OT: Checking in
In LA,
All things that could become targets have closed. The Airport,
Disneyland and other theme parks, movie studios, the big malls (the
horror!), the Latin Grammys which were to be at the Forum tonight. Also
the Emmys have been postponed, so we'll have to wait to find out who
benefitted from Joss being screwed out of what is rightfully his for
writing/directing "The Body". Also, Acting Mayor Padilla says the
police will institute identity checks and other semi-fascist security
measures in certain parts of town. Not where I live, but chilling
anyway.
If my dad hadn't once, way back when, been screwed out of a job with the
NY Department of Insurance (his dad had sold his house to the head of
the NY Democratic party, who was being investigated by the Republicans;
dad's job was a political casualty), he might have been working in the
Trade Center (where the offices were then, and presumably still were,
until today). I'm just sorry I never visited the buildings when I lived
in NY, but of course, nobody goes sight-seeing in their hometown.
Goodbye, Windows on the World (the top floor restaurant).
BTW, I found out about the attacks from Kimber's email. First thing in
the morning, I clean out the inbox. This was the last thing I expected
to find.
Bush better get his ass back to DC, pronto. I don't care what the
Secret Service is worried about, being President is not about hiding.
I'm already sick of the talk about finding the people responsible. This
isn't about the few dozen people who helped plan it, it was an attack in
support of advancing the Palestinian cause. So let's disavow the Oslo
accords and have Israel reoccupy the West Bank. Bye-bye Palestinian
state. If you make a "Land for Peace" deal, then no peace means no
land. Reset, back to 1992.
May as many people as possible be safe, and may the friends and
relatives of the victims find the strength to survive their ordeal.
