Re: FIC: I Understand

*grins* sorry about the defensiveness...I've been having to protect my ideas about writing on several fronts the last two days.

And thank you for the positive comments, Nathan -- I'm glad you're enjoying the 'Path' series.

I don't think Kris was trying to say you were wrong, or anything,
Alan, I've just been trying to get people to generally discuss the
style in which a perspective piece ought to be written - to reiterate,
I believe we've moved on :-). In other news, I've been reading more of
Path of Tears/Thorns lately, Alan, and I gotta just say: "Awesome!"
You do incredible work with characters and emotions; in just a few
short pages, you've gotten me to sympathize with Nathan (oddly enough
<g>), Beth, Natalie, and Alex, to... feel some modicum of what they
must be feeling as they go about their lives. You are really good at
this writing stuff, man :-).

My 2 cents worth:  IMO, imagery isn't very
important, at least to me, in perspective pieces.
If there had been more imagery in the "I
Understand" fic, I probably would've just skimmed
it anyway.  I was so engrossed in what Buffy was
thinking and feeling that much of anything else
might have gotten in my way of enjoying or
understanding it.

I'm wondering, though, if the fact that I've
actually seen the episode referenced in "I
Understand" plays a part in my not caring so much
about the imagery?  But I'm sure that even if I
hadn't seen the episode; the bare minimum of
imagery, etc., is all that I personally need or
want in a perspective piece.

Hope that helps and isn't clear as mud.

Kris

I agree completely...my comments were more
generalized based on what I have <BR>
read overall -- it was somethings I saw in his
latest part of 'Straight <BR>
Through the Heart' that inspired most of my comments.
