About eight o'clock in the morning a helicopter landed about a 
hundred yards from the ski resort.Jill,Grace,and several other people 
exited the helicopter.After getting their tote or duffel bags they 
headed over to the ski resort to check in before getting to work.

Natalie was making an early report to Lieutenant Forrest on the 
preliminary examination she had given to the twelve bodies she was 
planning to autopsy today.Sgt.Dover who had met Jill and the others 
at the entrance to the ski lodge led them over to Lieutenant Forrest 
and Natalie.Sgt.Dover said Lieutenant Forrest the assistants and 
other forensics experts have arrived.Lieutenant Forrest and Natalie 
turned to look at the new people and Natalie couldnt believe her eyes 
when she saw Jill and Grace.Natalie called out their names and she 
said what are you two doing here.Lieutenant Forrest said I arranged 
for your assistants to come up here and help you out like you 
suggested yesterday.Natalie thanked Lieutenant Forrest and then she 
said come on you two we have a lot of work ahead of us.Natalie walked 
out of the ski resort and headed for the trailer where she worked and 
Jill and Grace followed her.

As they were following Natalie over to the trailer Jill looked over 
at Grace and said do you think we should tell her.Grace looked at 
Jill and she said it might be better to tell her now so that we can 
help her keep the situation under wraps.Jill said i agree with you 
but when should we do it.Grace said lets do it inside the trailer but 
before we get to work.

When Jill and Grace entered the trailer they saw Natalie washing up 
getting ready to perform the first autopsy of the day.Jill made sure 
the door was tightly shut so no one would be able to hear what their 
conversation.Jill nodded to Grace and Grace took a couple steps 
forward before saying Natalie me and Grace need to talk to you about 
something before we get to work.Natalie looked at them and she said 
go ahead I'm listening.Jill said Natalie we know about 
Nick,Lacroix,and Toronto's community that only comes out at 
night.Natalie whirled around to face Jill and Grace shocked by what 
Jill had said.Grace said yes Natalie we all know about vampires and 
that it was vampires who massacred all the people here with the 
exception of the four children who hid themselves between two 
walls.Natalie yelled how the hell do you know that i only told Nick 
and the enforcers who came here about that.Jill said we were told 
about it last night by Nick and Michelle like everybody else that 
were at the Raven last night.Natalie what the fuck were you two doing 
at the Raven last night and how dare Nick let you get involved in 
this just because of me.Not waiting for an answer Natalie pulled out 
her cellular phone and she hit memory and three button which 
automatically dialed the number for Nick's loft.Grace said Natalie 
what are you doing and Natalie said I'm calling Nick because i am 
going to give him one hell of a piece of my mind.Jill said why are 
you going to give him a piece of your mind.Natalie said because that 
bastard Lacroix brought you into this because your my assistants and 
Nick just stood by and let him.

The next second Nick answered the phone and Natalie yelled how could 
you just stand there and let it happen Nick.Nick said Natalie what 
are you talking about.Natalie said you allowed that Bastard Lacroix 
to bring in my two assistants into this mess without even trying to 
stop him.Natalie would have continued on but Jill grabbed a hold of 
her arm and took the cellular phone away from her.Jill said Nick i am 
afraid that Natalie jumped to the wrong conclusion me and Grace are 
up here with her and we are trying to tell her the truth about 
ourselves.Nick conclusion did she jump to.Jill said one where Lacroix 
brought me and Grace into this mess because we are Natalie's 
assistants.Nick said i understand and then he said Jill it might be 
better if i tell her about you and Grace she might accept it better 
from me.Jill said ok and then she said Natalie Nick wants to talk to 
you.

Natalie took the cellular phone and she said Nick you had better 
have a good explanation for this Nick.Nick said Natalie i want you to 
be quiet and just listen to what i have to say and its not going to 
be easy for you to accept.Natalie said should i sit down and Nick 
said yes you should.Natalie sat down and she said ok go ahead.Nick 
said Natalie there are different types of vampires the type me and my 
kind are are called Nightwalkers.Natalie said Nightwalkers and Nick 
said yes it describes that we can only come out at night.Nick said 
there are two other common types of vampires and they are called 
demon vampires and kindred.Nick said the demon vampires are soulless 
creatures who have no remorse and kill not only to feed but for the 
fun of it.Natalie said let me guess the ones who killed the people up 
here were demon vampires.Nick said yes they are but the enforcers are 
still going after them because they may expose the fact that vampires 
really exist.Natalie said what about the kindred what are they 
like.Nick said the kindred are comprised of different clans and each 
clan is somewhat different from the others.Jill said kindred vampires 
can go out in daylight if they have fed properly.Natalie looked at 
Jill and she said Jill how do you know about Kindred vampires.Nick 
said Natalie both Jill and Grace are kindred.Natalie yelled what and 
then she turned so she could look at both Jill and Grace at the same 
time.Natalie said your both kindred and Jill said yes i am of the 
Tremere clan and Grace is of the Arborean clan.Natalie said Nick how 
long have you known they were vampires and why didnt you tell 
me.Grace said Natalie he didnt know we were kindred until last night 
when we showed up.Nick said its true Natalie and they even had 
devices on a chain that they wore under their shirts which simulated 
the sound of a heart beat.Natalie said I'm sorry i yelled at you Nick 
and Nick said its ok i should have called you last night and told you 
but i figured you had already asleep by the time i got away from the 
Raven.Natalie said goodbye to Nick and hung up the phone.

