Re: Anne-Lise's Snippets (Edition 12)

Its funny, but I dislocated my shoulder on the weekend. The hospital
gave me dyhydracodeine to take the pain away, but with the 90mg doses
I'm on, I'm tranked up to the eyeballs. I'm probably writing the most
whacked-out crazy stuff I've ever managed to jot down. (Truly, my
arms are falling off, or so it seems) but even so, you want more.

*shakes her head*

Maybe I'm doing something right...

Anne-Lise.

First there were the dresses. I wanted to wear an identical dress
to Buffy, same design I mean, and she thought it'd be kinda nice. So
we went through all the books and stores and we ended up choosing
English-style wedding dresses with lace veils. Seeing Buffy in her
wedding dress took my breath away, and by the hungry look in her
eyes, she was mentally removing me from mine.
Anya arranged for the catering and music, having gone through the
whole rigmarole herself not long back when Xander tied the knot with
her. She's changed a lot the last year, become a whole lot more
sociable and friendly. I can almost like her. Almost.
The rings took us quite awhile to sort out, but it was kinda fun
explaining we were a couple to each of the jewellers. I still love
the shock value and the calculating look in their eyes, as if they're
evaluating the loss to Mankind. They make me laugh that way.
The rings we decided on were Turkish, white gold entwined with pure
gold, a symbolism special to the both of us. Buffy even went through
the process of engagement again so that she could slip on my ring
properly. I guess that's also why I love her... She always thinks
about others, the little things as well as the big.
We'd planned to marry at the Baptist church where a friend of Giles
was a minister, but with the weather so mild and perfect we changed
the venue to Giles' garden. Buffy hates to spend time in or near
graveyards... She has too many memories there and can't feel
comfortable.
The kiss was perfect. The moment the words, "Brides, you may now
kiss each other." were out, Buffy's lips locked onto mine and time
slowed in the way it always does for a couple in love. And so we were
married, in every way acknowledgeable except in California, and who
gives a fuck what they think? We weren't getting married for them.
Buffy's eyes sparkled as I signed my name. Okay, it wasn't a
marriage register, but a court document legally altering my name to
Willow Summers. To me, though, there was little difference. After an
hour of toasting and merriment, Giles ushered our other friends and
guests inside and gave us some peace. And there amongst the garden
tools and barbecue set, we finally consummated our marriage. Unlike
other couples who get the whole night with each other, Buffy's nights
are spent doing her job. Sometimes she even gets homework and
overtime; but I knew the whole deal when I signed on. I love her for
who she is not what she does. I hope she knows that.
Especially now we're together.
