PROPHECY?S TWILIGHT: FOLLOWING OF THE ROSE

Chapter 2: From the Ashes

To say that June Xare Rosenberg-Summers was mildly irritated would not
have been a good idea if one was concerned for ones health. The young
human was a ball of seething rage most of it focused on her mentor. He
had showed up in full glory, practically kicking down the library door
and then proceeding to dragging her onto the training fields outside the
city. Once there she had been handed a standard officers´ uniform, far
too brown and dull for her tastes, and told that her training would now
begin. Then the hell spit known as Spike has went on his merry way,
leaving her with her drill sergeant; a very delicate looking, but highly
lethal female elf named Lor?a.
?I am Lor?a,? she said with a bow.
?June Xare,? June answered with a bow as she ran a mantra
through her mind, mostly things to do Spike, but it help calm her in a
weird way. She decided that it would be a good idea to evaluate her
teacher, since she would be facing her soon.
?Let?s get you a sword shall we,? Lor?a said as she motioned
for June to follow her towards the weapons rack. ?An officer must be
proficient with all forms of weaponry, but none more then the sword,?
she explained as she did some measurements.
Lor?a was tall for an elf, with boyish cut curly hair and almond shaped
brown eyes that could probably bring many a man to his knees. She wore
the same brown uniform as June, a hose and a smock with a hood. The far
most notable things about her though being the massive sword she carried
on her back.
?I have had some training with swords,? June said.
Lor?a just looked up from her selecting and smiled a sly smile before
handing June without doubt the largest piece of forged metal June had
ever seen.
?Nothing like this I hope?? the elf asked. ?Now hold it
straight,? she ordered.
?I was told that elves used delicate and light swords,? June
muttered as she struggled slightly to raise the sword. It was a simple
sword, double-handed and double edged, with a simple cross guard, but
nearly five feet long.
?Small swords are good for dueling yes, but we will be going
into open plains combat,? Lor?a said as she pulled her sword from her
back. ?Now follow my movements,? she ordered.
For the next four grueling hours June copied Lor?a movements, her arms
ached and she couldn?t remember if she had been through worse. She
didn?t give up through, she was a Summers, or a Rosenberg, either way
Summers don?t quit and Rosenbergs endure.
?You did well,? Lor?a said when they were both lying on the
grass sharing tea and watching the clouds role over the afternoon sky.
?Almost dropped the sword twice,? June said as she sipped
the rose red tea, leaving her lips red in the process.
?You did better the most to on their first day, but then
again those are young noble boys pushed along by their father?s wealth
or power,? Lor?a said with a grin.
?How do you know I wasn?t pushed through?? June asked with a
raised eyebrow.
?You are the daughter of General Summers,? Lor?a answeredif
that explained everything. ?How did you?.? June asked with wide
eyes.
?I fought at Necris and I saw you mother in action, also you
bare a striking resemblances, no doubt she trained you since you could
barely walked,? Lor?a said with a laugh.
?Yeah she did,? June said with a smile. ?So you are not
curious about??
?How you came to be here?? Lor?a asked. ?Not the least,
elves are used to strange things,? she said. ?Though I dearly hope they
don?t come stranger then you,? she added.
?Oh no danger of that,? June said with a giggle. ?But there
is Spike,? she added as an after thought.
?Come on time for the next lesson,? Lor?a said and jumpedto
her feet with a catlike grace.
?More ?fencing??? June asked as she got to her feet.
?No, ridding,? Lor?a said with a grin.
?Ugh I bet mom didn?t have to go through all this,? June
muttered. Still compared to June, her mother had a far more interesting
day a head of her.