Natalie looked at Jill and Grace and she said how long have you two 
known about me and Nick.Grace said i found out about Nick after he 
was brought in after the pipebomb he jumped on.Jill said she told me 
the next day and we were going to put the kindred version of the 
whammy on you when Nick showed up as a police detective.Grace said me 
and Jill decided to wait to see what he would do but we were ready to 
intervene if he tried to hurt you in the slightest.Natalie said you 
would have stopped him and Jill said yes you are a good friend of 
ours and we believed you could be trusted which you have proven 
admirably time and time again.Natalie said you know about the 
research i was doing dont you.Jill said yes there is little about 
what you and Nick did that we dont know about.Natalie said have you 
told anyone about what i was doing.Jill said we told the conclaves 
who are the leaders of the kindred in Ottawa and London and sent word 
to the elders.Natalie was taken back for a few moments and she said i 
thought the elders wouldnt want anyone not a vampire to do such 
research.Jill said they made an exception in your case because you 
proved you could be trusted and they thought that such research might 
come in handy in case some manmade disease or virus was created which 
could affect vampires.Natalie said like the plague several years ago 
and Grace said exactly.Natalie said I'm afraid that the information 
in my note book that i keep locked up in the drawer is a year out of 
date.Grace said what do you mean.Natalie said over a year ago and a 
half ago i was about to take the notebook home so i could write some 
information on the tests and results i had performed in the three 
months prior when i noticed that the contents of the drawer had been 
moved.Jill said what and she looked over at Grace and she said did 
you move the contents of the dresser around.Grace said no i didnt i 
only took the notebook and put it back exactly like it had 
been.Natalie said was all the books stacked together along one side 
of the drawer with the notebook about a third of the way from the 
back.Grace said no the books were all over the drawer which made me 
suspicious at the time because you ussually kept it so neat.Jill said 
Natalie do you have any idea of who could have done it and Natalie 
said no i dont.Natalie said well like i was saying i took the book 
home but instead of writing all the results into the notebook i only 
wrote the the results for the tests i performed in two of the weeks 
in the first month.Jill said how many months of test results do you 
have that we havent seen.Natalie said about ten months worth and you 
two might as well start looking over the information at night while 
we are here.Grace said you brought the information with you and 
Natalie said i dont let it out of my grasp anymore.Natalie said the 
discs are over in the cd bag next to the radio some of them are 
computers discs and some are cd discs which i recorded information 
onto.Jill said thanks for telling us and we will look over the 
information at night like you suggested.Natalie said you can use my 
laptop or radio whichever you prefer.Grace said its better if we use 
the laptop that way no one will be able to hear it.

Jill said Natalie i have something to tell you but i am not sure 
you are going to like it at all.Natalie said go ahead.Jill said the 
elders of the nightwalkers have approved a petition that you be 
brought into the community.Natalie said actually i will be an 
enforcer not a member of the community.Grace said you know and 
Natalie said yes Michelle told me last night.Jill said i would have 
thought you would be angry about it.Natalie said well i really dont 
have much choice its either be turned or die and with the deal the 
elders have offered me i would have accepted being turned in a 
heartbeat.Jill said what was their offer.Natalie said the elders want 
a special unit like the ones police and other law enforcement groups 
use to solve kidnappings and catch serial killers in the enforcers 
and i am to be one of the members of the unit.Grace said a special 
squad of enforcers and Jill said it makes sense and these massacres 
have certainly drove the point home.Natalie said i will also get to 
be with Nick without any interference from Lacroix and Nick will also 
be part of his team.Jill said because of the skills he has picked up 
as a detective right.Natalie said yes exactly and by the way i could 
think of nothing better than to have my two assistants as part of the 
team as well.Jill said what and Natalie said come on think about it 
it would be best if the nightwalkers and kindred shared the 
unit.Grace thought a second and she said Natalie is right and it 
would be a way to ensure that the world doesnt find out about 
vampires.Jill said your right but i dont know if the elders would 
agree to it.Natalie said well lets ask them.Grace said Natalie we 
dont know how to contact them only the elders do.Natalie said 
actually i do too.Jill said how and Natalie said Michelle gave me a 
phone with a number preprogrammed into it that can be used to call 
the elders.Grace said does it tell you the number and Natalie said no 
and it doesnt beep or ring so you cant figure out the number by 
listening it to it dial.Jill said lets call and ask and Grace said 
yes lets.Natalie reached into the pocket of her coat and she pulled 
out the wrist cellular phone and the headset.Natalie pressed the 
button to put her through to the elders after putting on the 
headset.When the phone was answered an elder said what group is this 
and what do you have to report.Natalie said elders this is Natalie 
Lambert again and i have a request that i would like you to think 
about.An elder said what is the request.Natalie said my request is 
that you consider making the unit open to the kindred as well.An 
elder said why should we do that.Natalie said both nightwalkers and 
kindred will benefit from a team consisting of vampires from both 
groups who are to investigate scenes like the massacres and keep them 
under wraps.A female elder said are you thinking about your two 
assistants who are kindred perhaps.Natalie said yes i am and they are 
a perfect example because they have been working between the 
enforcers and the kindred.An elder said we will think about your 
request and then the phone was hung up.
