake leases," Buffy replied.

"Umm, what do I do?" Tara asked, raising a hand.

"You can be the one that makes sure Willow doesn't cheat us out of moolah,"

"Hey! I resent that."

"Oh? What about August 10th, 2000?"

"That was a slight miscalculation."

"Sure, in your favour."

"Umm, I don't think we have to worry about Willow cheating," Tara chimed in,
"I mean, she gets all guilt-trippy when she finds a dollar on the ground."

Buffy laughed out loud.

Willow turned to look at Tara, "You never know when the person could come
back and use that dollar to make an emergency phone call."

"That's what 911 is for," Tara said, sitting down next to Willow on the
ground around the game board."

Willow turned her head away from Tara, "Nobody gets me."

"Aww, Honey, I get you," Tara soothed, wrapping her arm around the Redhead's
waist, pulling her in and kissing Willow on the cheek.

Buffy averted her eyes and pretended to read one of the leases.

"No you don't," Willow stated.

"Yes. I. do," Tara said in between the kisses she gave Willow on her rosy
cheeks. "You care about people, sometimes too much, but you care, right?"

Willow smiled, turned and kissed Tara on lips, "Exactly."

Buffy kept her eyes down, shuffling the yellow cards, the sound of the two
Wiccans kissing causing her to swallow hard.

"Buffy?" Willow questioned.

"Yeah?" The Slayer's head popped up.

"Wanna play?" Willow said seductively.

"What?"

"I said, you okay?" Willow shook the daydreaming Slayer some more.

"Oh, yeah, fine, just thinking," Buffy smiled.

"That was a pretty long think period."

"Sorry, you know me, Buffy brain cramp."

"So did you finally figure out the answer to my question?"

"What question was that again?" Buffy asked, hoping that the question she
had in mind was a part of the daydream.

"Do I have a 'Kiss-Me' face?'"

"Yeah, you have it on all the time," Buffy answered quickly, her mouth
acting before her brain.

"Really?"

"Not that I want to kiss you all the time, it's just that Tara, right, Tara
you see, she's always kissing you, so I assume you must have it on all the
time."

"Hmm. I guess you're right," Willow shrugged her shoulders.

Buffy breathed a sigh of relief.

To be continued.