It was a determined General that made her way through the Alliance
building towards the stairs leading into the Red Mage?s study and the
far end of the complex. She had the firm resolve of dragging her wife
back from the emotional slum she was in. It was beautiful summer?s day
and the sun was shinning. The countryside surrounding Larken was dotted
with tents and every so often one would see a group of soldiers being
drilled. She had just returned from her morning drills, still gleaming
with sweat, but feeling very much alive Yet her fierce look and sense
of purpose didn?t stop people from stopping her, much to her own
charging. The first was Spike, wisely instead of stopping feel into
stride next to her.
?Hello luv, busy?? he asked with a grin as his eyes did a
once over of her body.
?Spike, go, away,? Buffy said firmly.
?In a sec Slayer, but I bring news,? Spike said.
?Then spit it out,? Buffy asked.
?I enlisted June in the army,? he said and covered his head.
?That?s got, she an officer yet?? Buffy asked.
?No, but talk to me tomorrow and I?ll probably be calling
her general,? Spike said.
?Funny you saying she?s her mother?s daughter?? Buffy asked.
?Very much so,? Spike said and turned at the next corner.
The next being to cross her path was King Einar, the ruler of the clan
Thunderfoot, his legs pumped furiously as he tried to keep pace with
her.
?Ya look ya have a mission,? the dwarf king asked in his
good humored voice.
?You could say that,? Buffy answered.
?Da wife?? the king asked.
?Who else?? Buffy asked.
?Aha women, more trouble den their worth if ya ask me,? the
king said.
?You have three,? Buffy stated.
?Heirs lass, heirs,? the king answered.
?Anything else?? Buffy asked.
?Juts good luck,? the king said and wandered of in the
general direction of the kitchens.
The third indivutal to cross the General?s path was Cordelia, the ranger
knight finally emerging from her wife?s chambers in what seemed like
day.
?Going to see Willow?? Cordelia asked as she floated beside
Buffy. Unaware of her doing so.
?You getting some?? Buffy asked.
?It show?s doesn?t it?? Cordelia asked with a blush.
?Sure does space cadet,? Buffy answered and Cordelia blushed
even more as her feet touched the ground.
?Anything you need to say that can?t wait?? Buffy asked.
?Aside from whether you want a burial or cremation? nope,?
Cordelia said as she turned quickly at the next corner.

Buffy muttered curses as she climbed the stairs leading up the mage
tower and her wife?s study. She entered Willow?s study without knocking
and came to dead stop as her brain suddenly stopped working, as it
should. Before her stood Willow, her wife or at least she hoped to god
this was her wife and that she hadn?t entered the wrong study, wearing a
thin and form hugging white robe. Her long red hair had been cut pixie
short and somehow dyed so it had golden streaks running through it. Her
eyes shone like twin emeralds they had about them a sparkle of life that
had not been there since the battle of the Tower and a mischievous grin
graced her lips that had been colored with same golden hue that streaked
her hair. She looked younger somehow as if the last ten years had been
noting but an illusion.
?Buffy,? she said in a light voice and ran towards her.
Wrapping her arms around her wife?s neck and looking into her eyes. ?You
like?? she asked and pressed her body closer to Buffy?s, making Buffy?s
white training smock glue to her chest. ?What cat got your tongue??
Willow asked as she licked her wife?s lips. ?Let me see if I can help
you find,? she said and kissed her.
Buffy felt herself melt into her wife?s arms. This was different then
before, it reminded her of what it had been like long ago. Bringing her
hands that had been clamped against her sides up she started running
them through Willow?s now short hair, then letting them trail down her
back and coming to rest on her firm ass and that snapped her back to
reality. Willow the last time they?d been together, before the battle of
the Tower, hadn?t been firm, well not like this. Pulling back from the
edge and taking a deep breath to get her raging emotions under control
she held Willow had arms length. Willow looked every bit the seductress
of her dreams, her aural and nipples visible to the sweat soaked
material of her robe and the outline of her triangle was clearly
visible. She wasn?t in much better shape her white shirt clung to her
and her hose felt damp in all the wrong places.
?We need to talk,? she said with her voice shaking a bit.
?You don?t like?? Willow asked with a pout.
?Oh I like very, very, very much,? Buffy said. ?But this is
a bit sudden and well no offense that last time I checked you were??
?A cationic wreck on the verge of my nineteenth nervous
breakdown, yes I know,? Willow said. ?What happened then?? Buffy
asked as she once again stepped closer let her arms encircled Willow?s
waist and rested her head on Willow?s shoulder.
?Well I got tired of being helpless,? Willow said as she
started stroking Buffy?s blond hair. ?I?m still young and I?m not ready
to just give up,? she explained. ?I want to be the Willow you and Spike
remember from before this whole mess.?
?But ten years isn?t something you can just put behind you,?
Buffy stated.
?Yes it is, you can always go back Buffy, always,? Willow
stated. ?The Alliance thinks I?m unfit to lead them, that I have grown
old and reclusive, but I intend to proof them wrong,? she said as an
edge came to her voice.
?But the change?? Buffy asked.
?What the big pillowing robes and long angry red hair??
Willow asked and smiled. ?It?s not like I have anything to hide,? she
added. ?Do you think I have anything to hide?? she asked. ?Anymore
questions?? she asked and started nibbling at Buffy?s earlobe.
?How?? Buffy asked as she moaned at the attention.
?Magic and persistence,? Willow said. Buffy just smiled as
she started moving them towards the large desk that adorned the study.
?Wha?? Willow shouted as Buffy swept the contents of the table down onto
the floor and pushed Willow onto it with a smile on her face. Time to
explore this new Willow.

