Re: Nostradamus "prediction"
Danica,
I'd worry a lot more if you could find that Nostradamus "quote" in print
somewhere before Tuesday. These translations always get twisted to suit
whatever the current events are, after the fact.
I remember, 15-20 years ago, someone pulling out a Nostradamus
"prophecy" that the world would end on August 8th, 1999, because of an
Arab-Israeli war. Freaked me out enough (hey, I was young) that I kept
an eye on the date for however many years it took, and it turned out
that the worst thing that happened on August 8th was that I realized I'd
wasted various spare moments over the years thinking about the
"prophecy". And I think the Mets lost, too.
I also remember seeing a Nostradamus movie produced in the early 80s
(with Orson Welles narrating--sad that he was reduced to this). While
I was able to laugh at the writer's taking the famous Kennedy
assassination "prophecy" and then extending it to the belief that Ted
Kennedy would win the Presidency in 1984, since that one had already
failed, I did take note of the tale of WW3 starting because of a Moslem
takeover of the Soviet Union in 1996. Until 1997 came along, that is.
Oh, and BTW, New York is located at 40 degrees, 43 minutes North
latitude. 45 degrees is more like Montreal. If Nostradamus could see
this coming 400 years ago, he could come within a couple hundred miles,
don't you think?
Don't worry, be happy.
Dan

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the cross post. But I just got home. My family and i were visiting some relatives in NYC while the events of the last couple of days were happening. Thankfully none of us were hurt but know too many who were. But y'know, even one is TOO many. Don't think any of us have really processed any of it yet, just so stunned--equal parts furious and grieving. My deepest sympathies and condolences to everyone who's lost loved ones. To the vicitims I can only say we'll never forget you or stop mourning your loss. This is just all so senseless.
I also wanted to post because of something I read this morning. It's a prediction by Michel de Nostradame, aka Nostradamus. It's sort of freaked me out:
"In the year of the new century and nine months,
>From the sky will come a great King of Terror...
The sky will burn at forty-five degrees.
Fire approaches the great new city..."
In the city of york there will be a great collapse,
2 twin brothers torn apart by chaos while the
fortress fall the great leader will succumb
the third big war will begin when the big city is
burning."
2001 is the first year of the new century and this is the 9th month. New York is located at the 45 degree Latitude.
I know it shouldn't, but besides freaking me, it also frustrates the crap out of me. This prediction has been around for 400+ years yet still no one took precautions or even did a "hey, did ya see this, maybe it could happen and we should be sort of aware." I know I'm probably being really stupid about it but I'm still pissed and way frustrated. Guess this is that 20/20 hindsight thing, only makes sense when you look back at it. I just have to wonder what good is a gift like Nostradamus had if it never saves anyone?
God Bless all. Hug your loved ones and cherish each and every day. I know I will from now on.
Danica
