OT: Buffy gets screwed at the Emmys

Well, as some of you may be aware, the 2001 Primetime Emmy Award nominations
were announced July 12th. For most of us, the day passed uneventfully. Recent
commercials, congratulating shows on their nominations, prompted me to check the
list of nominations.

There was a campaign to get "The Body" nominated for Outstanding Writing for a
Drama Series. You know who actually got the nominations. One went to The West
Wing for the S1 ending/S2 opening episodes. I have no problem with that, I
enjoy the show immensely and the writing was superb. The other four nominations
were divided between The Sopranos, The Sopranos, The Sopranos, and The
Sopranos. No, I'm not kidding. For the fifth year, Buffy has once again been
given not one nomination.

Outstanding Drama Series considerations are West Wing, Sopranos (both top notch
shows), The Practice, ER (both of which had mediocre seasons at best), and Law &
Order.
Outstanding Supporting Actress (Drama) went to Maura Tierney (ER), Tyne Daily
(Judging Amy), Aida Turturro (Sopranos), Stockard Channing and Allison Janney
(both of West Wing). Where is Alyson Hannigan in that? Stockard Channing (as
good as she is) was barely on the show! She had more interim appearances than
you could shake a stick at, but because her name is in the credits they bump
Aly!
Outstanding Supporting Actor (Drama) went to West Wing (3) or Sopranos (2). Um,
James Marsters ring a bell at all?

Is it me, or does it seem like The Academy is trying to kiss someone's ass
here? There were more travesties of justice; if you want to check them out,
here's the link.