Ziel Grey, priestess to the God of War and Fire, was enjoying a rare
moment of peace and quiet. She had gotten many visitations over the last
few days from soldiers and officers alike coming to her asking for her
blessings, there were other priest and priestess of course, but none at
quite the same effect the on the common soldier as she did. She had
found the bath?s of the city and was now enjoying its warm water. Her
white robes lay neatly folded on a nearby chair and every so often a
chambermaid would come and add a pitcher of warm water if needed. A
thick steam almost obscured all sight in the room.
?This is nice,? she muttered to herself.
?Sure is,? a new voice said as somebody slid into the bath
next to her. She smelt like weapon oil, leather, grass and horses.
?Is there room,? a third voice asked and Ziel magical senses
flared at the new arrivals.
?Cordelia?? Ziel asked.
?Ziel,? Cordelia said a cheerful voice as she slit into her
bath.
?Aunt Chase?? the third voice asked.
?June,? Cordelia stated.
?The one and only,? June answered with a grin.
?So anybody else here?? Cordelia asked and splashing could
be heard as she turned and twisted in the bath.
?Just some royalty,? a fourth voice said. ?Take no notice.?
?Mother in law,? Cordelia said with a giggle.
?It?s nice to see you are enjoying your stay Cordelia,?
Piratess said.
?I would bow if anybody could see me,? June said and
splashes could be heard.
?Don?t bother child,? Piratess said.
?So how are things on the home fronts?? Ziel asked.
?Stjar?a asleep,? Cordelia said with a giggle that June
shared, but Piratess just sighed.
?What?s the matter Tessa, Grimm too busy?? Cordelia asked.
?Ambassador Grimm is always busy,? Piratess stated. ?But
never so that he doesn?t make time for his duties as consort that is,?
she added with a smirk.
?June how fares Prince Blood?? Ziel asked with an innocent
smile.
?I? he? we?? June flustered.
?It?s alright kiddo, don?t let the mean old priestess scare
you,? Cordelia said.
?I am not old!? Ziel stated firmly. ?Just unfulfilled that?s
all,? she added and another burst of giggles broke out.
?Maybe Prince Blood would be willing to assist with that
problem,? Piratess said.
?Hey!? June shouted, but then blushed and sank up to her
nose in the water.
?Some people have all the luck, what I wouldn't give for
being able to stay that firm without all the effort involved,? Cordelia
said with a sigh.
?He certainly does have some? admirable attributes,? Ziel
said.
?Come on you can say it priestess,? Cordelia teased. ?So
what is his most ?admirable? feature?? she asked.
?His eyes,? Piratess stated. ?So full of barely contained
lust for battle,? she said.
?His buttocks,? Ziel squeaked and then sank into the water.
?No it?s his chest,? June piped in. ?Hard and with skinyou
just want to? oops,? she said.
?My, my, my I think somebody is growing up,? Cordelia said.
?What about you Cordelia?? Piratess asked.
?Sorry no commend, for starters he?s the wrong gender,?
Cordelia said with a triumphant smile.
?Want about Al?x? Aunt Chase?? June asked with a mischievous
grin.
?Oh that such along time age and I couldn?t possibly? his
shoulders defently,? Cordelia blurted.
?Ever see him in that armor of his?? Ziel asked with a
dreamy look. ?If he wasn?t bonded to Joyce he would have had no place to
hide,? she said with a small smirk and her ears twitched.
?Ziel!? Cordelia exclaimed. ?Priestess aren?t supposed to
think like that!? she stated.
?Why not, I?m still half human the last time I checked,?
Ziel stated.
?And half elf don?t forget that, it?s were all the fun comes
from,? Piratess added.
?Hey!? both June and Cordelia exclaimed in unison.
?Humans are fun do, but nothing can replace a couple of
hundred years of experience and we?re more agile anyway,? Piratess
stated with an uncharacteristic pout.
?Says the Drow Queen that snared the Human Thief,? Cordelia
said defiantly and crossed her arms over her chest.
?Says the Human Ranger who married the Elf Ranger,? Piratess
fired back.
?As much as I enjoy this minor tribute to my god, it would
not be smart to have two of the member of the Drow royal family brawling
at the local baths,? Ziel in said in a calm voice.
?Yeah, I can?t speak from experience, but elves can?t be
that different from humans can they?? June asked.
?There are some subtle differences,? Ziel said.
?The ears!? Cordelia exclaimed. ?Nipple or tickle an elf on
the tip of the ears and you?ll get response for sure,? she explained.
?Ahem!? Piratess cleared her throat.
?Sorry, June forget I just said that,? Cordelia said.
?Already gone,? June said.
The large bell in the Alliance building rang, signaling that the
evenings meal was drawing closer these were semi-formal events for some
obscure reason which meant they had to get out of the warm water, dry
themselves of and make themselves presentable. Ahead lay a night of
political intrigue, romance and the occasional brawl.
