OT: American Tragedy

These are the thoughts of Harley Quinn, the Cordynwillow listmom. I
thought my other lists might like to see it.

As I'm sure everyone knows the World Trade Center & the Pentagon were
attacked today. I would like to encourage everyone to donate blood for the
victims and to share this message of grief. Please pass this message on to
any other person or group that would be interested. Thousands of people have
died. Their deaths can't go unavenged, the bastards that did this have to be
hunted down like rabid dogs. My condolences & prayers to anyone in the
NY/DC/Pittsburgh areas. Please read this testimony & pass it on.

Never 9/11/2001

This is the worst thing that has ever happened in my life & is probably the
worst that will ever happen in my life. Of course I have views on it. The
entire nation's been hit.

Giuliani is talking right now & he has no clue how many people are dead.

He says it's in the thousands.

There are currently rescue efforts to get any survivors as I type this. There
are apparently a group of survivors in the basement of the WTC.

I've found myself with a new respect for Bush. I was very anti-Bush before,
but now I'm behind him 300%. He may not have won the election fair & square,
but he's dealing with this & proving he has leadership skills. The speach he
gave was great. I think it's very important we stand behind our government
right now. They're doing everything they can to find the survivors, to find
the body count, to find who's responsible for these deaths, and to avenge
them.

Thousands of people. Wiped out.

These people woke up this morning like any other morning. These people yawned
& wished they could have another hour of sleep. They reluctantly got out of
bed & took a shower. They washed their hair. They shaved their legs, they
shaved their faces. They then pulled on their clothes. They put on their
underwear, they put on their pants. They put on their stylish suits. They put
on their ties, they put on their high heeled shoes. They put on their
sweaters, they put on their t-shirts, they put on their socks. They had no
clue that they would never put a sock on their foot again. They grabbed some
breakfast. Anything from some eggs to a bagel to a cup of coffee from
Starbucks. They got in their cars or they got on the bus or they got on the
subway. They scrambled to get s seat on the subway or maybe they stood
holding the pole or one of the rings. During the ride they thought. They
thought about what they had to do at work. They thought about their families.
They thought about what they were doing after work today. They thought about
their phonecall with their boyfriend last night. They thought about their
sister in Brooklyn who was having boy trouble. They thought about the fact
that the guy sitting next to them smelled kind of funny. They thought about
how they wanted to go see "The Others" again. The kinds of things we think
every single day. They got off at their stop, they went into work. They
smiled at the guy at the front desk, at the security guards. They got on the
elevator, maybe spared a friendly look for their fellow elevator occupants.
They got to their floor. They get to work. They're keeping their mind on
their work, but occasionally their mind wanders. Wanders to things like "do
my shoes match the rest of my outfit" to "I hope I the bookstore has that
book I need" to "I wonder what would happen if I built a fort out of
erasers." Then they heard a scream. Maybe it was one scream, maybe it was
many screams. They heard a scream. They look around to see what's going on.
Did someone trip & break their neck? Is there a maniac with a gun? Is there a
really big spider on Cyndi the receptionist's desk? Then they see it. An
airplane. A big fucking airplane. They can see it right out the window. They
know life is over. They try to run for the stairs, but they know it's too
late. They hear the glass crack. Maybe a shard of it lands in their back,
gets in the base of their neck. They feel the searing pain. The burning. &
then they're gone.

Ordinary people. People like you & me. They went in to do what they do every
day and then they're gone. They're never going to do any of those things
again. They're never going to think again, to feel again. They're never going
to hope again, to dream again. They'll never get frustrated that there's no
more seats on the subway, or that the fucker in the row behind them won't
shut up during the god damn movie. They'll never undress the attractive
delivery girl with their eyes before turning their attention back to what
they were doing before. They'll never wonder if getting married was really
worth it. They'll never look at their children & marvel at the fact that out
of their flesh is a human being that loves them. They'll never question the
parentage of that same child after the kid's brought home a report card full
of F's. There's nothing left for them. And the universe that revolved around
that person has been destroyed.

Each & every person in that building had friends and family. People that
cared for them. And now all those people are left without that person. There
are thousands of little universes that have been ruined because some middle
eastern fucks had a problem with the US.
